Download or read book XML written by Kevin Howard Goldberg and published by Peachpit Press. This book was released on 2010-04-26 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is XML? XML, or eXtensible Markup Language, is a specification for storing information. It is also a specification for describing the structure of that information. And while XML is a markup language (just like HTML), XML has no tags of its own. It allows the person writing the XML to create whatever tags they need. The only condition is that these newly created tags adhere to the rules of the XML specification. In the seven years since the first edition of “XML: Visual QuickStart Guide” was published, XML has taken its place next to HTML as a foundational language on the Internet. XML has become a very popular method for storing data and the most popular method for transmitting data between all sorts of systems and applications. The reason being, where HTML was designed to display information, XML was designed to manage it. “XML: Visual QuickStart Guide, 2nd Edition” is divided into seven parts. Each part contains one or more chapters with step-by-step instructions that explain how to perform XML-related tasks. Wherever possible, examples of the concepts being discussed are displayed, and the parts of the examples on which to focus are highlighted. The order of the book is intentionally designed to be an introduction to the fundamentals of XML, followed by discussions of related XML technologies.

Book Synopsis Astrochemical Modeling by : Stefano Bovino
Download or read book Astrochemical Modeling written by Stefano Bovino and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2023-11-23 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Astrochemical Modelling: Practical Aspects of Microphysics in Numerical Simulations is a comprehensive and detailed guide to dealing with the standard problems that students and researchers face when they need to take into account astrochemistry in their models, including building chemical networks, determining the relevant processes, and understanding the theoretical challenges and the numerical limitations. The book provides chapters covering the theoretical background on the predominant areas of astrochemistry, with each chapter following theoretical background with information on existing databases, step-by-step computational examples with solutions to recurrent problems, and an overview of the different processes and their numerical implementation. Furthermore, a section on case studies provides concrete examples of computational modelling usage for real-world applications and cases where the techniques can be applied is also included. - Provides theoretical background on topics that is followed by computational examples and tailored tutorials to allow for full understanding and replication of techniques - Written by theoreticians and authors with direct experience on the computational implementation to provide a realistic and pragmatic approach to common problems - Details up-to-date information on available databases, tools and benchmarks for practical usage, forming a good starting point for introductory readers and a reference for actual implementation for more advanced researchers
Book Synopsis Guide to Effective Monitoring of Aquatic and Riparian Resources by :
Download or read book Guide to Effective Monitoring of Aquatic and Riparian Resources written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This monitoring plan for aquatic and riparian resources was developed in response to monitoring needs addressed in the Biological Opinions for bull trout (U.S. Department of the Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service 1998) and steelhead (U.S. Department of Commerce, National Marine Fisheries Service). It provides a consistent framework for implementing the effectiveness monitoring of aquatic and riparian resources within the range of the Pacific Anadromous Fish Strategy (PACFISH) and the Inland Fish Strategy (INFISH). The primary objective is to evaluate the effect of land management activities on aquatic and riparian communities at multiple scales and to determine whether PACFISH/INFISH management practices are effective in maintaining or improving the structure and function of riparian and aquatic conditions at both the landscape and watershed scales on Federal lands throughout the upper Columbia River Basin. A list of attributes thought to be important in defining aquatic and riparian habitat conditions and their relationship with listed species were identified. The list of attributes was then translated into measurable criteria and compiled to form sampling protocols for both stream channel parameters (Part II) and vegetation parameters (Part III). These sampling methods were tested for variability, and the results are documented in two other publications "Testing Common Stream Sampling Methods for Broad-Scale, Long-Term Monitoring." (Archer and others 2004) and "The Repeatability of Riparian Vegetation Sampling Methods: How Useful Are These Techniques for Broad-Scale Monitoring?" (Coles-Ritchie and others, in preparation). "
Book Synopsis The Analysis of Structured Securities by : Sylvain Raynes
Download or read book The Analysis of Structured Securities written by Sylvain Raynes and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2003-09-25 with total page 516 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Analysis of Structured Securities presents the first intellectually defensible framework for systematic assessment of the credit quality of structured securities. It begins with a detailed description and critique of methods used to rate asset-backed securities, collateralized debt obligations and asset-backed commercial paper. The book then proposes a single replacement paradigm capable of granular, dynamic results. It offers extensive guidance on using numerical methods in cash flow modeling, as well as a groundbreaking section on trigger optimization. Casework on applying the method to automobile ABS, CDOs-of-ABS and aircraft-lease securitizations is also presented. This book is essential reading for practitioners who seek higher precision, efficiency and control in managing their structured exposures.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We welcome you to the proceedings of the 5t International Conference on E- CommerceandWebTechnology(EC-Web2004)heldinconjunctionwithDEXA 2004 in Zaragoza, Spain. This conference, ?rst held in Greenwich, United Ki- dom in 2000, now is in its ?fth year and very well established. As in the four previous years, it served as a forum to bring together researchersfrom academia and commercial developers from industry to discuss the current state of the art in e-commerce and Web technology. Inspirations and new ideas emerged from intensive discussions during formal sessions and social events. Keynote addresses, research presentations and discussions during the c- ference helped to further develop the exchange of ideas among the researchers, developers and practitioners present. The conference attracted 103 paper submissions and almost every paper was reviewed by three program committee members. The program committee - lected 37 papers for presentationand publication, a task which was not easy due to the high quality of the submitted papers. We would like to express our thanks to our colleagues who helped with putting together the technical program: the program committee members and external reviewers for their timely and rigorous reviews of the papers, and the organizing committee for their help in the administrative work and support. We owe special thanks to Gabriela Wagner, Mirella Köster, and Birgit Hauer for their helping hands concerning the administrative and organizational tasks of this conference. Finally, wewouldliketothankalltheauthorswhosubmittedpapers, authors who presented papers, and the participants who together made this conference an intellectually stimulating event through their active contributions.
