This book was released on 2020-06-30 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The title of this book, Very Short Reflections--for Advent and Christmas, Lent and Easter, Ordinary Time and Saints--through the Liturgical Year, accurately describes its contents. Chapter 1 presents a short reflection for every day of the Advent Season. Chapter 2 does the same for every day of the Christmas season. Lent is covered in chapter 3, the Sacred Paschal Triduum in chapter 4, and the fifty days of the Easter season in chapter 5. Chapter 6 covers Ordinary Time. And chapter 7 presents a short reflection for every solemnity, feast, and memorial of saints, whose special day falls during the liturgical year. The short reflections are based on sets of Mass texts--Entrance Antiphon, Collect, Prayer over the Offerings, Preface, Communion Antiphon, Prayer after Communion, and Prayer over the People--presented for every day of Advent and Christmas, Lent and Easter, Ordinary Time and saints in The Roman Missal. The reflection identifies the theme of the day and presents how it is manifested in the Mass texts. These very short reflections are designed to expose to the reader the liturgical spirituality that emanates from the Mass texts.

It offers one clear answer—Christ, the one who is, who was, and is to come. Revelation was written to protect our hearts from fear and encourage us on our journey towards home. John reminds us that the victory was decided long ago at the cross, and God has already won. We need to hear that assurance when we are in the trenches. It gives us strength to keep fighting and a great hope that “presses on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Phil 3:14). Susan Erikson’s poetry brings that timeless truth into the contemporary world in which we live.

This book was released on 2012-11-08 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the beginning of World War ll ,the British Government decided to evacuate the children from the cities to safer places in the countryside, and also overseas to other countries. Really where could be safer in the country? The logic behind the plan was that IF, Hitler succeeded in occupying Great Britain, the children could return someday and take their country back. This is the story of my brother, age 4,and myself age 9,who were evacuated September 9th. 1939, to America. My brother's mother, who was my step-mother, accompanied us to elderly relatives that lived in New York State. Then for reasons known only to herself, at that time, she decided to travel back across the U-boat infested waters of the Atlantic to England. Different homes were found eventually for us which was a miracle, as there were at least 2,664, Children's Oversees Reception Board (CORB) children to find homes for. The Kodak Company's families in New York opened their homes to these British evacuees, primarily for the children of the Kodak Company in Great Britian, however they ended up taking a lot of the other children. As we had been sent privately on the S.S.Scythia, we were not included in that number. We also were returned May 8th 1944, one month before D-Day, on a Neutral Portuguese ship to Lisbon. The war did not end until May 8th 1945 so we were back in England in time for the newest German weapon the Vengence Weapon l, or Doodle bug, or Buzz-bomb. This is our War Time story of our adventures, mostly mine, told 73 years later with the memories, some good and some bad, as you will see when you read the book. Thank you for your interest. It is still facinating to me today.

Book excerpt: Starting from the assertion that crisis is part of the essence of labour law, this volume brings together researchers in the field who accepted the challenge to critically reflect on this branch of the discipline. As the COVID-19 pandemic has had a global impact, labour law across the world must come to terms with a new reality. In this context, it would be prudent to adapt to new circumstances by taking known paths. To this end, this book reflects on what effectively constitutes labour law, considering questions which are not usual within labour law. Insights from philosophical, sociological and even economic standpoints are mobilised to reconcile the past with the future of labour law.
