Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This relatively brief letter from the Apostle Paul is far more important to Christians than its volume may signify. As the title of this study indicates, the content of Paul's letter to the Galatians "changes everything" in the sense that following Christ is a radical departure from living without Him. However, since human nature seems to insist that one's salvation is brought about by personal deeds that obligate God to save them, the doctrine and theology found in these pages is exceptionally important. Thus, the urgent need for Paul's testimony of justification by faith in Christ to the Galatians.

Download or read book Galatians: Evangelical Biblical Theology Commentary written by Matthew S. Harmon and published by Lexham Press. This book was released on 2021-12 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Galatians reveals how Christ changes everything. Matthew S. Harmon traces the argument of Paul's most polemic letter. In Galatians, Paul defends his authority and attacks his opponents' arguments--and in both cases, the decisive factor is the Gospel. History and Scripture must be interpreted in light of Christ's arrival. The new creation has broken in, leaving nothing unaltered. Harmon plumbs Galatians' theological depth, including its view of sin and exile, apocalyptic antitheses, the Trinity, Isaiah's servant figure, the law, righteousness, and faith(fulness). The Evangelical Biblical Theology Commentary series locates each biblical book within redemptive history and illuminates its unique theological contributions. All EBTC volumes feature informed exegetical treatment of the biblical book and thorough discussion of its most important theological themes in relation to the canon--all in a style that is useful and accessible to students of Scripture.

Book Synopsis The Theology of Paul's Letter to the Galatians by : James D. G. Dunn
Download or read book The Theology of Paul's Letter to the Galatians written by James D. G. Dunn and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1993-09-09 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paul's Letter to the Galatians is one of the fiercest and most polemical writings in the Bible. That is what makes it, for the author of this study, such an exciting document to deal with. It emerges from the early days of a vigorous new movement (Christianity), when basic principles were first being formulated, and when the whole character of the movement was at stake. In the pages of Galatians we witness fundamental features of Christian theology taking shape before our eyes, where the living heart of Paul's gospel is encountered. For James D. G. Dunn there is an elemental quality about the letter, to which those tired of compromising half-truths are drawn when they feel the impulse to return to first principles. This book, which benefits from this perspective on Paul, explains more clearly than hitherto both the issues which confronted Paul and the powerful theological arguments he brought to bear in response, and casts light on a document still capable of shaping lives and theology today.

Book Synopsis Paul and Diversity by : Linda Joelsson
Download or read book Paul and Diversity written by Linda Joelsson and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-07-31 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book investigates attitudes toward diversity as expressed in Paul’s letter to the Galatians and proposes a renewed understanding of the term σάρξ as used in this letter. Σάρξ (sarx) is usually translated as "flesh" and has often been perceived in theological studies as a complicated and highly polysemous term. It is also a word whose interpretations have had far-reaching social, political, and religious consequences throughout history. The author argues in this volume that for Paul the term σάρξ is commonly adopted with reference to the collective group, and in light of a sense of collective identity in particular. A key assertion is that Paul was and remained a Jew and also continued to be deeply concerned with the prospects for the peaceful co-existence of Jews and Gentiles in the assemblies of God. The chapters draw on perspectives from classical rhetoric, modern linguistics, and social systems theory in order to describe the communicative structure of the letter, the construct of collective identity as described within this setting, and the potential for resilience in this construct. Offering a more coherent reading of Galatians, the book contributes positively to current discussions in Pauline studies and will be of interest to scholars of biblical studies and theology. Download or read book Now That Faith Has Come written by Beth Moore and published by Living Proof Ministries. This book was released on 2021-01-12 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The apostle Paul didn't plan to go to Galatia. God used a physical ailment to direct him there, carrying the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. The relationship Paul would build with the Galatian converts--and his determination for the truth of the gospel to be preserved among them--led to one of the most passionate letters in the New Testament. Paul would not sit quietly by and let those who'd been liberated by Christ's glorious gospel submit again to a yoke of slavery. He'd send a letter with the volume turned up, calling believers to stand firm in the truth, stay bold in love, and walk by the Spirit. He'd remind them what it looked like to live for God's approval rather than human approval. The eternal words God entrusted to Paul for the churches of Galatia are as needed today as they were when the ink was still wet on the ancient pages. Join Beth and Melissa Moore for a six-week deep dive into Paul's captivating letter to the Galatians. Come to know the letter's original recipients. Study its original context and embrace its timeless relevance. Discover--or perhaps rediscover--what makes the gospel of Jesus Christ revolutionary to those who choose to believe.
