Book Synopsis Prophecy Fulfilled by : Gary Gallant
Download or read book Prophecy Fulfilled written by Gary Gallant and published by Christian Classics Reproductions. This book was released on 2023-09-03 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a daily devotional of the prophecies from the Old Testament fulfilled throughout history. The foretelling from these prophets is historically accurate. Most are fulfilled by Jesus Christ alone. Jesus talks about fulfilling the Law and the prophets. In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said that He had not come to abolish the Law or the prophets but to fulfill them (Matthew 5:17). Scripture tells of prophets, their warnings, and their prophecies. Some spoke of good things to come, while others described desperate times. The fact that Jesus fulfilled the Law, the Prophets, and the Writings reminds us that the Word of God is true, steadfast, and eternal. God is active in every moment. Prophets foretold the birth of Jesus and how He would face trials, disappointment, the unbelief of the people, torture, and death on the cross. Scripture tells how Jesus would rise on the third day and ascend into Heaven to sit at the right hand of His Father. Through each word spoken and each action, Jesus showed what would happen. Jesus knew that the plan of His Father was the best. By reading and studying the Word of God, we learn that everything Jesus said would happen is true. Although not all prophecies have been fulfilled yet, Christians know that the day is coming when Jesus will return.

Book Synopsis Helping Jesus Fulfill Prophecy by : Robert J Miller
Download or read book Helping Jesus Fulfill Prophecy written by Robert J Miller and published by Lutterworth Press. This book was released on 2017-01-26 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's obvious that Jesus fulfilled prophecies about the promised Messiah - or so the gospels make it seem. But the real story is more complex, and more compelling. In hindsight we can see that Jesus had help fulfilling prophecy. The gospel writers skillfully manipulated prophecies - carefully lifting them out of context, creatively reinterpreting them, even rewriting them - to match what Jesus would do in fulfilling them. The evangelists also used the prophecies themselves to shape the very stories that show their fulfillment. This book describes in detail how Christian authors helped Jesus fulfill prophecy. Studies of Greek oracles, the Dead Sea Scrolls, translations of the Hebrew Scriptures into Greek and Aramaic, and the writings of Josephus explore the interpretive techniques that paved the way for the New Testament's manipulation of prophecy. This book analyzes how the belief that Jesus fulfilled prophecy became an argument to justify a new notion: the view that Christians had replaced Jews as God's chosen people. An aggressive anti-Judaism is analyzed in chapters on patristic theologians such as Justin Martyr and Augustine, who embedded it into the argument from prophecy. The book concludes with an ethical argument for whyChristians should retire the argument from prophecy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Foretold since the time of Enoch is a prophet of the last days named Joseph, who would restore prophecy, priesthood, temples; and bring forth a New Torah - the Stick of Joseph. This is the incredible true story of that Joseph, born in 1805, who grew to manhood in the untamed wilderness of the American frontier. At the age of 14 his life was indelibly altered when he received a vision; wherein the Lord called Joseph to do a marvelous work and a wonder, re-establish the Kingdom of God, and prepare the way for the Coming of the Messiah. The Adversary, enraged at this threat to his reign and realm, rose up in his wrath and viciously sought to destroy Joseph. Thus, began Joseph's extraordinary efforts to accomplish the Lord's commands, while desperately struggling to elude the murderous hands of his nefarious foes. And in so doing, Joseph unknowingly fulfilled ancient Hebrew prophecy.

Book Synopsis The New England Village by : Joseph S. Wood
Download or read book The New England Village written by Joseph S. Wood and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 2002-09-24 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New England colonists, Wood argues, brought with them a cultural predisposition toward dispersed settlements within agricultural spaces called "towns" and "villages." Rarely compact in form, these communities did, however, encourage individual landholding. By the early nineteenth century, town centers, where meetinghouses stood, began to develop into the center villages we recognize today. Just as rural New England began its economic decline, Wood shows, romantics associated these proto-urban places with idealized colonial village communities as the source of both village form and commercial success.

Book Synopsis Blueprint for Building Community by : John Perry
Download or read book Blueprint for Building Community written by John Perry and published by Author House. This book was released on 2010-04-13 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: American cities are a basic part of the fabric of our democratic traditions. Many of these cities are served by professional city managers and administrators. Cities that succeed at an outstanding level often employ professionals. Yet the average American knows little about the role of these professionals. City managers have seldom written about their experiences. Blueprint for Building Community is a rare look at the career of a city manager. This career portrait is set in two Illinois communities --Park Forest and Woodridge--communities which hold high aspirations for their residents. City managers, partnering with elected leaders and citizens in these communities, have worked to fulfill those aspirations. This book highlights the values and relationships that must be cultivated by the city manager to successfully build community. Although the focus is on the role of the city manager, other key participants such as elected officials, citizens, and employees can gain from the insights. Community building requires connecting the key groups in the community to the mission and sacred things dear to residents. Harnessing the energy of all the players produces tremendous results. For the many people who worked to build Park Forest and Woodridge, and so many communities across this country, this book is a tribute to their efforts. This book is written to encourage the next generation of city managers to pursue the challenge of building communities. The author chronicles the lessons and principles that add to success as a city manager. He conveys the inspiration, passion and excitement to those who consider public service.
Book Synopsis Making the Scene by : Stuart Robert Henderson
Download or read book Making the Scene written by Stuart Robert Henderson and published by University of Toronto Press. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Making the Scene is a history of 1960s Yorkville, Toronto's countercultural mecca. It narrates the hip Village's development from its early coffee house days, when folksingers such as Neil Young and Joni Mitchell flocked to the scene, to its tumultuous, drug-fuelled final months. A flashpoint for hip youth, politicians, parents, and journalists alike, Yorkville was also a battleground over identity, territory, and power. Stuart Henderson explores how this neighbourhood came to be regarded as an alternative space both as a geographic area and as a symbol of hip Toronto in the cultural imagination. Through recently unearthed documents and underground press coverage, Henderson pays special attention to voices that typically aren't heard in the story of Yorkville - including those of women, working class youth, business owners, and municipal authorities. Through a local history, Making the Scene offers new, exciting ways to think about the phenomenon of counterculture and urban manifestations of a hip identity as they have emerged in cities across North America and beyond.

Book excerpt: It has taken me a thirty year journey from my dusty village, Kokoland, to reach America, the land of Uncle Sam. Both Kokoland and America belong to planet Earth, but they are two different worlds and neither one knows about the existence of the other. Few people in my village have the slightest clue about life in America. To them the village might as well be the center of the universe. I'm one of few lucky or unlucky ones (depending on how you look at it) who happened to, miraculously, have had the opportunity to live in both worlds. It goes without saying that I can also speak with confidence that my level of confusion is unparalleled, as you will find in this book. Once, I had confused Elvis Presley (the King) for Yuri Gagarin (the Russian Astronaut). In fact, there are people in Kokoland who still believe so. What difference will that make anyway when folks still believe that the Earth is flat?
