Book excerpt: Following a trail of bodies from world to world, Anti-Corruption Commission investigator Ellie Reece continues to try and track down the mysterious, nameless Faceless Men. Ellie’s investigation leads her to tracking down the survivors of the fallen Dé Oesté family from Iredi to the Ghio Biworld—an immense stellar-scale megastructure that is home to billions of people descended from gengineered human ancestors. The continuing attacks from the Faceless Men and their One Fang Skull Gang have opened rifts within the largest criminal organizations. Opportunistic subordinates have taken to challenging the rightful successors, defying traditions and unwritten laws that had ensured stability for decades. The power plays begin, and cracks appear. The Faceless Men seize upon the divisions. Fallen gangsters scheme with one another as they try to hunt down one of the most dangerous assassins of the One Fang Skull Gang. They are in turn hunted. Drawn into the underworld conflict, Ellie uncovers the suspected financial backer of the One Fang Skull Gang. Thinking this alleged backer might know the identities of the gang’s dual leaders, she heads for the world of Beremacia at the edge of the starless Scorpii Void. On Beremacia, the investigation reveals more interested parties who have become involved and now have complicated matters. Chased across Beremacia and diverted by those who have an ulterior interest in the outcome of the underworld war, Ellie is eventually led to Voidline Station deep inside the empty Scorpii Void. Here she is forced to contend with information brokers, who all have their own agendas. Inevitably, the fractured leaders of the underworld finally decide to settle their disputes permanently.

Suspecting that high ranking officials in the Interstellar Colonial Administration are involved, Commissioner Charles Rathau hires private investigator Ellie Reece to investigate. Ellie begins her investigation and quickly finds herself hindered by legalities and a lack of verifiable evidence. A witness eventually leads her to seek assistance from Harrison Carver, the leader of a powerful organised crime syndicate who also has a vested interest in the killings. The alliance with Carver enables Ellie access to resources and information inaccessible to law enforcement agencies. The asking price for this assistance—information. With Carver's backing, Ellie embarks on a quest that will take her into the dark underbelly of four star systems. Time runs short and Ellie's 'second' client comes under threat. Is this a gang war? The assailants are near undetectable, except for the fact they are using weapons and equipment right off I.C.A inventories. Ellie digs deeper and soon uncovers a conspiracy far, far worse than what the Commissioner fears. A conspiracy that has the potential to effect entire worlds and the lives of billions...

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A primer for a new generation of leaders based on the “Campaign Model” developed for Steve Jobs and Mike Murray at Apple Computer. The Leadership Campaign is a playbook for winning in the reality of today’s competitive global business environment. Each of the 10 steps it offers was learned on the most intensely competitive global battlefields. Thirty years ago, the authors were top-tier political consultants who could boast of a dozen presidential wins around the world. Candidates hired the authors’ company to apply to their political campaigns what the authors knew about business communication and marketing strategy. Then, in 1984, Steve Jobs asked them to build the “Campaign Model” for Apple, putting Jobs upfront as his company’s perennial candidate. This time, Jobs essentially asked the authors to apply what they knew about political campaigning to business. Continuously improved, the model has kept on working for their clients ever since, from Apple, Coca-Cola, and Citigroup to Verizon, Visa, and the Walt Disney Company. The Leadership Campaign will help you put these winning strategies to work for your company and your career. You will learn: Success-building communications skills used to train political leaders and CEOs around the world Proven strategies to take control of the competitive dialogue and never let go How to go for the win, the whole win, and nothing but the win for you and your company
