Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the birthing of a miracle or blessing, you must have equipped yourself with the reason, or the record of God, detailing that you are entitled to such a blessing, before making your request known to God. (Hebrews 11:6) "Without faith (His evidence that He can do what you came for, His testimony that you are eligible to ask for it, the record of His capability) it is impossible to please God...." So, it is your evidence or testimony of what God can do that should prompt you to come to God in the first place. Testimonies, therefore, are not an account of what has happened, but is the living account of what He said He will do for anyone that believes in Him. They are the account of His faithfulness and dependability for anyone who will obey His word and do them as commanded. Testimonies in our church, COTR-UK, should not be a recall of an event, but a recall of His faithfulness. Pastor Abi is the Senior Pastor and Founder of CHURCH ON THE ROCK UK, an evangelical and Pentecostal commission that started on January 15, 2005. The church is growing in the Southend-On-Sea area of Essex, UK. Pastor Abi is a qualified Medical Doctor and his best area of field was in Cardiology. He is married to Pastor Nike Popoola, a General Practitioner in training, and they started the church with their lovely bundles of joy, Abraham, Victor, and Victoria, their children. Pastor Abi was commissioned as a Pastor in 1993 and since then, has been privilege to Pastor churches both at the Universities and in the local communities of Ogun State, Nigeria and in London, UK; as a Mission Pastor to Barcelona, Spain.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Introduction to Spiritual Direction is a clear, nuanced and practical handbook for spiritual directors and directees that examines what it means to be spiritually whole and the process that gets us there. It is based in part on the two-year training course that the author conducts at Spiritual Direction Institute, the teachings of the depth psychologist, Carl Jung, and the Christian traditionalists, among them, St. Francis de Sales, Ignatius of Loyola, Teresa of Avila, and John of the Cross. It is further conjoined with sections on the qualities of the good director and directee, with fascinating forays into the nature of temperament and psychological type. The core of the book is devoted to its larger question, the actual growth and acquisition of spiritual wisdom, where the stages, pitfalls, remedies, rewards, as well as the importance of spiritual direction, especially during times of crises, are examined in numerous comprehensive sections. Dovetailed with chapter notes and questions, index, and extensive bibliography, An Introduction to Spiritual Direction deserves recognition by directors, directees, counselors, students and practitioners of psychology, and religious educators. It is a great starting point for spiritual exploration. +

Book excerpt: The NIV Application Commentary helps you communicate and apply biblical text effectively in today's context. In Galatians, Paul reminds us of the total sufficiency of Jesus in securing our salvation, and of the leadership of the Holy Spirit for living it out. Calling us back to the simplicity of Christ, Galatians is as critically important for us today as it was when Paul first penned it. Exploring the links between the Bible and our own times, Scot McKnight shares perspectives on the letter to the Galatians that reveal its enduring relevance for our twenty-first-century lives. To bring the ancient messages of the Bible into today's context, each passage is treated in three sections: Original Meaning. Concise exegesis to help readers understand the original meaning of the biblical text in its historical, literary, and cultural context. Bridging Contexts. A bridge between the world of the Bible and the world of today, built by discerning what is timeless in the timely pages of the Bible. Contemporary Significance. This section identifies comparable situations to those faced in the Bible and explores relevant application of the biblical messages. The author alerts the readers of problems they may encounter when seeking to apply the passage and helps them think through the issues involved. This unique, award-winning commentary is the ideal resource for today's preachers, teachers, and serious students of the Bible, giving them the tools, ideas, and insights they need to communicate God's Word with the same powerful impact it had when it was first written.

"This text fills a great need." -- Bishop Gerald F. Kicanas, Bishop of Tucson "If you want to help young people develop a vibrant, life-transforming faith, read this book!" -- John Roberto, LifelongFaith Associates "Engaging a New Generation is as much about vibrant parish faith as it is about our young people." -- Bishop Timothy Doherty, Lafayette, Indiana "A modern manifesto for reaching young people today." -- Jim Beckman, Director of Youth Evangelization and Leadership, Augustine Institute "Frank Mercadante's passion for the young Church and his commitment to a comprehensive approach to pastoral ministry is evident on every page." -- Bob McCarty, D.Min., Executive Director, National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry "This book comes from deep inside the field of youth ministry. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Just what did the Apostle Paul mean when he said, "Pray without ceasing" (1 Thess 5:17)? In this perceptive and timely book, celebrated spiritual teacher Benedict Groeschel demonstrates how the combination of grace with enduring Christian truths and practices will enable you to experience a deep, rewarding prayer life that in effect premeates everything you do. But Groeschel is not implying everyone should join a monastery. In fact, he points out that half of the communication equation has already been solved by ordinary Christians. God, who created humans in His image, is constantly trying to get in touch with us. He uses the gift of our senses, the beauty of creation, and the riches of music, art, and literature as a kind of celestial "call-waiting" system. The challenge confronting us is to "answer the call" by cultivating an awareness of God's loving presence. The foundation for doing so is to establish and maintain a schedule of daily prayer, thereby creating a framework for communication with God. In addition, the Church offers a lavish variety of resources to support our personal efforts, from daily Mass attendance, to praying the Rosary, to engaging in the ancient practice of lectio divina. As we let God touch our spirits, we will begin to practice contemplation, a prerequisite for regarding everything in our lives as spiritual exercises. This remarkable book uses the testimonies of Scripture and of the lives of saints through the ages to show how you can make your words and actions a river of unceasing prayer.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “This book walks each of us through the reality checks we need in order to have the marriage we want!” —Shaunti Feldhahn, social researcher and best-selling author of For Women Only In today’s workplace, women are often rewarded for having type A personalities: driven, demanding, ambitious, and strong. Yet when it comes to their marriages, those same traits can backfire. After all, no one goes into marriage hoping for a promotion. What is a wife to do? April Cassidy knows this struggle firsthand. She thought she was a great Christian wife and begged God to make her passive husband into a more loving, involved, godly leader. Instead, God opened her eyes to changes that she needed to make, such as laying down her desire for control and offering genuine, unconditional respect—not just love—to her husband. Cassidy’s conclusions may be as startling to readers as they were to her, but The Peaceful Wife shares how she and many others have learned to reorient their lives to biblical commands—resulting in healthier, happier marriages. In the end, you’ll find The Peaceful Wife a powerful path to God’s design for women to live in full submission to Christ as Lord.

Evolving challenges among human communities require God’s Servants to increase in skills acquisition, expand the vital knowledge required for effective warfare operations, so as to achieve greater outcomes in spiritual ministries. These are some of the essential values that Barrington Mullings identifies in this ‘timely and provocative work’, and calls those who occupy the ranks and files of leadership within the Church of Jesus Christ to pursue, not merely as required qualifications for ordination, but as critical means for affecting substantive outcomes in biblical spiritual ministries for the glory of God.
