And Israel Mourned “Upon the sweet Sabbatic calm The evil tidings swept; And, hushing every joyful psalm, An orphaned people wept. Alas, that human lips must tell The somber message dread: “O Israel! O Israel! Thy godly seer is dead!” Long, long the tale of freighted years That marked the judge's seat, From Shiloh's mingled hopes and fears To Ramah's counsel sweet. The chorus of their graces swell The lamentation sore: “O Israel! O Israel! Thy prophet speaks no more!” What hand hath not that guidance felt, Or sore-pressed heart that touch, When wayward life its impulse dealt And sorrow overmuch? What tender memories compel That saddened, low refrain: “O Israel! O Israel! Thy messenger is slain!” But hush, thou Jacob, feeble, faint, Beset by traitor foe; Take thee a pean for thy plaint, A kingdom for thy blow. With seer and prophet all is well. Loud let the heavens ring: “O Israel! O Israel! Prepare to meet thy King!”In an editorial of the same Review and Herald issue, the editor, Francis M. John Calvin (1509-1564) and Ellen G. White (1827-1915), though divergent in many ways, shared a pivotal common denominator: the Judeo-Christian Bible from Genesis to Revelation as a major template from which they reflected on the close connectedness, and radical difference of God, human beings, and the created environment. Calvin encountered a theological conundrum. He was unaware that one cannot hold on to the 16th-century Reformation of employing the biblical historical time-line from Genesis to Revelation (as a reflexive scheme on God’s four grand acts: creation, reconciliation [the cross/redemption], renewal [Pentecost/Holy Spirit] and fulfillment/end of time), whilst simultaneously embracing the classical first millennium Trinitarian view. Karl Barth, the great Swiss Reformed theologian of the early 20th century, was aware of Calvin’s conundrum. Barth resolved that the dogma of the Trinity is not found in the Bible, but should be used as a good dogma operating as the main starting pattern of one’s theology. How further can one go than Barth in giving the notion of the Trinity a biblical vote of no confidence? White treaded softly around the Trinity notion. Her vast ocean of voluminous writings is devoid of the word Trinity. She visited Switzerland, and having read Calvin’s doctrines, she most likely saw Calvin and the Reformation’s contradiction concerning the dogma of the Trinity, and wanted to avoid the same trap.

It is situated amid rolling and rich farmland atop the Cumberland Plateau on State Highway 62, nine miles east of Monterey, Tennessee. Its mission is to provide Christ-centered Adventist education to young people seeking to hasten the Lord's return. The school has an active academic curriculum, vocational program and spiritual atmosphere. The vocational program, training our youth in useful labor, incorporates technology related areas such as video production, and mission aviation as well as traditional areas including field/greenhouse farming, mechanical work, and literature evangelism. Students conduct weeks of prayer for local Adventist grade schools and travel to present spiritual programs throughout the southeast. Students receive thorough instruction in our fundamental beliefs as well as the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation. Students are taught to present messages in worship, and are prepared to share their faith. Additionally, Heritage Academy has a disaster response program in which students are trained in First Aid, CPR and a variety of Community Emergency Response Training courses. Students teach disaster response and respond to disasters both at home and abroad. Last year students responded to a local ice storm, which left 55,000 without power for up to four weeks. Students ran disaster kitchens and a disaster warehouse, meeting the needs of an average of 1,000 people daily. Additionally, a group of students responded with a medical team to set up clinics in Nepal days after the earthquake struck there. Heritage Academy's goal is to develop the character of Christ within our students and enable them to become masters of circumstances rather than victims of such as they serve Christ in ministry to others.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Feasts of the Lord, or God’s Appointed Times, first appear in the Bible during the Exodus. There are three aspects to the Feasts of the Lord: 1. Agricultural, 2. Memorial, and 3. Prophetic. They are prophetic about both the First Advent and the Second Advent which means that some events prophesied have not happened yet. The Jewish calendar was to be determined by the New Moons and the ripening of barley in Israel and consisted of twelve or thirteen months. The first of the Appointed Times was Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Unfortunately, the Hebrews rarely observed the Feasts of the Lord and this ultimately led to their division and the Babylonian captivity. In Babylon they began to rely upon the Babylonians astronomical calculations as well as observations to try to determine when the Feasts of the Lord would occur. Finally in the fourth century, they began to rely solely on calculations to determine the dates of the Feasts of the Lord. The Feasts of the Lord played an important role during Christ’s time on earth. There were four Passovers during His ministry culminating in His crucifixion at the time of the fourth Passover. After His resurrection, the Holy Spirit was poured out upon His followers in Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. The early Christian Church continued observance of the Feasts of the Lord. Paul observed Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread in Philippi. He was arrested at the time of Pentecost. The first breaks from the Feasts of the Lord began in the second century CE. The Feasts of the Lord are still important today because they were part of an oath from God, and He never breaks His oaths. Furthermore, we will be observing Feasts of the Lord in the New Earth.
