This book was released on 2014-04-26 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Decoding Jesus will forever change your view about Jesus! John Calvin (1509-1564) and Ellen G. White (1827-1915), though divergent in many ways, shared a pivotal common denominator: the Judeo-Christian Bible from Genesis to Revelation as a major template from which they reflected on the close connectedness, and radical difference of God, human beings, and the created environment. Calvin encountered a theological conundrum. He was unaware that one cannot hold on to the 16th-century Reformation of employing the biblical historical time-line from Genesis to Revelation (as a reflexive scheme on God’s four grand acts: creation, reconciliation [the cross/redemption], renewal [Pentecost/Holy Spirit] and fulfillment/end of time), whilst simultaneously embracing the classical first millennium Trinitarian view. Karl Barth, the great Swiss Reformed theologian of the early 20th century, was aware of Calvin’s conundrum. Barth resolved that the dogma of the Trinity is not found in the Bible, but should be used as a good dogma operating as the main starting pattern of one’s theology. How further can one go than Barth in giving the notion of the Trinity a biblical vote of no confidence? White treaded softly around the Trinity notion. Her vast ocean of voluminous writings is devoid of the word Trinity. She visited Switzerland, and having read Calvin’s doctrines, she most likely saw Calvin and the Reformation’s contradiction concerning the dogma of the Trinity, and wanted to avoid the same trap.

Book Synopsis James K. Humphrey and the Sabbath-Day Adventists by : R. Clifford Jones
Download or read book James K. Humphrey and the Sabbath-Day Adventists written by R. Clifford Jones and published by Univ. Press of Mississippi. This book was released on 2009-09-18 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In James K. Humphrey and the Sabbath-Day Adventists, R. Clifford Jones tells the story of this important black religious figure and his attempt to bring about self-determination for twentieth-century blacks in New York City. Humphrey was a Baptist minister who joined the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church shortly after arriving in New York City from Jamaica at the turn of the twentieth century. A leader of uncommon competency and charisma, Humphrey functioned as an SDA minister in Harlem during the time the community became the black capital of the United States. Though he led his congregation to a position of prominence within the SDA denomination, Humphrey came to believe the black experience in Adventism was one of disenfranchisement. When he refused to alter his plans for a utopian community for blacks in the face of dissent from SDA church leaders, Humphrey's ministerial credentials were revoked and his congregation was dissolved. Subsequently, Humphrey established an independent black religious organization, the United Sabbath-Day Adventists. This book rescues the Sabbath-Day Adventists from obscurity. Humphrey's break with the Seventh-day Adventists provides clues to the state of black-white relationships in the denomination at the time. It set the stage for the creation of the separate administrative structure for blacks established by the SDA church in 1945. This history of a minister and his church demonstrates the struggles of small, independent, black congregations in the urban community during the twentieth century.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Who was Ellen White anyway? Was she just another human like the rest of us? Yes, she was.” Of course, Ellen White was also a very special friend of God and His personal messenger to those in these last days. She sometimes had to share very serious messages from Him with His flock here on earth. But that didn’t mean she was always the little lady dressed in black “looking stern, stuffy, and unfriendly.” Not at all. In this book, Paul Ricchiuti shows us The Other Side of Ellen White… the colorful side that was caring, kind, fun-loving, and humorous. She loved to laugh! She loved the people around her and took special joy in experiencing the small wonders of nature every day. Many of the stories found in this book come from her time in Australia and at Elmshaven, in California. Even during these later years, she did not lose her zest for life and she worked tirelessly for the beloved children of God until the day she died. Enjoy these refreshing reflections on the life of a very special lady who had a very special relationship with God. May you also find that joy in walking hand-in-hand with our Lord.
Download or read book When Angels Cry written by Robert Wright and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2006 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book culminates years of study and research by its writer, Robert Wright. While still a child, Robert, intrigued by discussions held by his parents and family friends as they celebrated the Sabbath hours on Friday evenings and Saturdays, developed a love for Bible prophecy and history. Educated in both public and private Christian schools, Robert has a Masters degree in Educational Psychology. Of his many interests, Bible prophecy is his passion. In this book, the writer examines Seventh-day Adventists beliefs concerning Babylon the Great. He addresses the issues head-on, challenging traditional views, providing alternative perspectives, yet leaving in tact the essential truths espoused by the church regarding the Papacy. The symbols of Revelation 12, 17, and 18 are re-examined as the writer presents evidence that suggests Babylon the Great does not symbolize the Papacy as traditionally taught. This book offers a bible-based defense of what Babylon symbolizes. Most importantly, this book encourages the reader to rely on the Bible as its own expositor, the only source upon which to establish faith as it introduces compelling insights regarding the message of the angel of Revelation 18. The message of this angel, the fourth angel's message, accompanied by the outpouring of the Latter Rain, represents God's final warning to the inhabitants of a planet destined for destruction. Yet at the same time, the message offers hope, a means of escape for all people that heed the Divine invitation to come out of Babylon. Book Synopsis The Good Neighbour: Volume 5, The Official History of Australian Peacekeeping, Humanitarian and Post-Cold War Operations by : Bob Breen
Download or read book The Good Neighbour: Volume 5, The Official History of Australian Peacekeeping, Humanitarian and Post-Cold War Operations written by Bob Breen and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2016-07-15 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Good Neighbour explores the Australian government's efforts to support peace in the Pacific Islands from 1980 to 2006. It tells the story of the deployment of Australian diplomatic, military and policing resources at a time when neighbouring governments were under pressure from political violence and civil unrest. The main focus of this volume is Australian peacemaking and peacekeeping in response to the Bougainville Crisis, a secessionist rebellion that began in late 1988 with the sabotage of a major mining operation. Following a signed peace agreement in 2001, the crisis finally ended in December 2005, under the auspices of the United Nations. During this time Australia's involvement shifted from behind-the-scenes peacemaking, to armed peacekeeping intervention, and finally to a longer-term unarmed regional peacekeeping operation. Granted full access to all relevant government files, Bob Breen recounts the Australian story from decisions made in Canberra to the planning and conduct of operations.
