Book Synopsis The Rapid City Indian School, 1898-1933 by : Scott Riney
Download or read book The Rapid City Indian School, 1898-1933 written by Scott Riney and published by University of Oklahoma Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Rapid City Indian School was one of twenty-eight off-reservation boarding schools built and operated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs to prepare American Indian children for assimilation into white society. From 1898 to 1933 the "School of the Hills" housed Northern Plains Indian children--including Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, Shoshone, Arapaho, Crow, and Flathead--from elementary through middle grades. Scott Riney uses letters, archival materials, and oral histories to provide a candid view of daily life at the school as seen by students, parents, and school employees. The Rapid City Indian School, 1898-1933 offers a new perspective on the complexities of American Indian interactions with a BIA boarding school. It shows how parents and students made the best of their limited educational choices--using the school to pursue their own educational goals--and how the school linked urban Indians to both the services and the controls of reservation life.

Book Synopsis THE RAPID RISE OF CHINA (IN SIMPLE WORDS) by : MINAKSHI GOEL
Download or read book THE RAPID RISE OF CHINA (IN SIMPLE WORDS) written by MINAKSHI GOEL and published by INDIA NETBOOKS . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PREFACE The relationship a country maintains with its neighbours is very important. If the relationship is good, it can be a source of strength. Otherwise, it can lead to destruction. India is a peninsula, sharing its borders with several nations. Of all these neighbouring countries, China is most important economically, politically and strategically. Moreover, recently China has become the centre of discussion for the entire world, not only for India. The People's Republic of China (also called as China in short) was founded in 1949. Today, in 2020, in a very short period, it has become a superpower. It is very important for us to understand how China grew so fast in such a short period of time. Looking at the mind-set of its leaders and the policies they implemented might help us understand how to improve our own nation. Keeping these things in mind, I have written this short book to explore China’s growth. When I started on this journey, I found that the information was scattered, complex and difficult for the layman to understand. I have therefore tried to keep the content short and the language simple and lucid, in order to share this information with a wide audience. MINAKSHI GOEL
Book Synopsis Paul Rapin Thoyras and the Art of Eighteenth-century Historiography by : Miriam Franchina
Download or read book Paul Rapin Thoyras and the Art of Eighteenth-century Historiography written by Miriam Franchina and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This is the first book on the genesis, impact, and reception of the most widely read history of England of the early eighteenth century: Paul Rapin Thoyras's 'Histoire d'Angleterre' (1724-1727). The 'Histoire' and complementary works ('Extraits des actes de Rymer', 1710-1723; 'Dissertation sur les Whigs et les Torys', 1717) gave practical expression to theorizations of history against Pyrrhonian postulations by foregrounding an empirical form of history-writing. Rapin's unprecedented standards of historiographical accuracy triggered both politically informed reinterpretations of the 'Histoire' in partisan newspapers and a multitude of adaptations that catered to an ever-growing number of readers. Despite a long-standing assessment as a 'standard Whig historian,' Rapin fashioned the impartial persona of a judge-historian, in compliance with the expectations of the Republic of Letters. His personal trajectory illuminates how scholars pursued trustworthy knowledge and how they reconsidered the boundaries of their community in the face of the booming printing industry and the interconnected growth of general readership. Rapin's oeuvre provided significant raw material for Voltaire's and Hume's Enlightenment historiographical narratives. A comparative foray into their respective different approaches to history and authorship cautions us against assuming a direct transition from the Republic of Letters into an Enlightenment Republic of Letters. To study the diffusion and the impact of Rapin's works is to understand that empirical history-writing, defined by its commitment to erudition in the service of impartiality, coexisted with the 'histoire philosophique'."--Page 4 of printed paper wrapper.

Download or read book BART written by Michael C. Healy and published by Heyday.ORIM. This book was released on 2013-01-01 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An insider’s “indispensible” behind-the-scenes history of the transit system of San Francisco and surrounding counties (Houston Chronicle). In the first-ever history book about BART, longtime agency spokesman Michael C. Healy gives an insider’s account of the rapid transit system’s inception, hard-won approval, construction, and operations, warts and all. With a master storyteller’s wit and sharp attention to detail, Healy recreates the politically fraught venture to bring a new kind of public transit to the West Coast. What emerges is a sense of the individuals who made (and make) BART happen. From tales of staying up until 3:00 a.m. with BART pioneers Bill Stokes and Jack Everson to hear the election results for the rapid transit vote to stories of weathering scandals, strikes, and growing pains, this look behind the scenes of an iconic, seemingly monolithic structure reveals people at their most human—and determined to change the status quo. “The Metro. The T. The Tube. The world's most famous subway systems are known by simple monikers, and San Francisco's BART belongs in that class. Michael C. Healy delivers a tour-de-force telling of its roots, hard-fought approval, and challenging construction that will delight fans of American urban history.”—Doug Most, author of The Race Underground: Boston, New York, and the Incredible Rivalry That Built America's First Subway

I do believe that it is a very simple and easy way that anyone can learn. We are evolving spiritually at a very rapid pace now. Now a more rapid form of healing has been revealed that is so simple that you can take your own power and be your own healer in partnership with the Master Jesus or any of the many Master's and Guides that are assisting humanityThe tools for transformation are presented in section 1. The Rapid Healing Technique section 2 is a guide in assisting you in many of the day to day living challenges and conflicts with self and relationships. Section 2 gives you more tools for spiritual growth and insight for applying the release healing techniques, raising your vibration to another level. It is designed to open your awareness and move you in a forward direction. This book is a workbook for life. It motivates dedication to yourself and your growth. It will make you stronger if you pursue the processes. It will raise your vibration and lead you to your path if you do not already know what that is. It will give you a greater understanding of what is behind the veil that awaits all humans eventually; a glimpse into the heavens.
