Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this 21st century church, it is valuably important that we as believers in Jesus Christ are to understand any gift given or presented to us. Because the gift of prophecy is in such high demand, we must have a complete understanding of the gift and the office. It is increasingly important that as a prophet, the gift and the giver (God) of the gift are represented correctly. It is also important for those who are laity to understand the designed function of the gift. To operate as a novice is dangerous. Also, to attempt to operate and not be called is erroneous, simply life- damaging and life-threatening. If you are called to the office/mantle of a prophet, you MUST understand the gift. You must live it and not just operate in it. At the completion of this manual, you will have a great understanding of prophecy, the prophetic and the mantle of a prophet. The designated functionary purpose is to present the rules and boundaries or what is acceptable and to help you discern when flesh is on parade. The Holy Bible records in Proverbs 4:7, "Wisdom is the principle thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding." So, allow this manual to help to enlighten you as we open up and unveil "The Mantle Of A Prophet."
Book Synopsis The Mantle of Elijah by : Terence Collins
Download or read book The Mantle of Elijah written by Terence Collins and published by Burns & Oates. This book was released on 1993 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to current trends in the study of the biblical prophets. It surveys the growing volume of work that has been on the redactional analysis of individual books and represents the first attempt to bring together these different strands of redaction criticism and to evaluate the effect they have had on our appreciation of the prophetical books as a distinct genre. The opening chapter deals with the methodology of redaction criticism as applicable to the prophetical books. The author then looks at the redactional history of each of the individual books in turn. The closing chapters consider the implications this approach has for our appreciation of these books and the aims of the writers who created them. In particular, the author draws attention to the literary nature of the image of The Prophet conveyed in the books about prophets.
Book Synopsis The Pietist Option by : Christopher Gehrz
Download or read book The Pietist Option written by Christopher Gehrz and published by InterVarsity Press. This book was released on 2017-10-03 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Historian Mark Noll has written that historic Pietism "breathed a badly needed vitality" into post-Reformation Europe. Now the time has come for Pietism to revitalize Christianity in post-Christendom America. In The Pietist Option, Christopher Gehrz, a historian of Pietism, and Mark Pattie, a pastor in the Pietist tradition, show how Pietism holds great promise for the church—and the world—today. Modeled after Philipp Spener's 1675 classic, Pia Desideria, this timely book makes a case for the vitality of Pietism in our day. Taking a hard look at American evangelicalism and why it needs renewal, Gehrz and Pattie explore the resources that Pietism can provide the church of the twenty-first century. This concise and winsome volume serves as a practical guide to the Pietist ethos for life and ministry, pointing us toward the renewal so many long for. The Pietist Option introduces Pietism to those who don't know it—and reintroduces it to those who perceive it as an outdated and inward-focused spirituality, a nitpicking divisiveness, or an anti-intellectual withdrawal. With its emphasis on our walk with Jesus and its vibrant hope for a better future, Pietism connects decisively with the ideas and issues of our day. Here is a revitalizing option for all who desire to be faithful and fruitful in God's mission.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: QASIDAH BURDAH THE THREE POEMS OF THE PROPHET'S MANTLE Translations & Introduction by Paul Smith Ka'b ibn Zuhair (died 7th century A.D.) was a famous poet who at first opposed Prophet Muhammad. Finally, he secretly went to Medina and approached the Prophet to ask if one who repented and embraced the faith would be forgiven. Mohammed answered yes and the poet asked, "Even Ka'b ibn Zuhair?" When he affirmed this, Ka'b revealed his identity and read a poem, his Banat Suad (of 55 couplets), which would become his most famous poem. As a reward Prophet Mohammed took off his mantle (cloak) and put it on Ka'b's shoulders. The second for Mohammed was composed by the eminent Sufi, Imam al-Busiri (1210-1297). The poem (161 couplets) is famous mainly in the Sunni Muslim world. It is entirely in praise of Prophet Mohammed, who is said to have cured the poet of paralysis by appearing to him in a dream and wrapping him in a mantle. The third poet of the 'Mantle' was Ahmed Shawqi (1869 - 1932) the great Arabic Poet-Laureate, an Egyptian poet and dramatist who pioneered the modern Egyptian literary movement, introducing poetic epics to the Arabic literary tradition. His 'Mantle' qasida is 190 couplets. The correct rhyme-structure has been kept and the meaning of these beautiful, powerful, spiritual poems.
