It does not matter whether you are with the airmen in Vietnam, the first night of TET or just reading about the authors hair raising childhood adventures. Sometimes growing up and learning defensive moves in a small middle North Carolina town can be interesting. For the first time, a book written that is about the honest daily occurrences and multiple battles of a real airman in Vietnam. These were battles like others, in which people died and others became heroes. Battles in which crews looked death in the face multiple times each day, flying into places without the security of arms or cover ,the stress of actual war. Tom Stalveys wishes to enlist and study at the great Air Force electronics schools at the time, did not come to pass, instead he was assigned to the very lite and extremely dangerous rolls of an enlisted aircrew member. The courses these young men completed were at the considered complete college courses equal to obtaining a degree in a matter of months. The duty aboard the Lockheed C-130 Hercules as a Weight and balance Technician or Loadmaster was and still is essential. He was destined to end up in Vietnam. after two and a half years of training and protocol Only a slight recess was given these airmen as these young men were handed the keys to three fourths of a C-130 aircraft. Most of them averaged 22 years of age. Trained at doing their jobs by the book they soon learned that doing so in Vietnam could cost time and lives. Great at modifying plans on the run, many were awarded our nations highest war time decorations. Laugh out loud as you follow a young boy into what must have been The start of The Lucky Loadmasters ironic heavenly inspired protection and cry for the pain of his broken body!

Book excerpt: Someone wants you dead. But he doesn't want to kill you . . . He wants you to do it for him. He watches your every move. He studies you like a mouse in a maze. He knows everything about you—every dream, hunger, weakness, and strength. What you long for and what you fear most. What you live for, and what you cannot live without. He plans to take those things away from you one at a time, invisibly manipulating the events of your life until there is nothing left to live for. Then he wants you to take the final step. Or is it all in your head? Is he just a figment of your irrational fear, a face you've given to your terrible misfortune? Everything you love is slipping away. You want to fight back but who, or what, do you fight against? Let the head game begin.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Final Mission tells the story of Bob King, who for seventeen years, beginning with his military career as a member of the Special Forces Unit in Vietnam, led an incredible double life, carrying out the U.S. government's high-risk missions--without involving its military. Then, in 1992, King and his men, secret members of a U.S. Tactical Reconnaissance Team, were sent to Colombia. The mission was "an easy breather," until the men walked into an ambush and found out the real reason they were there. They had been sent to die. With three men dead, and King himself wounded, the band of mercenaries began a desperate battle for survival-- and for the truth-- that led from South America all the way to Washington, D.C. Now, in this chilling, action-packed book, Bob King goes public: with the covert operations he carried out, the hidden deals he witnessed, and the horrific shadow war he survived-- against a U.S. government desperate to bury its secrets and its own men.

Book excerpt: In this compelling sequel to Final Flights, aviation archaeologist Ian McLachlan has reconstructed the dramatic last flights of Second World War airmen, including the first Fortress to fall in combat from the USAAF's 447th Bomber Group; the final flight of an intruder Mosquito pursuing a German night fighter; the courage of a Lancaster pilot responsible for six lives aboard a burning aircraft; the story of a Spitfire's last flight and its heroic Belgian pilot. Exciting stories are also recounted of those whose misdirected courage saw them serve under the swastika. In reconstructing long-forgotten wartime events, often from buried wreckage, eyewitness accounts and contemporary documentation, aviation archaeologists can bring recognition to the individual flyers involved and shed new light on the air war over Britain and Europe during the Second World War.Even the discovery of small fragments can be significant. They provide evidence or prompt new research, revealing stories that offer a uniquely human dimension and reveal the hopes, fears, aspirations and pleasures of the aircrew involved. Ian McLachlan and other aviation archaeologists have now done them justice.

He lends his training and ability, along with his star aged laser sword, to Tara’s quest. Luggo - Luggosino Mitrin Lars Ulfstag Omsnerros Olfsen Dar. A giant from the north. They find him besotted with drink and befriend him. He is more clever than his size would have you believe. Steph - Stefano Nikoliavich Metros de Santos Campari de Dupont An ancient warrior from the time before. His abilities and knowledge transcend hundreds of years. Many others will either aid or hinder her perilous journey. Reviews: ***** Whoa, slow down there, Turbo! A sexy babe with muscles, training, and ability. A guy with a laser sword, a giant, ancient warriors. This has it all. You did it again, dude. What a great story. ·· J.D. King ***** Strong start. OMG, love the cover! The description in the book of the girl and her outfit (and why it's so scanty) is believable and impressive. If I hadn't seen the cover pic, I think I would have pictured the same girl. ·· Anymous (Goodreads) ***** ...Overall, I really liked this book, though I can only make it through one or two battle scenes in a single sitting (probably why it took me a while to read the story). The characters are charismatic and their banter is humorous. I enjoyed the magical elements and the hints at a greater history. ·· Patricia Hamill on Goodreads The fight scenes are well-described with great details – this is definitely R.L. Kiser’s strength. No reader would complain that he or she couldn't imagine the scenes vividly. Nonetheless, there are times when things are a little too convenient in the plot department. Character development is solid, although not the strongest compared to some of Kiser’s books that I've read before. Yet it’s all justifiable as it’s such a wild adventure. Overall, it is a book that would satisfy fantasy and adventure fans alike – it’s action-packed and a fast read. That said, The Prophecy of Tara is strictly for mature adults due to some parts of the story that are not suited for younger readers. ··Lit Amri for Readers’ Favorite

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A history of the first engagement between the U.S. Army and the North Vietnamese Army at the beginning of the Vietnam War in 1965. In fall 1965, North Vietnam’s high command smelled blood in the water. The South Vietnamese republic was on the verge of collapse, and Hanoi resolved to crush it once and for all. The communists set their sights on South Vietnam’s strategically vital West-Central Highlands. Annihilate ARVN’s defenses in Kontum and Pleiku provinces, the communists surmised, and the region’s remaining provinces would topple like dominoes. Their first target was the American Special Forces camp at Plei Me, remote and isolated along the Cambodian border. As darkness fell on 19 October, 1965, two North Vietnamese Army regiments—some four thousand troops— crept into their final strike positions. The plan was as simple as it was audacious: one regiment would bring the frontier fortress under murderous siege while the other would lie in wait to destroy the inevitable rescue force. Initially, all that stood athwart Hanoi’s grand scheme was a handful of American Green Berets, a few hundred Montagnard allies—and burgeoning U.S. airpower. Cut off and beleaguered, Plei Me’s defenders fought for their lives, while a daring band of close air support and resupply pilots helped keep the beast at bay. But as the overland relief force bogged down, 5th Group ordered in the legendary “Chargin” Charlie Beckwith and his elite Project Delta to help hold the line. Soon, the 1st Cavalry Division would also join the fray, setting the stage for its bloody Ia Drang Valley fights a few weeks later. Before it was over, the siege of Plei Me would push its defenders to the brink and usher in the first major clashes between the U.S. and North Vietnamese armies. Drawing on archival research and interviews with combat veterans, J. Keith Saliba reconstructs this pivotal battle in vivid, gut-wrenching detail and illustrates where the siege fit in the war’s strategic picture. Praise for Death in the Highlands Winner, 2021 Gold Medal in history, Military Writers Society of America “This story has it all: the bravery and suffering of men in extreme peril and how they lived and died. Plei Me was the prelude to the bloody battles of the 1st Cavalry Division troopers in the nearby Ia Drang Valley just weeks later. Keith Saliba has done them all proud.” —Joseph L. Galloway, co-author of the New York Times bestseller We Were Soldiers Once . . . and Young “Military history at its best . . . a clear, detailed, and highly readable account of an important but little understood battle of the Vietnam War.” —Col. Andrew R. Finlayson, USMC (Ret.), author of Killer Kane: A Marine Long-Range Recon Team Leader in Vietnam, 1967–1968 and winner of the CIA’s Studies in Intelligence Award

Book excerpt: Tilting at Mekong Windmills is the true story of four participants in the Vietnam tragedy: John Paul Vann, a very senior American civilian; Philip (Ted) Serong, an Australian Army brigadier who became a CIA agent; and two Vietnamese siblings on opposite sides of the struggle. All made significant contributions to the war effort but met undeserved fates. For the author, this is a work of admiration for Vann and Serong. Heroes, who performed extraordinary service for the American side, both made strategic recommendations that might have led to a more favorable outcome. The other characters reflect the irony of the times. All were tilting at windmills.
