Book Synopsis Wharton's Word Search Puzzles by : Rev. Wendell S. Wharton, Jr
Download or read book Wharton's Word Search Puzzles written by Rev. Wendell S. Wharton, Jr and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2015-05-29 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Word search puzzles are one of many types of word games, which are designed to both challenge and stimulate the mind. Unlike cross word puzzles, which give clues to the words needed to fill in the blanks of the puzzle, words search puzzles present a group of apparently random letters that conceal words that must be identified within the puzzle. These word search puzzles were one of several tools developed and utilized by Rev. Wendell Wharton as part of a Bible study program for the youth and young adult ministry. The puzzles were designed to facilitate learning and recall of the books of the Bible in a unique manner, which would make learning both fun and challenging. Each word search puzzle within this publication is one 81/2 x 11 page of letters, which contain the titles of the books of the Bible hidden within them. The challenge and the objective is to identify all sixty-six books within each puzzle. Unique to Rev. Wharton's word search puzzles is that the titles or names of the books of the Bible are so arranged on each page such that when all of them have been identified, circled, or highlighted, an image appears. Each puzzle has a different image contained within it. The images may be a picture of an object, a word, or words. The initial series of puzzles included horizontal, vertical, and oblique entries. There are no oblique entries of name of the books within the puzzles in this publication. The earlier versions were also much smaller and did not reveal hidden images. The images were added to allow Rev. Wharton to quickly assess student progress on a puzzle and offer individualized feedback. While the puzzles were initially designed for the youth and young adults, the increasing number of requests for copies of the puzzles from adults and seniors suggested that there was a much larger audience. Input from Christians who like crossword puzzles revealed an appreciation for this Bible-based word search puzzles, hence this publication. May it be used for the benefit and edification of the saints.

Book Synopsis Landscape and Sustainability by : John F. Benson
Download or read book Landscape and Sustainability written by John F. Benson and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2005-11-29 with total page 601 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique book is about landscape, sustainability and the practices of the professions which plan, design and manage landscapes at many scales and in many locations; urban, suburban and rural. Despite the ubiquity of 'sustainability' as a concept, this is the first book to address the relationship between landscape architecture and sustainability in a comprehensive way. Much in the book is underpinned by landscape ecology, in contrast to the idea of landscape as only appealing to the eye or aspiring cerebrally to be fine art. As this book argues, landscape is and must be much more than this; landscape architecture is about making places which are biologically wholesome, socially just and spiritually rewarding.

Book Synopsis A Journey through the Content and Language Integrated Learning Landscape by : Carmel Mary Coonan
Download or read book A Journey through the Content and Language Integrated Learning Landscape written by Carmel Mary Coonan and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2017-11-06 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Interest in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), in Europe and beyond, has increased exponentially since it first appeared on the scene in Europe in the early 1990s. CLIL has grown to become a much-discussed topic of language education today, with the number of publications pertaining to the field continuing to increase. Researchers, teachers, teacher trainers, course planners and others involved in CLIL are constantly searching for new studies to help them understand how CLIL is evolving and how best it can be implemented. As the concept is now informing the pedagogical principles of different educational realities, research and reflection are now required to further understand its potential and implications, its inherent difficulties and possible applications. This volume was conceived with this idea in mind. The book primarily covers three macro areas: learning, teaching and training. It provides insight into the latest areas of research and reflection that are characterizing the CLIL field in the current decade. The wide range of topics covered reveal, for example, a shift in interest towards CLIL at the tertiary level, focusing on lecturer and student perceptions and problems.

Book excerpt: Engages literary texts in order to theorise the distinctive cognitive and affective experiences of drivingWhat sorts of things do we think about when we're driving - or being driven - in a car? Drivetime seeks to answer this question by drawing upon a rich archive of British and American texts from 'the motoring century' (1900-2000), paying particular attention to the way in which the practice of driving shapes and structures our thinking. While recent sociological and psychological research has helped explain how drivers are able to think about 'other things' while performing such a complex task, little attention has, as yet, been paid to the form these cognitive and affective journeys take. Pearce uses her close readings of literary texts - ranging from early twentieth-century motoring periodicals, Modernist and inter-war fiction , American 'road-trip' classics , and autobiography - in order to model different types of 'driving-event' and, by extension, the car's use as a means of phenomenological encounter, escape from memory, meditation, problem-solving and daydreaming.Key FeaturesBrings Humanities-based perspectives to bear upon topical debates in automobilities research Introduces a new concept for understanding our journeys made my car by focusing on the driver's automotive consciousness rather than utility/function Makes use of auto-ethnography to explore and theorise automotive consciousnessDraws upon a rich archive of literary texts from across the twentieth-century including original research into unknown writers featured in the early twentieth-century texts/motoring periodicals
