Book Synopsis Training in the Food and Beverages Sector in Denmark by :
Download or read book Training in the Food and Beverages Sector in Denmark written by and published by . This book was released on 1996 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A study of the food sector in Denmark was limited to the slaughterhouse, dairy, beverages sectors. The food sector was the most important single industry in the Danish economy. It was the largest manufacturing sector, generated one-third of total manufacturing, and comprised approximately 8 percent of the total Danish gross domestic product. It was a very heterogeneous sector predominantly made up of large companies. With no legal requirement for continuing training under Danish law, a tradition developed over the years with regard to initial and continuing training that was based solely on voluntary agreements between management and work force. The main principle of all vocational training was that the state made resources available in its budget. The chosen strategic course that aims to establish a customer-supplier relationship with foreign food companies by providing a high level of market readiness regarding quality, taste, appearance, and packaging of primary products would require the Danish food sector's product development efforts to be strengthened. The strategy would require the improvement of a number of commercial skills (languages, selling, marketing, and intercultural activities) in programs with a distinct European base. Four companies were involved in case studies: Loven Petfood A/S, Nr. Vium Mejeri, Carlsberg A/S, and Steff/Houlberg. Each case study described the company, continuing vocational training, specific training programs, and training assessment. (YLB)

Book Synopsis Advances in Enterprise Information Systems II by : Charles Moller
Download or read book Advances in Enterprise Information Systems II written by Charles Moller and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-06-07 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many years now Enterprise Information Systems have been critical in helping businesses successfully navigate the global market. The development that started with design and implementation of integrated systems has evolved to incorporate a multitude of perspectives and ideas. The Enterprise Information Systems functionality extends from principally an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system to a portfolio of standard systems including CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems and SCM (Supply Chain Management) systems. Advances in Enterprise Information Systems II is divided into seven thematic sections, each exploring a distinct topic. In “Concepts in Enterprise Information Systems” the authors present new concepts and ideas for the field. “Cases in Enterprise Information Systems” introduces studies of enterprise information systems in an organizational context. “Business Process Management” is one of the major themes within enterprise information systems and “Designing Enterprise Information Systems” discusses new approaches to the design of processes and system and also deals with how design can be taken as a specific perspective. “Enterprise Information Systems in various domains” features generic studies that contribute to advancing the practical knowledge of the field as well as towards “Global issues of Enterprise Information Systems”. Finally, in “Emerging Topics in Enterprise Information Systems”, new technologies and ideas are explored. Cloud computing in particular seems to be setting the agenda for future research in enterprise information systems. The book will be invaluable to academics and professionals interested in recent developments in the field of enterprise information systems.
Book Synopsis From Waste to Value by : Antje Klitkou
Download or read book From Waste to Value written by Antje Klitkou and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-03-27 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From Waste to Value investigates how streams of organic waste and residues can be transformed into valuable products, to foster a transition towards a sustainable and circular bioeconomy. The studies are carried out within a cross-disciplinary framework, drawing on a diverse set of theoretical approaches and defining different valorisation pathways. Organic waste streams from households and industry are becoming a valuable resource in today’s economies. Substances that have long represented a cost to companies and a burden for society are now becoming an asset. Waste products, such as leftover food, forest residues and animal carcasses, can be turned into valuable products such as biomaterials, biochemicals and biopharmaceuticals. Exploiting these waste resources is challenging, however. It requires that companies develop new technologies and that public authorities introduce new regulation and governance models. This book helps policy-makers govern and regulate bio-based industries, and helps industry actors to identify and exploit new opportunities in the circular bioeconomy. Moreover, it provides important insights for all students and scholars concerned with renewable energy, sustainable development and climate change.

Book Synopsis A Framework for Assessing Effects of the Food System by : National Research Council
Download or read book A Framework for Assessing Effects of the Food System written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2015-06-17 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How we produce and consume food has a bigger impact on Americans' well-being than any other human activity. The food industry is the largest sector of our economy; food touches everything from our health to the environment, climate change, economic inequality, and the federal budget. From the earliest developments of agriculture, a major goal has been to attain sufficient foods that provide the energy and the nutrients needed for a healthy, active life. Over time, food production, processing, marketing, and consumption have evolved and become highly complex. The challenges of improving the food system in the 21st century will require systemic approaches that take full account of social, economic, ecological, and evolutionary factors. Policy or business interventions involving a segment of the food system often have consequences beyond the original issue the intervention was meant to address. A Framework for Assessing Effects of the Food System develops an analytical framework for assessing effects associated with the ways in which food is grown, processed, distributed, marketed, retailed, and consumed in the United States. The framework will allow users to recognize effects across the full food system, consider all domains and dimensions of effects, account for systems dynamics and complexities, and choose appropriate methods for analysis. This report provides example applications of the framework based on complex questions that are currently under debate: consumption of a healthy and safe diet, food security, animal welfare, and preserving the environment and its resources. A Framework for Assessing Effects of the Food System describes the U.S. food system and provides a brief history of its evolution into the current system. This report identifies some of the real and potential implications of the current system in terms of its health, environmental, and socioeconomic effects along with a sense for the complexities of the system, potential metrics, and some of the data needs that are required to assess the effects. The overview of the food system and the framework described in this report will be an essential resource for decision makers, researchers, and others to examine the possible impacts of alternative policies or agricultural or food processing practices.
