Njegosh dedicates the Mountain Wreath to the dust of the Father of Serbia, Karageorge Petrovich. The Mountain Wreath is the epic about the glory of the Cross of the Serbs in Montenegro. In the 19th century, Alfred Lord Tennyson, (1809—1892), referred to Montenegrins as the mighty race of the mountaineers—the defenders of Christian faith. Njegosh, our great and beloved Prince-Bishop of Montenegro was a wise judge of his time, but Time itself is the ultimate judge. Today there are some small areas in Montenegro populated by the Slavic Muslims who love their Montenegro and build it in a brotherly unity together with other Montenegrins.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Though science fiction is often thought of as a Western phenomenon, the genre has long had a foothold in countries as diverse as India and Mexico. These fourteen critical essays examine both the role of science fiction in the third world and the role of the third world in science fiction. Topics covered include science fiction in Bengal, the genre's portrayal of Native Americans, Mexican cyberpunk fiction, and the undercurrents of colonialism and Empire in traditional science fiction. The intersections of science fiction theory and postcolonial theory are explored, as well as science fiction's contesting of imperialism and how the third world uses the genre to recreate itself. Book Synopsis Modernism and Time by : Ronald Schleifer
Download or read book Modernism and Time written by Ronald Schleifer and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2000-02-10 with total page 297 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Modernism and Time, Ronald Schleifer analyses the transition from the Enlightenment to post-Enlightenment ways of understanding in Western thought. Schleifer argues that this transition in the late nineteenth and early twentieth century expresses itself centrally in an altered conception of temporality. He examines this period's remarkable breaks with the past in literature, music, and the arts more generally. Whereas Enlightenment thought sees time as a homogenous, neutral medium, in which events and actions take place, post-Enlightenment thought sees time as discontinuous and inexorably bound up with both the subjects and events that seem to inhabit it. This fundamental change of perception, Schleifer argues, takes place across disciplines as varied as physics, economics and philosophy. Schleifer's study engages with the work of writers and thinkers as varied as George Eliot, Walter Benjamin, Einstein and Russell, and offers a powerful reassessment of the politics and culture of modernism.
