Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With production from unconventional rigs continuing to escalate and refineries grappling with the challenges of shale and heavier oil feedstocks, petroleum engineers and refinery managers must ensure that equipment used with today's crude oil is protected from fouling deposits Crude Oil Fouling addresses this overarching challenge for the petroleum community with clear explanations on what causes fouling, current models and new approaches to evaluate and study the formation of deposits, and how today's models could be applied from lab experiment to onsite field usability for not just the refinery, but for the rig, platform, or pipeline. Crude Oil Fouling is a must-have reference for every petroleum engineer's library that gives the basic framework needed to analyze, model, and integrate the best fouling strategies and operations for crude oil systems. - Defines the most critical variables and events that cause fouling - Explains the consequences of fouling and its impact on operations, safety, and economics - Provides the technical models available to better predict and eliminate the potential for fouling in any crude system

Book Synopsis Geochemistry of Sulfur in Fossil Fuels by : Wilson L. Orr
Download or read book Geochemistry of Sulfur in Fossil Fuels written by Wilson L. Orr and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Here is the first volume to examine sulfur in fossil fuels from a geochemical perspective. It begins with six introductory chapters that present an overview of the material, historical background, and summaries of the present state of knowledge. Subsequent chapters cover: case studies of specific sedimentary environments; characterization of sulfur in selected coals and petroleums by various methods and techniques; and the major advances in understanding geochemistry at the molecular level. This important volume fills a significant gap in the technical literature and updates the understanding of the chemical processes in geological environments giving rise to sulfur fossil fuels.

Book Synopsis Petroleum, Vol. 3 of 3 by : Boverton Redwood
Download or read book Petroleum, Vol. 3 of 3 written by Boverton Redwood and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-23 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Petroleum, Vol. 3 of 3: A Treatise On, the Geographical Distribution and Geological Occurrence of Petroleum, and Natural Gas; The Physical and Chemical Properties, Production, and Refining of Petroleum and Ozokerite A large number of physical and chemical tests are applied to the raw materials and manufactured products to which this work relates. The industry is conducted upon a basis of recognised standards of quality, and testing is necessary on the one hand to satisfy the refiner that his processes are being properly conducted, and on the other to protect the buyer. Moreover, certain products are required to conform to statutory and municipal regulations, and prescribed tests have to be applied in connection with these restrictions. Crude Petroleum. - The specific gravity of crude petroleum, and the amount of water and earthy matter in suspension, are usually ascertained. In many cases a test of fractional distillation is applied with a View of detecting any admixture of distilled products or residue. In Burma the flashing - point is frequently determined in connection with regulations relating to the transport. It may also be requisite, in the case of a crude oil from a new district, to take note of the colour and odour, to determine the flashing-point, the viscosity, whether separation of solid hydrocarbons takes place on cooling, and if so at what temperature, and whether sulphur is present, and if so in what pro portion also to ascertain experimentally what percentage of the usual com mercial products, oil similar to the sample may be expected to yield on the manufacturing scale. In some instances it may be desirable to determine the elementary composition of an oil and its calorific value.
