Book excerpt: 'The Camper Cookie: Easy Recipes and Cool Tips for Your Campervan Life' is a friendly cookbook full of easy, delicious recipes that you can make in a campervan kitchen. The book also has some really helpful tips for cooking in a campervan like: how to create a capsule larder that uses the same ingredients for many meals or kitchen kit, like silicone lids, that help to make your cooking life easier. The recipes are also really good for weekday meals when you get in from work and want proper food but want something quick and simple. Summer is a passionate campervanner who also loves good food and she now blogs and writes books about the easy, home-style recipes that she creates for the campervan life. Summer and her partner, Glyn, had been camping for many years but got fed up with putting up a tent in the half-light on a Friday night or taking it down in the rain at the end of a wet weekend so decided to buy themselves a small campervan. They went to the campervan shows but realised that their very small budget would buy them barely more than a wheel there! But then they found a company that sold converted Toyota Previas for a reasonable price and their new campervan, 'Trev-the-Prev' came in to their life. Summer had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for many years but healed herself by researching, like a maniac, everything to do with mind-body health. She realised that nutritious food is very important to staying well and happy but found that it was not so easy to cook good food in the limited kitchen that you get in a small campervan. So she started to search for and develop easy real-food recipes that they could cook when they were out having adventures. She loves to share her recipes so she started up a blog (www.thecampercookie.com) and also writes recipe books for campervan cooking. She also demonstrates her recipes on YouTube and at shows.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Forty cookie recipes from chefs, breweries, and bakeries across the U.S. and suggested beer pairings for each. Whether you’re a baker or a drinker with a baking problem, these pages will provide a series of guideposts for how to put together forty rockin’ cookies—collected from celebrated chefs, bakers, and bakeries across the country—with craft beer. The information provides the building blocks for then experimenting with your own cookie and beer combinations. Each cookie, like Steven Satterfield's Chocolate-Almond, Coconut Macaroons, gets its own specific beer (Avery's Brewery Company’s The Reverend) as well as a general style pairing (a quadrupel). Along the way, Cookies & Beer will teach you how to make your own beer syrup for beer milkshakes, make it a night of Girl Scout cookies and beer, and even how to acquire and bake with spent grain (the by-product of beer brewing). And in the end, when you're ready for it, eight cookie recipes actually made with beer and devised by some of the vanguard craft breweries in the United States, are waiting to be baked. This is Cookies & Beer. And you, are about to be popular. Praise for Cookies & Beer “Jonathan Bender brings together two of my favorite subjects—cookies and beer—by weaving together thoughtful and witty stories and anecdotes with honest-to-goodness great recipes from some of the best bakers in the country. Now excuse me while I go and make another batch of these Chocolate Oatmeal Ale Cookies.” —Erin Patinkin, co-author of Ovenly: Sweet and Salty Recipes from New York's Most Creative Bakery “Beer drinkers and cookie lovers unite! This is a collection of some seriously mouthwatering recipes that are taken to the next level by the perfect beer pairing. From Mexican Hot Chocolate Cookies complimented by smoked porter to beer syrup milkshakes, this book is a delicious celebration of Bender’s love for all things baked and brewed.” —Agatha Kulaga, co-author of Ovenly: Sweet and Salty Recipes from New York's Most Creative Bakery

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Camper Book will captivate all those who dream of waving good-bye to the rat race from the window of their own moveable home, be it a camper, RV, travel trailer, camper van, or tiny camper. Not just for placid retirees anymore, camper culture has sprung up among simplicity-seeking millennials, retro-loving "glampers," sports and movie stars, aging hippies, contract workers, "road-schoolers," and others. Award-winning journalist Dave Hoekstra hit the road in his own custom camper van, named Bluebird, to explore the history, culture, subcultures, and future of camper life. Traveling and talking his way through US campsites, RV parks, landmarks, and communities, Hoekstra draws out revealing stories from all walks of life—from Americans who are downsizing material goods while upsizing spiritual pursuits to RV enthusiasts such as Grammy-winning singer-songwriter John Prine and Chicago Cubs manager Joe Maddon. A modern-day Studs Terkel, Hoekstra provides a delightful mix of oral history, in-depth reporting, and practical information, while photographer Jon Sall's beautiful color photographs illuminate the unique people, places, and rigs that typify camper life.
