The searches are performed in a range of production and decay channels predicted by the Standard Model and its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) with data samples corresponding to 200-950 pb{sup 1}. In the absence of signal, the results are used to set upper limits on Higgs production cross sections times branching fractions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The search for the Higgs boson is one of the main goals in High Energy Physics and one of the highest priorities at Run II of the Tevatron. There are many alternative Higgs boson models beyond the SM, including Supersymmetry (SUSY) and Fermiophobic Higgs bosons, which can actively be probed at the Tevatron, and in the absence of an excess constrained. The latest limits for several SUSY searches are presented in Section 2 and for the Fermiophobic Higgs boson searches in Section 3. More information on all these searches, along with the latest results, can be found on the CDF and D0 public results webpages. Results are presented for beyond the Standard Model Higgs boson searches using up to 4.2 fb−1 of data from Run II at the Tevatron. No significant excess is observed in any of the channels so 95% confidence level limits are presented.

Signatures for production of squarks, gluinos, charginos and neutralinos as predicted by gravity- and gauge-mediated SUSY breaking scenarios have been considered. The results reported correspond to an integrated luminosity of up to 2 fb−1 of Run II data from p{bar p} collisions collected by the CDF and D0 experiments at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Searches covered include: the standard model (SM) Higgs boson (including sensitivity projections), the minimal supersymmetric extension of the standard model (MSSM), charged Higgs bosons and extended Higgs models, supersymmetric decays that conserve R-parity, gauge-mediated supersymmetric breaking models, long-lived particles, leptoquarks, extra gauge bosons, extra dimensions, and finally signature-based searches. Given the excellent performance of the collider and the continued productivity of the experiments, the Tevatron physics potential looks very promising for discovery in the coming larger data sets. In particular, the Higgs boson could be observed if its mass is light or near 160 GeV.

Whilst the branching ratio to the di-photon final state is small in the Standard Model, this channel contributes appreciably to the overall Higgs sensitivity at the Tevatron. In parallel, the limit is re-interpreted in fermiophobic models where the di-photon branching ratio is considerably larger. This decay channel will be of major importance in the light mass Standard Model Higgs search at the LHC.

Book excerpt: We search for the pair production of doubly charged Higgs particles followed by the lepton-flavor violating decay of each Higgs into electron-and-tau and muon-and-tau pairs using 350 pb{sup -1} of data collected by the CDF II experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron. Separate searches investigate cases where three or four final state leptons are detected, and the limits for each exclusive decay mode reflect the combined results of both searches. Assuming the H{sup {+-}{+-}}{sub L} decays exclusively into like sign electron-and-tau pairs, we set a lower limit on its mass of 114 GeV/c2 at the 95 % confidence level. In the case of exclusive muon-and-tau decays, we set a lower mass limit of 112 GeV/c2 also at the 95% confidence level.
