Download or read book School's In written by Paul Manna and published by Georgetown University Press. This book was released on 2006-06-01 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For most of the history of the United States, citizens and elected officials alike considered elementary and secondary education to be the quintessential state and local function. Only in the past four decades, from Lyndon B. Johnson's signing of the landmark Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 to George W. Bush's ambitious but controversial "No Child Left Behind" initiative, has Washington's influence over America's schools increased significantly. Today, many Americans have become more convinced that the U.S. government and the states should play an increasingly important role in the nation's schools. In School's In, Paul Manna looks over forty years of national education policymaking and asserts that although Washington's influence over American schools has indeed increased, we should neither overestimate the expansion of federal power nor underestimate the resiliency and continuing influence of the states. States are developing comprehensive—often innovative—education policies, and a wide array of educational issues have appeared on the political agenda at the state and national levels. Manna believes that this overlap is no accident. At the core of his argument is the idea of "borrowing strength," a process by which policy entrepreneurs at one level of government attempt to push their agendas by leveraging the capabilities possessed by other governments in the federal system. Our nation's education agenda, he says, has taken shape through the interaction of policy makers at national and state levels who borrow strength from each other to develop and enact educational reforms. Based on analyses of public laws, presidential speeches, congressional testimony, public opinion, political advertising, and personal interviews, School's In draws on concepts of federalism and agenda-setting to offer an original view of the growing federal role in education policy. It provides insights not only about how education agendas have changed and will likely unfold in the future, but also about the very nature of federalism in the United States.

This book was released on 2023-06-02 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Twenty some years ago most people did not know about Gender Identity Theory. There has been a unified strategy launched in most Western countries to teach Gender/Gender Identity Theory, in school. Surprisingly the facts are that the majority of people seeking Gender Affirming Care are teenage girls, who discover usually while in school, that they are in the wrong body/transgender. The side effect of Gender Affirming Care/the recommended treatment is that most who receive it are sterilized, cannot have biological children. Why would any government want young people to believe in Gender Identity Theory? This book gives the answer, and the answer is fully supported by the facts included in the book. Beyond the emotional cry for transgender rights, is the truth, and this book reveals the facts and the truth!

This book was released on 2024-08-01 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Education is the cornerstone of personal development and societal progress. The journey of education involves numerous stakeholders, each playing a vital role in shaping the experiences and outcomes of students. This book, "The Role of Stakeholders in Education: Government, School Leaders, Teachers, Staff, Parents, Community, and Society Towards Students," aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of how these diverse entities contribute to the educational landscape. The inspiration for this book stems from the need to recognize and articulate the interconnected roles of various stakeholders in the education system. As an educator and researcher, I have witnessed the profound impact that collaborative efforts can have on student success. This book is a culmination of years of observation, research, and practical experience in the field of education. The book is structured to offer an in-depth analysis of the contributions and responsibilities of each stakeholder group. Beginning with the government, we explore how policy formulation, funding, and standard setting lay the foundation for an effective education system. The role of school leaders is examined next, highlighting their responsibilities in setting the vision, managing school operations, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for students and staff.

Book Synopsis Introduction to Zoning and Development Regulation by : David W. Owens
Download or read book Introduction to Zoning and Development Regulation written by David W. Owens and published by Unc School of Government. This book was released on 2014-01-15 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zoning is one of the most visible and important functions of local governments. Few issues will pack a hearing room more quickly than a controversial zoning case that may address questions such as: -Should multifamily or commercial development be allowed on this site? -Will this rezoning increase traffic congestion or lead to overcrowded schools? -Is there any way we can protect this historic neighborhood or these natural resources if this development is approved? -Will this zoning decision stifle economic development? -What will this do to my property values? Many critical zoning decisions such as these are made by citizens serving on government panels. These decisions can have a tremendous impact on landowners, their neighbors, and the future quality of an entire community. Introduction to Zoning and Development Regulation provides a clear, understandable explanation of zoning law for citizen board members and the public. It is an introduction for citizens new to these issues or a refresher for those who have been at the zoning business for some time. This is a useful overview of land use law that will be of interest to anyone interested in or affected by local zoning and development regulation. This revised version replaces Introduction to Zoning, Third Edition, 2007, and all previous editions. Book Synopsis United States Code by : United States
Download or read book United States Code written by United States and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page 1146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The United States Code is the official codification of the general and permanent laws of the United States of America. The Code was first published in 1926, and a new edition of the code has been published every six years since 1934. The 2012 edition of the Code incorporates laws enacted through the One Hundred Twelfth Congress, Second Session, the last of which was signed by the President on January 15, 2013. It does not include laws of the One Hundred Thirteenth Congress, First Session, enacted between January 2, 2013, the date it convened, and January 15, 2013. By statutory authority this edition may be cited "U.S.C. 2012 ed." As adopted in 1926, the Code established prima facie the general and permanent laws of the United States. The underlying statutes reprinted in the Code remained in effect and controlled over the Code in case of any discrepancy. In 1947, Congress began enacting individual titles of the Code into positive law. When a title is enacted into positive law, the underlying statutes are repealed and the title then becomes legal evidence of the law. Currently, 26 of the 51 titles in the Code have been so enacted. These are identified in the table of titles near the beginning of each volume. The Law Revision Counsel of the House of Representatives continues to prepare legislation pursuant to 2 U.S.C. 285b to enact the remainder of the Code, on a title-by-title basis, into positive law. The 2012 edition of the Code was prepared and published under the supervision of Ralph V. Seep, Law Revision Counsel. Grateful acknowledgment is made of the contributions by all who helped in this work, particularly the staffs of the Office of the Law Revision Counsel and the Government Printing Office"--Preface.
