Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Study was conducted to find out the effect of boiler liver extract (BLEX) from rats at different physiological states like early mid late pregnancy and at o,5th,10th and 20th days of lactation to investigate the characteristic of blese in the tissues in relation to its stimulation of amino acids incarportation by the mamary homogenate and also other propesties of the BLEX The invitro protein synthesis by the rat mammary gland was stimulated by the boild liver extract from the lactating rat. The stimulation was 0.9 fold and 0.3 fold in lactating and non lactating mammary homogenates respectively. Such stimulatary activity could not be noticed in blex from non lactating rat s. Dialysed BLEX from lactating rat gave 1.0 fold and 0.4 fold increase in incarporation of amino acids by lactating and non lactation mammary homogenate from non lactating liver the stimulation was less pronounced. The 0-25% ammonium sulphate fraction (Fri) of the BLEX from lactating rat liver exhibited more pronounced stimulation in incarporation of amino acids namely by 4 folds in lactating and 2. folds in non lactating mammary homogenates. The BLEX, dialysed BLEX and other fractions from rats at different stages of pregnancy and lactation revealed that the peak activity resides in the liver tissues of rats at 0 day of lactation. The stimulatory progress in pregnancy and declined with involuation.
