On this day, Governor Kean awarded Mayor Primas of Camden a check for $1, 377, 771 as part of the city's 1985 "Safe and Clean" appropriation, with another check for $729,000 to follow. With local matching funds, Camden wiil have more than $4.2 million to spean on making Camden safer and cleaner. Due to this program, Governor Kean declares that for the first time in decades, the citizens of Camden are walking the streets in confidence.
