Book Synopsis Reactions to the Master by : Francis Ames-Lewis
Download or read book Reactions to the Master written by Francis Ames-Lewis and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-09-29 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The immense effect that Michelangelo had on many artists working in the sixteenth century is widely acknowledged by historians of Italian Renaissance art. Yet until recently greater stress has been placed on the individuality of these artists' styles and interpretation rather than on the elucidation of their debts to others. There has been little direct focus on the ways in which later sixteenth-century artists actually confronted Michelangelo, or how those areas or aspects of their artistic production that are most closely related to his reveal their attitudes and responses to Michelangelo's work. Reactions to the Master presents the first coherent study of the influence exerted by Michelangelo's work in painting and sculpture on artists of the late-Renaissance period including Alessandro Allori, Agnolo Bronzino, Battista Franco, Francesco Parmigianino, Jacopo Pontormo, Francesco Salviati, Raphael, Giorgio Vasari, Marcello Venusti, and Alessandro Vittoria. The essays focus on the direct relations, such as copies and borrowings, previously underrated by art historians, but which here form significant keys to understanding the aesthetic attitudes and broader issues of theory advanced at the time.
Book Synopsis An Introduction to Kinetic Monte Carlo Simulations of Surface Reactions by : A.P.J. Jansen
Download or read book An Introduction to Kinetic Monte Carlo Simulations of Surface Reactions written by A.P.J. Jansen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2012-05-31 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kinetic Monte Carlo (kMC) simulations still represent a quite new area of research, with a rapidly growing number of publications. Broadly speaking, kMC can be applied to any system describable as a set of minima of a potential-energy surface, the evolution of which will then be regarded as hops from one minimum to a neighboring one. The hops in kMC are modeled as stochastic processes and the algorithms use random numbers to determine at which times the hops occur and to which neighboring minimum they go. Sometimes this approach is also called dynamic MC or Stochastic Simulation Algorithm, in particular when it is applied to solving macroscopic rate equations. This book has two objectives. First, it is a primer on the kMC method (predominantly using the lattice-gas model) and thus much of the book will also be useful for applications other than to surface reactions. Second, it is intended to teach the reader what can be learned from kMC simulations of surface reaction kinetics. With these goals in mind, the present text is conceived as a self-contained introduction for students and non-specialist researchers alike who are interested in entering the field and learning about the topic from scratch.

This book was released on 2022-03-28 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes how to perform and optimize the various types of Polymerase Chain Reactions (PCR) for postgraduate students, scholars and researchers in all branches of life science. PCR is a method widely used to rapidly make millions to billions of copies of specific DNA samples, allowing scientists to take a very small sample of DNA and amplify it (or a part of it) to a large enough amount to study in detail. This book also deals with molecular biology reagents preparation and general laboratory procedures, equipment use and safety precautions. The various forms of pathogenic agents drastically affect human society and bring human life notoriously. The correct and exact details of these creatures can be derived through the prompt diagnosis of pathogens as early as possible. The current form of diagnosis is molecular diagnostics, but optimization and standardization are most important for the exact quality of results. This book is written with the need to address the technical problems while optimizing the PCR reactions in mind. The same procedure is fully applicable whenever techniques are being handled in life science laboratories. The textbook encourages the persons who engage in microbiology, molecular biology and life science laboratory to accept and implement basic concepts in various types of PCRs and develop in-house techniques for day-to-day routine activities. This book also deals with the major junk areas while designing primer for various types of PCRs and deals with how to address and troubleshoot the issues that arise while doing various forms of PCRs. This book also deals with post-PCR activities and troubleshooting of gel electrophoresis

Book Synopsis Masters of Wisdom by : Edward Abdill
Download or read book Masters of Wisdom written by Edward Abdill and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2015-05-19 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A rigorous historical and philosophical examination of the controversial spiritual Masters who guided Madame H.P. Blavatsky in opening the world to Eastern and esoteric spirituality in the late nineteenth century. In the late nineteenth century, Russian noblewoman and occult philosopher Madame H.P. Blavatsky enthralled the world with revelations of an ancient “secret doctrine” behind the major faiths and a cosmic theology that united the insights of religion and science. Blavatsky said she was operating under the guidance of hidden Masters of wisdom, or mahatmas, who led her to reveal forgotten wisdom to modern people. The mythos of Blavatsky’s Masters left a deep mark on Western culture and spawned more than a century of debate: Were the Masters real? What did they teach? Are they reachable today? Now, independent scholar of religion Edward Abdill provides an authoritative, historically reliable, and delightfully readable study of the background and ideas of the Masters – in particular highlighting their message and its enduring relevance.

Book Synopsis Comprehensive Chemical Kinetics by : Nicholas Green
Download or read book Comprehensive Chemical Kinetics written by Nicholas Green and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2003-11-21 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unimolecular reactions are in principle the simplest chemical reactions, because they only involve one molecule. The basic mechanism, in which the competition between the chemical reaction step and a collisional deactivation leads to a pressure-dependent coefficient, has been understood for a long time. However, this is a rapidly developing field, and many new and important discoveries have been made in the past decade. This First Part Part of Two CCK Volumes dealing with Unimolecular Rections, deals with the Reaction Step. The first chapter is an introduction to the whole project, aiming to cover the material necessary to understand the content of the detailed chapters, as well as the history of the development of the area. Chapter 2 is a review of the modern view of the statistical theories, as embodied in the various forms of RRKM theory. Chapter 3 deals with the fully quantum mechanical view of reactive states as resonances. . Presents considerable advances in the field made during the last decade. . Treats both the statistical as well as the fully quantum mechanical view.
