Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life is unpredictable. We are given no map at birth, and yet we wade through the adventure together, learning different things along the way while collecting experiences. Excerpts from an Abstract Mind is a poetry collection about the chance encounters, lessons learned, and ideologies acquired by author Ewana Hines as she plays witness from the sidelines of life. She tells stories about a frightening Ouija board and a caged lion that yearns to be free, but she also delves into philosophy and personal battles. For instance, there are times in this mad life when we must run and other times when we must stand and fight. Ewana enumerates the importance of trying while asking questions and then answering them. The book is a passionate tango between fervent beliefs and carnal flesh. At times, it dances past political correctness on its path toward the priceless treasure of love for self, the Lord, and our fellow human. This journey unfolds through the lenses of poetry and narrative storytelling. Come and see where the abstract mind will go.

Her father owned part of it; her husband David was the lawyer for the show, and her husband's cousin, Eddie Greene, was the host. She also knew its dark side: Morris Chumbsky, the gangster businessman; Sophia who danced on the show and bewitched Eddie, and Sophia's uncle, who was head of the Vice Squad and wanted Eddie dead. It was just a matter of time until there were murders, investigations, and great personal loss for Naomi."-- p. [4] cover.
Book Synopsis Confederate Rage, Yankee Wrath by : George S Burkhardt
Download or read book Confederate Rage, Yankee Wrath written by George S Burkhardt and published by SIU Press. This book was released on 2013-01-16 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This provocative study proves the existence of a de facto Confederate policy of giving no quarter to captured black combatants during the Civil War—killing them instead of treating them as prisoners of war. Rather than looking at the massacres as a series of discrete and random events, this work examines each as part of a ruthless but standard practice. Author George S. Burkhardt details a fascinating case that the Confederates followed a consistent pattern of murder against the black soldiers who served in Northern armies after Lincoln’s 1863 Emancipation Proclamation. He shows subsequent retaliation by black soldiers and further escalation by the Confederates, including the execution of some captured white Federal soldiers, those proscribed as cavalry raiders, foragers, or house-burners, and even some captured in traditional battles. Further disproving the notion of Confederates as victims who were merely trying to defend their homes, Burkhardt explores the motivations behind the soldiers’ actions and shows the Confederates’ rage at the sight of former slaves—still considered property, not men—fighting them as equals on the battlefield. Burkhardt’s narrative approach recovers important dimensions of the war that until now have not been fully explored by historians, effectively describing the systemic pattern that pushed the conflict toward a black flag, take-no-prisoners struggle.

Book Synopsis THRESHING FLOOR D.I.Y STYLE: A NEW APPROACH FOR A NEW GENERATION; From Harvest To Seed by : DR WALTER MASOCHA
Download or read book THRESHING FLOOR D.I.Y STYLE: A NEW APPROACH FOR A NEW GENERATION; From Harvest To Seed written by DR WALTER MASOCHA and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2013-08 with total page 233 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Bible suggests that unbelievers are a crop ready for harvest. When harvested, they are taken to the threshing floor, where husks and chaff are removed to reveal the precious seed (Matt. 3:11-12; 9:35-38). This book develops the concept of 'Threshing floor' by simple reference to a typical sub-urban town-house or mansion with nine floors, each of them being a 'Threshing Floor'. For various reasons, many Christians are uncomfortable to approach someone else for counselling. Fatally wounded by fellow Christians, whether leaders or not, they quietly withdraw from the Church. Alternatively, they stay put, but deeply wounded and hurt, they limp along and remain in the Church. They become religious. This book offers a new, innovative, 'D.I.Y' approach to Christian Counselling, whereby one approaches others only in the event of failure of the D.I.Y. process. Touching on various character and behavioural attributes, the Bible is explored to clinically analyse scriptures, offering chances for the wounded and those who wound others to get 'self-threshed' by the Word of God on different theoretical 'floors' in the 'House God' (Psalm 23:6). When fully threshed, they serve in God's house with a sweet spirit, agape love, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Book Synopsis Mad Blood Stirring by : Daemon Fairless
Download or read book Mad Blood Stirring written by Daemon Fairless and published by Random House Canada. This book was released on 2018-03-06 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With a rare clarity and fearless honesty, journalist Daemon Fairless tackles the horrors and compulsions of male violence from the perspective of someone who struggles with violent impulses himself, creating a non-fiction masterpiece with the narrative power of novels such as Fight Club and A History of Violence. A man, no matter how civilized, is still an animal--and sometimes a dangerous one. Men are responsible for the lion's share of assault, rape, murder and warfare. Conventional wisdom chalks this up to socialization, that men are taught to be violent. And they are. But there's more to it. Violence is a dangerous desire--a set of powerful and inherent emotions we are loath to own up to. And so there remains a hidden geography to male violence--an inner ecosystem of rage, dominance, blood-lust, insecurity and bravado--yet to be mapped. Mad Blood Stirring is journalist Daemon Fairless's riveting first-person travelogue through this territory as he seeks to understand the inner lives of violent men and, ultimately, himself.
Download or read book One-Two written by Igor Eliseev and published by Glagoslav Publications. This book was released on 2018-01-01 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two conjoined babies are born at the intersection of two social worldviews. The girls are named Faith and Hope. After spending their childhood in a foster home and obtaining a basic education, they come to realise that they are different from other people in many respects. The problems of their upbringing are only made worse by the constant humiliations they suffer at the hands of society. Eventually, fortune smiles on them, by seemingly opening up the door to happiness: a separation surgery that can theoretically be performed in the capital. Thus begins a journey fraught with difficulties and obstacles for the sisters. Will they be able to get past the wall of public cynicism, together with the internal conflicts they have among themselves? Will they find a justification for their existence and learn to accept it? The search for the answers to these and many other questions constitutes the essence of this novel. One-Two is a psychological drama, the main events of which unfold in the 1980s and 1990s in Russia. The novel reflects on how difficult it is to be a human and how important it is to stay human until the end. It is a message full of empathy and kindness addressed to all people.
