This book was released on 2020-09-28 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. In 2019, 40 years after the first election of members of the European Parliament by direct universal suffrage in 1979, the citizens of the Union were called to the polls for the ninth time. Between these two dates, the European Parliament changed dramatically, from a mere consultative assembly to the ordinary co-legislator of a European Union plagued by many crises. This book draws on an international conference held at the University of Bordeaux on May 9 and 10, 2019. The various contributions therein intend to take stock, examine the challenges and envisage the prospects, not only of the 2019 European elections but also of representative European democracy in general.

Book Synopsis Global Imbalances and Financial Capitalism by : Jacques Mazier
Download or read book Global Imbalances and Financial Capitalism written by Jacques Mazier and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2020-05-07 with total page 319 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The past few decades have witnessed the emergence of economic imbalances at the world level and within the euro zone. The failure of mainstream economics to accurately predict financial crises, or model the effects of finance-led growth, highlights the need for alternative frameworks. A key text, Global Imbalances and Financial Capitalism: Stock-Flow-Consistent Modelling demonstrates that Stock-Flow-Consistent models are well adapted to study this growth regime due to their ability to analyse the real and financial sides of the economy in an integrated way. This approach is combined with an analysis of exchange rate misalignments using the Fundamental Equilibrium Exchange Rate (FEER) methodology, which serves to give a synthetic view of international imbalances. Together, these models describe how global and regional imbalances are created, as well as suggest appropriate tools through which they may be reduced. The book also considers alternative economic policies in the euro zone (international risk sharing, fiscal federalism, eurobonds, European investments, a multispeed euro zone) alongside alternative monetary policies. In particular, it examines the possibilities of using SDR (Special Drawing Rights) as a reserve asset to be issued to fight a global recession, to support the development of low-income countries, or as an anchor to improve global monetary stability. This text will be of interest to students, scholars, and researchers of economic theory and international monetary economics. It will also appeal to professional organisations who supervise international relations.

Book Synopsis Advancing Pluralism in Teaching Economics by : Samuel Decker
Download or read book Advancing Pluralism in Teaching Economics written by Samuel Decker and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-09-03 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complex economic problems of the 21st century require a pluralist, real-world oriented and innovative discipline of economics that is capable of addressing and teaching these issues to students. This volume is a state-of-the-art compilation of diverse, innovative and international perspectives on the rationales for and pathways towards pluralist economics teaching. It fosters constructive controversy aiming to incite authors and commentators to engage in fruitful debates. This volume addresses a number of key questions: Why is it important for a social science to engage in pluralistic teaching? What issues does pluralist teaching face in different national contexts? Which traditions and practices in economic teaching make pluralist teaching difficult? What makes economics as a canonical textbook science particular and how could the rigid textbook system be innovated in a meaningful way? What can we learn from school education and other social science disciplines? Through examining these issues the editors have created a pluralist but cohesive book on teaching economics in the contemporary classroom drawing from ideas and examples from around the world. Advancing Pluralism in Teaching Economics offers a valuable insight into the methodology and application of pluralist economics teaching. It will be a great resource for those teaching economics at various levels, as well as researchers.

Book Synopsis Le gouvernement économique de la zone euro by : France. Commissariat général du plan
Download or read book Le gouvernement économique de la zone euro written by France. Commissariat général du plan and published by La Documentation Française. This book was released on 1999 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis Quel gouvernement économique pour l'Union européenne by : Jocelyn Guitton
Download or read book Quel gouvernement économique pour l'Union européenne written by Jocelyn Guitton and published by Primento. This book was released on 2013-09-04 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
