Book Synopsis Introduction to EU Law by : Özgür Heval Çınar
Download or read book Introduction to EU Law written by Özgür Heval Çınar and published by . This book was released on 2021-02-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The real reason for the emergence of this book is that it is hard to find resources to explain complex issues of the EU Law in plain language, which makes it very difficult for those taking an interest, in particular law students. Moreover, many years of teaching experience in this subject and seeing students experience difficulties is the key driver behind this book. This book does not repeat material that is available in many textbooks that are in print. Rather, it endeavours to present every topic in plain language and concludes every chapter with a fictitious explanatory sample case. In other words, it is an introduction to the subject of EU Law, the objective of which is to explain the topic both theoretically and in its application dimension. Additionally, this book will assist students to prepare for examinations. At the end of the book there is also a test that summarizes all the subjects contained in the book, which is appropriate to the first stage SQE (Solicitors Qualifying Examination) examination model that will be introduced in September 2021.EU Law Book by Dr Çınar is different than other textbooks in the market, as it is designed to make sense of a complex area of law in a simple yet comprehensive way. The book contains materials relating to EU law with all the notable cases and materials collected in one place. It is written in plain language in the form of question and answers. At the end of each chapter, there is a case study which helps to put theory into practice. EU Law is accessible, readable and user- friendly. I would recommend it without hesitation to legal scholars and practitioners. Dr Aysem Diker Vanberg, Senior Lecturer, University of GreenwichThis clear and concise book provides a practical overview of EU law and will be an excellent study aid for law students. It explains the key topics of EU law in an accessible and engaging manner through a Q&A model and case studies that demonstrate how the law is applied. Dr Johanna Hoekstra, Lecturer, University of EssexThe is an accessible, easy to read and very useful book covering all the essential areas of EU law making them easily understood. Book Synopsis The Human Rights-Based Approach to Higher Education by : Jane Kotzmann
Download or read book The Human Rights-Based Approach to Higher Education written by Jane Kotzmann and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2018-04-05 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A human right to higher education was included in the International Covenant on Economic Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), which came into force in 1976. Yet the world has changed significantly since the ICESCR was drafted. State legislation and policies have generally followed a neoliberal trajectory, shifting the perception of higher education from being a public good to being a commodity able to be bought and sold. This model has been criticized, particularly because it generally reinforces social inequality. At the same time, attaining higher education has become more important than ever before. Higher education is a prerequisite for many jobs and those who have attained higher education enjoy improved life circumstances. This book seeks to determine: Is there still a place for the human right to higher education in the current international context? In seeking to answer this question, this book compares and contrasts two general theoretical models that are used to frame higher education policy: the market-based approach and the human rights-based approach. In the process, it contributes to an understanding of the likely effectiveness of market-based versus human rights-based approaches to higher education provision in terms of teaching and learning. This understanding should enable the development of more improved, sophisticated, and ultimately successful higher education policies. This book contends that a human rights-based approach to higher education policy is more likely to enable the achievement of higher education purposes than a market-based approach. In reaching this conclusion, the book identifies and addresses some strategic considerations of relevance for advocates of a human rights-based approach in this context.

Book Synopsis The Translation of European Union Legislation by : Francesca Seracini
Download or read book The Translation of European Union Legislation written by Francesca Seracini and published by LED Edizioni Universitarie. This book was released on 2020-08-25T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a study into the norms that come into play in the translation of European Union legislation. With a focus on expressions of modality, the study adopts a corpus-based Descriptive Translation Studies approach to analyse the translation strategies used in a bilingual English/Italian parallel corpus of European Union legislation and identify the most frequent translational patterns. The book outlines the principles at the basis of the multilingual policy at the European Union and provides a detailed outline of the context in which the drafting and translation processes take place as a key to understanding the translational choices. The impact of sometimes contrasting factors such as the conventions of legal drafting at the European Union and those within the target culture, the principle of equal authenticity and the attention to the quality and readability of legislative texts is revealed in the analysis. Evidence in support of the theories concerning translation universals is also found and their implications for EU legal translation are discussed. The results lead to the formulation of several hypotheses as regards the norms governing the translation of EU legislative texts. The book also reflects on the impact that the translational choices have on the development of European Union legal language as an independent variety. This volume will be of interest to researchers and students in the fields of Legal Translation Studies and Linguistics, as well as practising translators.

Book Synopsis Business and Institutional Translation by : Éric Poirier
Download or read book Business and Institutional Translation written by Éric Poirier and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2018-11-12 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume of economic, business, financial and institutional translation increases daily. Governments strive to produce plain and accessible information. Institutions and agencies operate in more than one language. Multinationals produce documents in multiple languages to expand their services worldwide, and large businesses and SMEs also have to adopt a multilingual approach for accessing new markets in new countries. Translation and interpreting training institutions are aware of the increasing need for training in this area. This awareness is evident in their curricula, which include subjects related to these areas of activity. Trainers and researchers are increasingly interested in knowing and researching the intricacies and aspects of this type of translation. This peer-reviewed publication, resulting from ICEBFIT 2016, echoes the voices of translation practitioners, researchers, and teachers, as well as other parties gathered to discuss new issues in institutional translation and business, finance and accounting translation, as well as, in a larger sense, specialized translation.
