Des mesures simultanées d'ATD et d'ATG ont servi à comparer les thermicités et les vitesses de décomposition de ces différents constituants. La thermocompression a permis de conférer au bois une densité deux fois supérieure à celle du bois brut. L'activation chimique a permis d'obtenir des surfaces spécifiques élevées ainsi que de bonnes capacités d'adsorption. Des mesures de capacité d'adsorption d'ions métalliques donnent des résultats importants. Une loi cinétique pseudo ordre 2 simule correctement l'adsorption de Cr(VI) en solution.

Ce groupe de recherche est dirigé depuis 1971 par le Professeur F. Stoeckli. Le projet commun de recherche du groupe peut être défini comme l'étude de l'adsorption physique des différentes surfaces solides et le traitement et description de l'adsorption par la théorie de Dubinin. Dans ce cadre le travail ici présenté complémente d'une façon explicite la fabrication et caractérisation d'un type de solides poreux hautement utilisés comme le sont les charbons actifs. Brièvement un charbon actif est un matériel solide résistant aux hautes températures avec une capacité d'adsorption qui est définie par le volume poreux et les groupes fonctionnels, principalement oxygénés, qui se trouvent à la surface. Les applications principales du charbon actif sont entre autres la purification, décoloration, désodorisation et en général la désintoxication des eaux potables ainsi que la purification de l'air et des produits chimiques, alimentaires & tc. A l'heure actuelle la demande croissante de matériaux adsorbants pour des procédés de protection de l'environnement suscite une recherche complémentaire dans la fabrication des charbons actifs à partir de matières qui ne sont pas classiques, concrètement à partir des déchets végétaux. Elaborer des charbons actifs à partir des déchets végétaux est pourtant très intéressant du point de vue économique car nous profitons, à partir de transformations simples, d'une application directe de ces matériaux de départ. On a donc trouvé intéressant de montrer comment se déroule la transition d'un matériau végétal à un charbon actif. Dans ce contexte nous pouvons définir comme objectifs principaux de ce travail : Ce travail montre une différentiation du matériau végétal à partir de sa composition chimique ainsi que l'obtention de la surface poreuse optimal dans les conditions de production utilisées.

In fact, this process is very old. In older industries such the food and agricultural, this technique has been extensively used. An example of this is the production of pork sausages and Roquefort cheese. Pharmaceutical industry could make extensive use of SSF in the production of secondary metabolites of many kinds and development in this direction is soon expected.
