Dieses Fach gibt es in Nordrhein-Westfalen erst seit 1997/98 und ich habe mich zunächst damit beschäftigt, was unter Praktischer Philosophie zu verstehen ist und aus welchen Gründen dieses neue Unterrichtsfach in den Fächerkanon der Schulen aufgenommen wurde. Es geschieht nicht oft, dass ein völlig neues Fach eingerichtet wird. Danach beschreibe ich die Entwicklung des Religionsunterrichts seit dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges, die eng mit der Entwicklung der Praktischen Philosophie in Verbindung steht, um mich daran anschließend mit den Zielen und Inhalten auseinanderzusetzen. Im sechsten Punkt stelle ich den Schulversuch in Nordrhein-Westfalen vor. Da unser Seminar das Thema "Werterziehung und Schule" hat, werde ich mich intensiv damit auseinandersetzen, was die Praktische Philosophie zur Werteerziehung in der Schule beitragen kann und wie sich dies realisieren lassen könnte. Auch ein Vergleich mit dem Parallelfach Religionskunde wird in meinem Referat, wenn auch kurz und knapp, behandelt. Im vorletzten Punkt habe ich versucht, die negativen Aspekte herauszuarbeiten, wobei vor allem die Angst vor einer "kollektiven Sittlichkeit" eine größere Rolle spielt (Treml 1994:15). Zuletzt werde ich dann ein Fazit ziehen: Hat sich der Schulversuch in NRW gelohnt? Anmerken möchte ich noch, dass ich im Folgenden, wenn ich von "den Schülern" spreche, immer Schülerinnen und Schüler meine.
