Book Synopsis Thermodynamics of Polymer Solutions by : Kenji Kamide
Download or read book Thermodynamics of Polymer Solutions written by Kenji Kamide and published by Elsevier Publishing Company. This book was released on 1990 with total page 672 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the first self-contained book on the thermodynamics and critical phenomena of polymer solutions, ranging from the rather elementary level to the advanced and up-to-date level. The book covers the rigorous theories of phase equilibrium, computer experiments based on these theories, as well as actual experiments, molecular fractionation and application to membrane and fiber production. An extensive list of references and literature data on the thermodynamic interaction x-parameter, critical point, fractionation and polymer blends is also provided. This book should prove invaluable for courses on polymer science, thermodynamics and polymer solutions at graduate, university and polytechnic level.

Book Synopsis Polymer Phase Diagrams by : Ronald Koningsveld
Download or read book Polymer Phase Diagrams written by Ronald Koningsveld and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2001 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Polymeric materials include plastics, gels, synthetic fibres, and rubbers. They are all-important both in industry and in daily life. Unlike liquid water, ice, or sugar solution, polymers are not homogeneous. They are said to consist of two or more phases, and their production and processing, as well as their properties and uses, depend on an understanding of the transitions that take place between these phases. This new textbook uses fundamental principles to classify phase separation phenomena in polymer systems, and describes simple molecular models explaining the observed behaviour.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Critical phenomena of a polymer solution or blend is an interesting topic for researchers to study extensively theoretically and experimentally for many decades. Polymer phase separation has a morphology of dot, line or bi-continuous shape. Application of this phase separation morphology is used for many potential applications such as photovoltaic devices, light-emitting diodes, antireflection coatings and biological devices. Moreover, a new phase-change material might be found to have the best germanium, antimony and tellurium (Ge-Sb-Te) alloy. The goal was to find the best contrast between the crystalline and amorphous states and they are used for electronic device memory either DRAM or Flash chips finally. For polymer solutions, many approaches and techniques have been used to determine the coexistence curve including the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) and the upper critical solution temperature (UCST). A modified centrifugal apparatus for measuring the coexistence curves of a polymer solution: polystyrene solution in methyl cyclohexane is reported for the first time in research laboratory. The polymer blend phase separation morphology is applied to the lithography patterning for the first time. And it is then invented as a patent and proposed for industrial application by the author of this book this year.

This book was released on 2013-03-12 with total page 691 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a record of a symposium, "Ultrafiltration Membranes and Applications," which was held at the l78th National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in Washington, D.C., September 11-13, 1979. In organlzlng these sessions, I hoped to provide a comprehensive survey of the current state of ultrafiltration theory, the most recent advances in membrane technology, and a thorough treatment of existing applications and future directions for ultrafiltration. For me, the symposium was an outstanding success. It was a truly international forum with stimulating presentations and an enthusiastic audience. I hope that some of this spirit has spilled over into this volume, which is intended to reach a much wider audience. I am indebted to the Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry of the American Chemical Society for their sponsorship. ANTHONY R. COOPER Palo Alto, California }larch, 1980 vii CONTENTS PART I.
