Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Colin Craig had never believed in "flying saucers" and had discounted tales of "alien abductions" as hallucinations. In one horrifying moment, he becomes the latest abductee. Horror turns to despair when he learns he will be transported to a star system thousands of light-years away, never to return home. On the distant planet Culuma, Craig encounters sights and creatures beyond his wildest imagining. Under the tutelage of the haughty alien called Tharalane, he begins a new chapter in his life; with the beautiful alien called Sirian, he finds true love. And he learns of the "Seranane Construct," an experiment of monumental proportions stretching across tens of thousands of years. The Seranane Construct is the ultimate "alien abduction" story and explores a possible "origin of species" of the human race.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No Trifling Matter is a collection of controversial, critical weekly commentary on the reluctance of a monolithic regime to yield to popular aspirations for democracy in Cameroon. In these essays written between 1990 and November 1992, Godfrey Tangwa, alias Rotcod Gobata, doesn't quibble. He comes across as a man of courage and resolve; one ready to swim upstream in a manner of a desperate midwife eager to prevent a still birth (in this case, of democracy). His column is as daring an embarrassment to Biya's "démocratie avancée" as the radio programme "Cameroon Report" (later "Cameroon Calling"), was to Presidents Ahidjo and Biya in the hey days of the "parti unique". Rotcod Gobata believes the time has come for Cameroon to graduate from a country over milked by mediocrity and callous indifference, to the paradise that it was meant to be for the poor and downtrodden. In this regard, he belongs with that rare breed of intellectuals who are genuine in their pursuit of collective betterment, and who in consequence, have opted to distance themselves from the stomach and all its trappings. This position is to be commended and encouraged, especially in a system where explanation is often mistaken for subversion, a system where the stomach is about the only political path-finder - the sole compass in use, a country where the champions of falsehood want all at their beck and call, and where a handful of thirsting palates daily jostle to share with Count Dracula the blood of the common and forgotten. Rotcod Gobata wants the new Cameroon to be rid of the ills and failures of the past five decades that have made it impossible for Cameroonians in their millions to live productive and creative lives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contact between Islam and the West is 1400 years old. Both sides have had more than adequate time to become familiar with the other. Yet the world is still arguing about Islam’s teachings. Is Islam peaceful? Does it commend violence? Does Islam respect “the other”? Does Islam abuse women? Is Islam anti-Semitic? Does Islam teach the Torment of the Grave? Does Islam recommend the beating of wives? Do Muslim Scriptures commend Temporary Marriage of Pleasure? Did Zayd divorce Zaynab because he had no further need of her? All these questions are easy to settle for anyone who can read Islamic Scripture in Arabic. The author of this book is such a person. However, to answer all these questions in the affirmative would do the image of Islam much damage in the West, where Islam is keen to present a polished image, especially in the light of much violence committed in its name against westerners. Muslim leaders, and their allies in the West, have popularised a distinction between Muslims and Islamists, in order to distance Islam from thousands of heinous Muslim crimes such as the Charlie Hebdo massacre. Are the English translations of the Qur’an faithful to the original Arabic? Or are they part of the charm offensive Muslim Petro-dollars have financed for years, through sponsorship of university departments of Islamic studies, investing in western media and publishing, building Islamic centres and financing Islamic societies and pressure groups throughout the West. This work gives English readers the ability to access the original Arabic of the Qur’an and hadith, and see the true face of Islam, without its face powder. It is hoped that this work will assist free thinkers to form their own opinion of Islam, based on the true Qur’an, without interference from Muslim propaganda or any agenda driven discourses.

This book was released on 2008-06-26 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph presents a morpho-syntactic investigation on modality, aspect, and negation by concentrating on Persian, and is designed to contribute to theoretical linguistics and the study of Iranian languages. The analysis is based on the Minimalist program. This research challenges the idea that the syntactic structure maps on the semantic interpretation or vice versa. The discussion presented in this monograph shows that the syntactic structure of Persian modals is uniform no matter if the modals are interpreted as having root or epistemic readings. Although it is claimed that modals are raising constructions in different languages, modals in Persian, which does not have subject-raising constructions, show a different syntactic behavior. Furthermore, the structural analysis of the interaction of Persian modals and negation shows that because of the scope interaction of negation and modals, the syntactic structure of modals with respect to negation mostly corresponds to the semantic interpretation of modals.
