Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Join Mary Cole Patterson as she walks through The Second Time Around, a book of poetry primarily about her late husband, Roger. Read as she questions and prays her way through her husband’s final battle for life here on earth. Smile as she notes he would be pleased with the specific day he died—Pearl Harbor Day—because having been a soldier in Vietnam was important to him. Although grief is a difficult subject to approach, she does it through poetry in crisp quick images as in “How Did You Imagine It?” or with rhymes as in “The Hours in the Day Are Long.” “How Did You Imagine It?”—Close your eyes. Listen to the soft rustling of clothing as everyone sat down. Did you hear the varoooom of the cannons in the distance? “The Hours in the Day Are Long”—My heart aches with missing you; I know it always will. My life’s in a thousand pieces I feel. Patterson lays out her personal agony for the world to see in hopes her words help you deal with your own loss. This walk for her was difficult. She prays her words assist you in your walk through your own grief, however recent it may be.

Download or read book Mesmerized Love written by Mannat Hela and published by The Little Booktique Hub. This book was released on with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Love is the source of all happiness, joy, and tranquilly. As a result, if we wish to appreciate this trip known as life, we must first understand what true love is. True love is more than a kiss; it is happiness. True love from the Divine Soul comes from the time we are born as love for our parents, love for our friends, and continues until we die, just as white light flows through raindrops to produce a rainbow of seven hues. Emotional love, sensual love, and intellectual love are all examples. The dead body, on the other hand, cannot love since it is the Soul, the Spirit, who loves. Love is essential if we actually wish to live a spiritual life. “Mesmerized Love” consists of several co-authors from all over the globe who have dedicated their inked verses as a poem, quote, micro tale or a short story which revolves around the open theme. We are hoping for the great success of this book, a free anthology launched by The Little Booktique Hub Publication in which none of the co-authors are charged a single penny throughout the publishing process.

Three months before his sixty-fifth birthday, Albert receives a letter from the Royal Mail thanking him for decades of service and stating that he is being forced into retirement. At once, Albert’s simple life unravels. Without the work that fills his days, what will he do? He has no friends, family, or hobbies—just a past he never speaks of, and a lost love that fills him with regret. And so, rather than continue his lonely existence, Albert forms a brave plan to start truly living, to be honest about who he is . . . and to find George, the man with whom he spent one perfect spring and summer long ago. One painful yet exhilarating step at a time, Albert begins searching for George and revealing his story to those around him. As he does, something extraordinary happens. Albert finds unlikely allies, new friends, and the courage to help others—even as he seeks the happiness he’s always denied himself. Beautifully written, funny, and wise, The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle is a book to fall in love with and to be inspired by, one that proves it is never too late to live, to hope, and to love. A Note from Matt Cain, the author of The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle: “One of the things that inspired me to write this novel was all the joy I felt at seeing gay men like myself being embraced by British society. I think you'd be hard-pushed to find any other minority community in the UK that was as hated, feared and vilified as gay men were fifty years ago and is now as widely celebrated and loved. Acceptance of gay men has become a touchstone of British values within less than a decade, something that even the most optimistic commentators couldn’t have predicted. I wanted to write a book that would celebrate this. And I sincerely hope The Secret Life of Albert Entwistle makes its readers feel good about themselves and the part they’ve played in bringing about this extraordinary social shift.” —Matt Cain

Download or read book The Berliners written by C. L. Parks and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-06-17 with total page 427 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Berliners is a collection of stories revolving around three very different pairs of lovers who find each other at the wrong place and the wrong time. The place: Berlin, Germany. The time: three decades in the twentieth century, each with its own unique social and political implications. The tragedy of true love both found and forbidden cycles in each story. The question remaining to be answered during the course of each plot is whether or not our heroes will be able to overcome the obstacles of war, political division, and racism and finally arrive at both accepting themselves and being accepted by society in their unique time and place. The story of Heinrich and Paul follows their relationship from adolescence during compulsory attendance at a Hitler Youth program and on through their years of self-loathing as members of the Nazi Party and armed forces. The antiheroes of this story struggle to accept themselves and their sexuality while also battling the guilt and hypocrisy of their crimes and inhumanity under the Third Reich. During the 1970s, we witness the serendipitous affair between West Berliner Thomas Gaettens and East Berliner Marita Luettig. Their brief relationship spans the limits of the Berlin Wall and family obligation over personal indulgence. Our protagonists are faced with the difficult prospect of overcoming the barrier that stands between their two worlds. Their dangerous relationship is quickly enveloped in suspicion, fear, and hopelessness under the pressure of the authoritarian government and its powerful police force, the Stasi. Finally, the contemporary tale of Hilal and Peter recounts the turbulent love story of a young German student and Turkish girl from school. This story is based on true events that took place in Berlin in 2006. The conflicts that exist even today between the former guest-worker Turkish population of Germany and the native Germans is reflected in the couple’s confrontation against the conservative, religious views of Hilal’s father. In the final chapters of the novel, our three stories begin to intertwine in modern times. Berlin herself is perhaps the main character of the entire book, bearing witness to this recurring motif of lovers unable to find peace with each other in the capital. The reader is left to question why the universality of this theme seems to exist and reemerge throughout human history, particularly in the history of Berlin and Germany.
