Book excerpt: Pour répondre à un besoin grandissant de fabrication de produits en verre, en petite et en moyenne série, le premier robot souffleur de verre a été développé tout récemment. Face à cette nouvelle technologie qui intéresse paticulièrement les cristalleries, le savoir-faire reste à ce jour l'élément décisionnel principal qui intervient dans les choix de conception et de mise au point de ces nouveaux procédés. Les modèles éléments finis de ce nouveau procédé robotisé de soufflage ont été développés. Une fois les étapes du procédé analysées, une première étude de sensibilité a permis de dégager les paramètres essentiels au succès de l'opération. Deux essais de caractérisation ont donc été développés in situ pour l'identification, par méthode inverse, du coefficient d'échange par convection avec l'air ambiant et de la loi de viscosité en fonction de la température. Pour le premier essai, la température de surface calculée avec un modèle en différences finies est comparée aux relevés effectués par pyrométre en un point d'un lingot de verre en rotation. Pour le second, les allongements calculés avec une modélisation thermomécanique par éléments finis sont comparés aux allongements d'une masse de verre mesurés sur un enregistrement vidéo. S'appuyant sur les résultats de ces identifications, un optimiseur a été développé pour régler virtuellement, en déterminant les paramètres de mise en forme optima, le procédé de formage d'un vase cylindrique droit. Une seconde optimisation a permis de déterminer la forme initiale de la paraison, paramètre primordial dans la réussite de la fabrication d'un vase cylindrique convexe. Finalement, les outils numériques ont pû être validés lors de campagnes d'essais effectuées dans les cristallerie Val Saint Lambert (Belgique) et Rogaska (Slovénie)

Le développement d’un élément de contact permet, en relation avec les niveaux de pression et de température, d’intégrer les valeurs de hc identifiées dans la simulation par la Méthode des Eléments Finis de la mise en forme du verre. Un des points originaux de ces travaux est l’analyse de l’impact de la lubrification sur hc identifié et sur les températures calculées dans le verre et dans les outils de formage lors de la mise en forme par procédé soufflé-soufflé et pressé-soufflé.
