Book Synopsis Solar Materials Science by : Lawrence Murr
Download or read book Solar Materials Science written by Lawrence Murr and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 801 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solar Materials Science is a collection of lecture series on solar and other related energy technologies, sponsored by the New Mexico Joint Center for Materials Science. This book is divided into three sections encompassing 21 chapters that discuss the basic concepts of materials science, their utilization in solar technology, and examples of this utilization and the technology. The introductory chapters present an overview of the solar materials science and technology. Section I describes the optical properties, microstructure, and materials used in solar collectors and mirrors. This section also examines metals emissivity, spectral selectivity of composite for absorbers, and corrosion of solar thermal energy materials. Section II deals with the application of thermodynamic principles and reversible chemical reactions to solar storage systems. This section also considers the materials problems encountered during the development of thermochemical concepts and schemes. Section III focuses on the principles, materials used, and encountered problems in the development of photovoltaic systems. The optimization of solar conversion devices is also covered in this section. Undergraduate and graduate students in metallurgy, metallurgical and materials engineering, materials science, electrical and mechanical engineering, engineering science, and solid-state physics and chemistry will greatly benefit from this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Corrosion engineers today spend enormous amounts of time and money searching multiple detailed sources and variable industry-specific standards to locate known remedies to corrosion equipment problems. Corrosion Atlas Series is the first centralized collection of case studies containing challenges paired directly with solutions together in one location. The second release of content in the series, Corrosion Atlas Case Studies: 2021 Edition, gives engineers expedient daily corrosion solutions for common industrial equipment, no matter the industry. Providing a purely operational level view, this reference is designed as concise case studies categorized by material and includes content surrounding the phenomenon, equipment appearance supported by a color image, time of service, conditions where the corrosion occurred, cause, and suggested remedies within each case study. Additional reference listings for deeper understanding beyond the practical elements are also included. Rounding out with an introductory foundational layer of corrosion principles critical to all engineers, Corrosion Atlas Case Studies: 2021 Edition delivers the daily tool required for engineers today to solve their equipment’s corrosion problems. Solves equipment failure with easy-to-find remedies organized by essential elements such as materials, system, part, cause, environmental, and phenomenon Grasps fundamental corrosion elements on all major industrial pieces of equipment, no matter the industry Identify failures by appearance with color figures within each case study

Book Synopsis A Solar—Hydrogen Energy System by : E.W. Justi
Download or read book A Solar—Hydrogen Energy System written by E.W. Justi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 335 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book concerns one of the more persistent of the ideas that have been discussed in journals devoted to energy science during the last few years. It deals with the concept that hydrogen should be the medium of energy and the sun should be the source (and, in the interim, perhaps also coal, biomass, or nuclear fuel). The translation has been carried out by Dr. W. Schuh and Mrs. K. Claus in collaboration with me. Certain difficulties confronted us at an early stage, and our resolution of them requires some explanation. First, the chapters that we received from the original German authors were written at varying times during the 1980s. Some years later, for the anticipated publication in the United States, about half of the chapters were completely rewritten. The translation was done in 1984-1986. Second, the original volume is a German book. Most of the examples in it refer to the Federal Republic of Germany, although some extend to Europe in general.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ISES Solar World Congress, held in Denver, Colorado in August 1991 attracted over 1000 participants from nearly 70 countries, making it the largest solar energy event of its kind in the world. As a lasting record of that congress, 630 papers are published here in 4 volumes of proceedings. Volume 1 is dedicated to solar energy, biofuels and renewable resources. Volume 2 contains papers on active solar and solar heat. Passive solar, socio-economic and educational aspects are considered in Volume 3, and finally the plenary sessions, and the Farrington Daniels lecture are published in Volume 4. 1991 Solar World Congress presents the very latest advances in the utilization of alternative energy resources and technology.
