Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The users manual presents a detailed description of the TSC highway noise prediction computer program. The evolution of the TSC program is described to illustrate salient differences between successive versions of the computer code. The version presented in this manual is called the MOD-04 version. The manual relates the analytical basis to the coded statements to indicate how the prediction procedure utlizes input data. The manual describes the features of the MOD-04 version and present guidelines for formulating problems. Detailed description of input data requirements and example problems are presented to illustrate usage of the computer program. The appendicies to the users manual describe the theoretical basis, computer system details, and subprogram descriptions of the MOD-04 version of the TSC highway noise prediction code.
Download or read book Highway Noise written by B. Andrew Kugler and published by Transportation Research Board National Research. This book was released on 1976 with total page 850 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A description of motor vehicle noise sources and the potential for their control is provided. The report presents an overview of the suggested noise prediction methodology, which is a four step process that includes approximating noise impacts using a nomograph procedure to determine noise levels associated with given traffic and site characteristics; refining these predictions by more accurate representation of design parameters and use of a computer program that is able to plot as well as calculate noise impact; introducing appropriate noise-control options and evaluate them, using a noise barrier nomograph solution; lastly, selected options are fully evaluated using the computer program.

Book Synopsis Highway Noise; a Design Guide for Highway Engineers by : Bolt, Beranek, and Newman
Download or read book Highway Noise; a Design Guide for Highway Engineers written by Bolt, Beranek, and Newman and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 840 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Various methods of assessing noise, loudness, and noise annoyance are reviewed and explained; sources, types, and intensities of traffic noise are noted; typical means of abatement and attenuation are described; design criteria for various land uses ranging from low-density to industrial are suggested and compared with the results of previous BBN and British systems for predicting annoyance and complaint; and a design guide for predicting traffic noise, capable of being programmed for batch and on-line computer applications, is presented in form suitable for use as a working tool. A flow diagram describes the interrelationships of elements in the traffic noise prediction methodology, and each element is discussed in detail in the text. The text is presented of a tape recording that takes the listener through a series of traffic situations, with such variables as traffic distance, flow velocity, distance, outdoors and indoors, and presence or absence of absorbers and attenuators.

This book was released on 2002-03-30 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In March 1998, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of Natural Environment, released the FHWA Traffic Noise Model (FHWA TNM) Version 1.0, a state-of-the-art computer program for highway traffic noise prediction and analysis. Since then, the FHWA, with assistance from the Volpe Center Acoustics Facility (Volpe Center) and Foliage Software Systems (FSS), have released updates of TNM (Versions 1.0a, and 1.0b) in March 1999 and August 1999, respectively. In support of the FHWA and the California Department of Transportation, the Volpe Center and FSS released Version 1.1 in September 2000. TNM 2.0 is the latest release of the TNM software. Two companion reports were released with TNM Version 1.0, a Technical Manual that describes the acoustics within TNM and a User's Guide. In addition, prior to TNM release, a data report was published that describes the vehicle noise-emissions data base within TNM. This document is an addendum to the FHWA TNM Version 1.0 User's Guide. It details the enhancements in the program up to and including Version 2.0.
