Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Life requires continuous adjustment in relation to unpleasant and unfavorable circumstances. In everyday situations (such as opening an umbrella in the rain, or wearing a jacket in the cold) we generally don’t resist these required adjustments. However, when dealing with difficult people, facing unhealthy relationships, in family relationships, or in the midst of marriage problems, adjustments become increasingly difficult. Some of our relationships could even be said to be the very definition of conflict! We ask ourselves, how can we possibly adjust in these emotionally-challenging situations? In the book “Adjust Everywhere”, Gnani Purush (embodiment of Self knowledge) Dada Bhagwan offers the ultimate conflict resolution skills in the form of spiritual conflict resolution strategies. His key phrase “Adjust Everywhere” is explained in the context of many common and everyday relationship challenges. Whether seeking relationship tips, marriage advice, or simply to learn how to stay healthy, this book will prove an invaluable resource.

Book excerpt: NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR “In the early morning, when it was still dark, Jesus got up ....” (Mark 1:35 NASB). I believe that there are heavenly gates opened at certain times of the day. In my case, I enter His gates early in the morning, at 5:00 am, when, typically, the rooster crows. It is a blessing to watch the dawning of the day, to smell nature, and to commune with our Creator. To me, it is early in the morning when I can “hear” God’s voice clearer before the busyness of the day starts. And my soul longs for that time daily. This book is a collection of encouraging scriptures divided by subject for each month of the year. Its purpose is for the reader to meet life goals, and to live each day with a purpose. Please be encouraged to journal your progress, personal word from the Lord for your life, events, and the fulfillment of requests and prayers. This devotional is meant to be a resource for your study and reading of God’s Word, and it is not a substitute of the Bible, His love letter for His own. May your communion with the Lord become progressively meaningful as you experience the bountiful Love of the Lord in your life and those you love.

Book excerpt: 'Essential Personality' provides a clear, accessible and systematic introduction to the major theoretical approaches for the understanding of human personality. This introductory book assumes no prior knowledge of this core area in psychology and is written for students studying personality for the first time, whether at `A' level, first year undergraduates on psychology degree programmes or students on other courses (for example, nursing, social work or criminology). Each chapter considers one or more of the major approaches to personality. For each approach, a brief biographical outline of the originating theorist is given. This is followed by clear and straightforward descriptions of the major aspects of each theory together with clear definitions of key concepts, and concludes with an evaluation section that addresses the 'model' of humans underlying the approach, research evidence in support of the theory and questioning the theory. Discussion is also given to personality assessment and therapeutic applications of the theory or approach. The individual chapters provide figures, diagrams and tables to give a clear understanding of theory and research. and at the end of each chapter, a summary and suggestions for further reading is provided. A glossary at the end of the book provides definitions and explanations of key items, concepts etc.

This book was released on 2019-09-18 with total page 27 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Exchange rate policies can have important implications on incentives for export agriculture. However, their effects are often not well understood. We study the issue of foreign exchange controls and pricing in the value chain for Ethiopia’s coffee - its most important export crop. Relying on unique pricing and cost data, we find that coffee exporters are willing to incur losses during exporting by offering high prices for coffee locally in order to access scarce foreign exchange. The losses in export markets are then more than recovered in importing, indicating rents - import parity prices are significantly lower than the prices charged for imported goods, so that profits on imports are much higher than the losses incurred in exporting. We further show that the high coffee wholesale prices are transmitted to farmers, so that they benefit from the rents downstream. These results suggest that a better exchange rate alignment to reduce the overvaluation of the local currency in this case would have a lower impact on export crop producer prices than typically is anticipated.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three decades after the first heart transplant surgery stunned the world, organs including eyes, lungs, livers, kidneys, and hearts are transplanted every day. But despite its increasingly routine nature-or perhaps because of it-transplantation offers enormous ethical challenges. A medical ethicist who has been involved in the organ transplant debate for many years, Robert M. Veatch explores a variety of questions that continue to vex the transplantation community, offering his own solutions in many cases. Ranging from the most fundamental questions to recently emerging issues, Transplantation Ethics is the first complete and systematic account of the ethical and policy controversies surrounding organ transplants. Veatch structures his discussion around three major topics: the definition of death, the procurement of organs, and the allocation of organs. He lobbies for an allocation system-administered by nonphysicians-that considers both efficiency and equity, that takes into consideration the patient's age and previous transplant history, and that operates on a national rather than a regional level. Rich with case studies and written in an accessible style, this comprehensive reference is intended for a broad cross section of people interested in the ethics of transplantation from either the medical or public policy perspective: patients and their relatives, transplantation professionals, other health care professionals and administrators, social workers, members of organ procurement organizations, and government officials involved in the regulation of transplants.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the 1950s sexual instruction was still a considerable problem despite the very great freedom of discussion that was common. The high level of so-called sexual neurosis among women, the problems of sexual compatibility and birth control, and the spread of venereal disease all bore witness to the need for responsible information. Originally published in 1954, Dr Henry Olsen, in this comprehensive survey of the problems of sexual adjustment, draws fully from a very wide and thoroughly grounded experience. Since 1937, he had been closely connected with the instruction in sexual hygiene in Denmark, where the majority of public schools and high schools included it as part of the syllabus. Of the 1,232 public libraries at the time all but three had copies of his Textbook on Sexual Hygiene. Sexual Adjustment in Marriage is admirably clear in style and arrangement. It is divided into subjects of particular importance such as The Sex Organs; Living Together; Disturbances in a Couple’s Sex Life; Sex Life of the Unmarried; Fertilization, Pregnancy and Childbirth; Sexual Abnormalities; Diseases of Sex Life. Each of the sixteen main sections is divided into chapters, within which every topic discussed is numbered. Reference to any part of the book is thus extremely simple. Knowledge alone cannot prevent all disasters in the difficult field of sexual life. But this book aimed to give all that one needed for a basic understanding of the elementary laws – from the genes and chromosomes of one’s own make-up to the sex education of one’s children. Today it can be read and enjoyed in its historical context. This book is a re-issue originally published in 1954. The language used and views portrayed are a reflection of its era and no offence is meant by the Publishers to any reader by this re-publication.
