Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hope has long been a topic of interest for psychologists, philosophers, educators, and physicians. In the past few decades, researchers from various disciplines and from around the world have studied how hope relates to superior academic performance, improved outcomes in the workplace, and improved psychological and physical health in individuals of all ages. Edited by Matthew W. Gallagher and the late Shane J. Lopez, The Oxford Handbook of Hope provides readers with a thorough and comprehensive update on the past 25 years of hope research while simultaneously providing an outline of what leading hope researchers believe the future of this line of research to be. In this extraordinary volume, Gallagher, Lopez, and their expert team of contributors discuss such topics as how best to define hope, how hope is distinguished from related philosophical and psychological constructs, what the current best practices are for measuring and quantifying hope, interventions and strategies for promoting hope across a variety of settings, the impact it has on physical and mental health, and the ways in which hope promotes positive functioning. Throughout its pages, these experts review what is currently known about hope and identify the topics and questions that will help guide the next decade of research ahead.

In the second edition of this groundbreaking handbook, the editors draw together the latest work on the field, identifying major issues and providing a wealth of descriptive knowledge from renowned contributors. Major topics include: the ways that positive emotions, traits, and institutions promote school achievement and healthy social and emotional development; how specific positive-psychological constructs relate to students and schools and support the delivery of school-based services; and the application of positive psychology to educational policy making. With thirteen new chapters, this edition provides a long-needed centerpiece around which the field can continue to grow, incorporating a new focus on international applications of the field.

Book excerpt: This publication examines the issue of social cohesion as it relates to young people living in urban environments. There are two major reports on violence and social exclusion: the first looks at these issues in a European context, taking account of the extent and causes of urban deprivation, and how this links to youth violence. The second report concentrates on the UK, and on the social transition from a welfare state to a stakeholder/welfare society. Both reports look at issues of crime prevention, youth employment, projects for training initiatives, and urban design processes. Both reports find examples of good practice, and recommends methods to regenerate social cohesion.

Book excerpt: A definitive reference on intra- and inter-group processes across a range of age and cultural contexts Children from infancy develop attachments to significant others in their immediate social environment, and over time become aware of other groups (e.g. gender, ethnicity, age, classroom, sports) that they do or do not belong to and why. Recent research shows that children’s attitudes, beliefs and behaviours are significantly influenced by these memberships and that the influence increases through childhood. This Handbook delivers the first comprehensive, international reference on this critical topic.
Book Synopsis Quand l'enfant prend ses marques... by : Sylvie Gassmann
Download or read book Quand l'enfant prend ses marques... written by Sylvie Gassmann and published by Éditions EMS. This book was released on 2011-03-17 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
