Book Synopsis The Copyright/Design Interface by : Estelle Derclaye
Download or read book The Copyright/Design Interface written by Estelle Derclaye and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2018-03-08 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Protecting designs is complex and diverse; it involves deciding whether to protect them by design law, copyright law, or by both laws. A single protection may be under- or overprotective but two or more can be overprotective if there are no rules regulating the overlap. Legal systems in Europe and abroad have struggled to find the most adequate solution to this problem. This book traces the history of the design/copyright interface of fifteen countries, selected for their diversity in the way they dealt with the interface. It examines how these countries have coped with the problems engendered by the interface, the rules they applied to it over time and the reasons for legislative changes. This analysis reveals the most appropriate rules to regulate the interface at EU and global level and will appeal to academics, practising lawyers, judges, students and policymakers all over the world.
Book Synopsis Il messaggio estetico del prodotto by : Fabrizio Sanna
Download or read book Il messaggio estetico del prodotto written by Fabrizio Sanna and published by G Giappichelli Editore. This book was released on 2018-09-24 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Synopsis European Design Protection by : Levin
Download or read book European Design Protection written by Levin and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 1996-01-01 with total page 448 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Design occupies an important place in the cultural world of today. Against this, there have been manifold techno-legal approaches on the part of the major European legislatures to the issue of the protection of works of design. The Community proposals for a Directive and Regulation in this area are a response to the need, widely felt in various sectors of the design world, for a homogeneous and systematic protection of design works. These initiatives should however be considered in the light of the many interests at stake and the various solutions put forward in the wake of the Community's past experience in the fields of patents and trademarks.

This book was released on 2023-12-22 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book traces the development of the fashion industry, providing insight into the business and, in particular, its interrelations with copyright law. The book explores how the greatest haute couture fashion designers also had a sense for business and that their attention to copyright was one of the weapons in protecting their market position. The work also confronts the peculiarities of the fashion industry as a means of demonstrating the importance of intellectual property protection while pointing out the many challenges involved. A central aim is to provide a copyrightability test for fashion goods based on detailed analysis of the legal regulations in the USA and EU countries, specifically Italy, France, the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. The book will be of interest to researchers and academics working in the areas of Intellectual Property Law, Copyright Law, Business Law, Fashion Law and Design.

Book Synopsis Why Architects Still Draw by : Paolo Belardi
Download or read book Why Architects Still Draw written by Paolo Belardi and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 2014-02-14 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An architect's defense of drawing as a way of thinking, even in an age of electronic media. Why would an architect reach for a pencil when drawing software and AutoCAD are a click away? Use a ruler when 3D-scanners and GPS devices are close at hand? In Why Architects Still Draw, Paolo Belardi offers an elegant and ardent defense of drawing by hand as a way of thinking. Belardi is no Luddite; he doesn't urge architects to give up digital devices for watercolors and a measuring tape. Rather, he makes a case for drawing as the interface between the idea and the work itself. A drawing, Belardi argues, holds within it the entire final design. It is the paradox of the acorn: a project emerges from a drawing—even from a sketch, rough and inchoate—just as an oak tree emerges from an acorn. Citing examples not just from architecture but also from literature, chemistry, music, archaeology, and art, Belardi shows how drawing is not a passive recording but a moment of invention pregnant with creative possibilities. Moving from the sketch to the survey, Belardi explores the meaning of measurement in a digital era. A survey of a site should go beyond width, height, and depth; it must include two more dimensions: history and culture. Belardi shows the sterility of techniques that value metric exactitude over cultural appropriateness, arguing for an “informed drawing” that takes into consideration more than meters or feet, stone or steel. Even in the age of electronic media, Belardi writes, drawing can maintain its role as a cornerstone of architecture.
