Très ancienne, car les premières traces d'informations économiques et financières apparaissent au XVe siècle sous forme de lettres manuscrites que s'échangent les marchands. L'approche est à la fois historique et stratégique, s'intéressant en premier lieu à la génèse de la presse économique et financière, puis à son organisation et à son mode de fonctionnement. Elle met en lumière des différences évidentes entre la France et l'Allemagne, objets privilégiés de cette étude comparative. La comparaison plus formelle se fonde essentiellement sur l'analyse de six magazines : Die Wirtschaftswoche, Capital et Guter Rat ! en Allemagne, Le Nouvel Observateur, Mieux Vivre Votre Argent et Capital en France. La seconde partie compare notamment les rubriques proposées et la manière de les présenter, laissant apparaître, sous des titres souvent similaires, une grande diversité. L'analyse détaillée de sujets traités conjointement dans les magazines retenus permet d'affiner cette comparaison en observant comment l'information économique et financière est traitée par les journalistes des deux pays
