Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are many books written detailing the job search process covering everything from skills assessments and resume writing to interviewing and salary negotiations, but there is nothing available for the job seeker looking for something to sustain themselves mentally and spiritually. Being unable to sustain themselves mentally and spiritually many job seekers soon grow weary of the daunting job search journey and simply quit looking before they reach their goal. The "Job Seeker's Faithful Guide" targets everybody involved in a career transition regardless whether they are unemployed, underemployed, seeking a new opportunity or launching a new business on their own. In fact, anyone in career transition is a job seeker. One of the most difficult tasks a job seeker faces is how to sustain the mental and spiritual strength to make it through the complete journey. When a job seeker's mental and spiritual strength wanes the chances for success in the job search are drastically reduced, and finally the job seeker simply abandons the job search. The "Job Seeker's Faithful Guide" provides a resource for anybody in career transition regardless of where they are along their job search journey. The "Job Seeker's Faithful Guide" is faith-based, but it is meant to be non-denominational. In fact, the scripture references provide inspirational meaning for anybody of any faith as they work their way through the job search process and journey. The "Job Seeker's Faithful Guide" is organized as a series of sixty-six (66) "Reflections" (Chapters). The chapters are arranged in the order the individual "Reflections" were originally presented to members of the "In Between Jobs Support Group," which an outreach ministry of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church located in Tampa, FL. The individual "Reflections" can be read and studied in any order without detracting from the value of the full content of the book. The book includes three (3) indexes at the end of the book as follows: Topic Index - Lists job search related topics included in the book; and, Scripture Index - Lists all scripture references included in the book; Secular Reference Index - Lists all secular references mentioned in the book. Each "Reflection" in the book includes a scripture reference followed by an updated application of the scriptural message using secular references, and finally a specific connection between the scripture and secular references as applied to the job search journey. Finally, "Reflections" include a set of self-discovery questions and a prayer.

Edited by Ute-Christine Klehe and Edwin A.J. van Hooft, The Oxford Handbook of Job Loss and Job Search provides readers with one of the first comprehensive overviews of the latest research and empirical knowledge in the areas of job loss and job search. Multidisciplinary in nature, Klehe, van Hooft, and their contributing authors offer fascinating insight into the diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives from which job loss and job search have been studied, such as psychology, sociology, labor studies, and economics. Discussing the antecedents and consequences of job loss, as well as outside circumstances that may necessitate a more rigorous job hunt, this Handbook presents in-depth and up-to-date knowledge on the methods and processes of this important time in one's life. Further, it examines the unique circumstances faced by different populations during their job search, such as those working job-to-job, the unemployed, mature job seekers, international job seekers, and temporary employed workers. Job loss and unemployment are among the worst stressors individuals can encounter during their lifetimes. As a result, this Handbook concludes with a discussion of the various types of interventions developed to aid the unemployed. Further, it offers readers important insights and identifies best practices for both scholars and practitioners working in the areas of job loss, unemployment, career transitions, outplacement, and job search.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first complete guide to implementing the Community Reinforcement Approach (CRA), an empirically based, highly effective cognitive-behavioral program for treating alcohol problems. CRA acknowledges the powerful role of environmental contingencies in encouraging or discouraging drinking, and attempts to rearrange these contingencies so that a non-drinking lifestyle is more rewarding than a drinking one. Unique in its breadth, the approach utilizes social, recreational, familial, and vocational strategies to aid clients in the recovery process. This authoritative manual is a hands-on guide to applying these therapeutic procedures. The authors present a step-by-step guide to each component of the treatment plan, many of which have been shown to be effective forms of treatment in themselves. Topics include behavioral skills training, social and recreational counseling, marital therapy, motivational enhancement, job counseling, and relapse prevention. Each chapter provides detailed instructions for conducting a procedure, describes what difficulties to expect, and presents strategies for overcoming them. Sample dialogues between clients and therapists, annotated by the authors, further illuminate the treatment process. The book concludes with a chapter that both addresses the common mistakes made when implementing CRA, and emphasizes the flexibility and benefits of this total treatment plan. This book is an invaluable resource for a wide range of practitioners including psychologists, psychiatrists, substance abuse counselors, and social workers.

As a temp, you can increase job skills and work experience, expand business networks, strengthen your resume, and avoid gaps in employment, all while being paid. Quite often, temp work can be a "job audition" because it puts temps in front of hiring managers and decision makers for days, weeks, or even months at a time while on job assignments. The Temp Factor for Job Seekers: The Job Seeker's Guide to Temporary Employment presents how this job search strategy may get you back to work faster. Becoming a temp guarantees what a resume cannot: face time inside the doors of potential employers. With over 20 years of experience working with staffing service firms and temps, Cathy A. Reilly teaches you about the advantages, challenges, pay, and benefits of being a temp. She explains what clients and staffing services look for in effective temps, how to find and apply to a high quality staffing service, and how to distinguish yourself from the crowd. Corporate culture, job performance issues, temp assessment tools, interview questions (and answers that have impact), real-world insights and "must knows" are included in this comprehensive manual.

Book excerpt: No matter which way you look at it, whether you own your own practice, become a part of a large physician group, or become an employee of a hospital, you will be signing an employment contract of some sort. Revised and updated, The Physician Employment Contract Handbook, Second Edition: A Guide to Structuring Equitable Arrangements provides sample physician employment contracts and explains how each contract works. The new edition includes increased information on the latest managed care entities and a review of basic concepts in fraud and abuse, corporate practice of medicine, and antitrust concerns. The author discusses the various legal and compliance issues related to physician employment, such as anti-self referral and anti-kickback issues, and examines how to resolve disputes through arbitration or mediation. The author also outlines the pros and cons of various partnership arrangements. After you have finished this book, you will be able to ask meaningful questions of legal and accounting counsel, do a preliminary review and analysis of the agreement offered, and even compare a prospective employer’s contract to other standard agreements without endangering confidentiality agreements. You will be able to design standard text, saving time and money on legal fees by having counsel review and add the final touches to contract drafts instead of starting from scratch. With proper planning and a clear understanding of both short- and long-term objectives, you can move into the future and take advantage of opportunities in the current healthcare revolution.
