Natürlich kann die Existenz Gottes nicht in der Weise eines mathematischen Lehrsatzes ‚bewiesen’ werden. Die traditionellen sogenannten ‚Gottesbeweise’ wollen keine ‚Beweise’ sein, sondern vielmehr rationale Argumente, welche die Annahme der Existenz Gottes als vernünftig erscheinen lassen. Somit verdienen diese Argumente sowie die Einwände ernst genommen und im Detail diskutiert zu werden. Seit den Anfängen, hauptsächlich im griechischen Denken bis heute, haben sich die Denker des Ostens und des Westens mit den Beweisen für und gegen die Existenz Gottes beschäftigt. Traditionell werden drei Arten von Gottesbeweisen unterschieden: Die ontologischen, die teleologischen und die kosmologischen Gottesbeweise. In der folgenden Arbeit werden die kosmologischen Beweise im Detail betrachtet. . Die Frage nach dem Existenzbeweis eines monotheistischen Gottes ist primär innerphilosophisch situiert. Notwendige Voraussetzung dafür ist der Gedanke einer letzten Begründung. Der kosmologische Gottesbeweis sucht nach einem letzten Grund allen Seins bzw. der Existenz der Welt. Dies impliziert auch die naturwissenschaftliche Frage nach einer eventuellen Erstursache bzw. einem eventuellen zeitlichen Beginn des Universums. Die kosmologischen Argumente gehen von der konkreten Erfahrungstatsache aus, dass es das Universum gibt. Es finden sich kosmologische Argumente verschiedenster Formen in den Schriften griechischer, arabischer, jüdischer und christlicher Philosophen und Theologen. Klassische Beispiele einer derartigen Argumentation für die Existenz Gottes finden sich in den Texten von Thomas von Aquin und Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Zunächst werden die historischen Hintergründe der kosmologischen Gottesbeweise erläutert. Danach erfolgt die genaue Vorstellung der kosmologischen Argumente von Thomas von Aquin, Gottfried Willhelm Leibniz und Richard Swinburne. Im Anschluss daran werden die Einwände gegen die kosmologischen Argumente aufgeführt. Abschließend erfolgt ein Fazit und ein Ausblick.

Das Seien von Gott ist wohl der zentrale Gedanke des Beweises, wobei z.B. der Ursprung des Universums, der für andere Gottesbeweise von Bedeutung ist, für Anselm überhaupt keine Rolle spielt. Auch wenn man bei der aristotelischen Vorstellung vom "unbewegten Beweger" vielleicht von einem Gottesbeweis sprechen kann, so gilt das anselmianische Argument als erster historischer Beweis. Er wurde seit seiner Erscheinung im 11. Jahrhundert sehr oft diskutiert, erörtert, aber auch widerlegt. Angefangen hat die Diskussion mit der sogenannten Anselm-Gaunilo Kontroverse: Der Mönch Gaunilo von Marmoutiers versuchte kurz nach der Veröffentlichung des Beweises, diesen zu widerlegen, woraufhin Anselm prompt Stellung nahm und seinerseits versuchte, den Einwand Gaunilos zu widerlegen. Die historische Debatte ging dann weiter über Thomas von Aquin, Rene Descartes, Immanuel Kant, G.W.F. Hegel bis ins 20. Jahrhundert, wo der Beweis von Alvin Platinga, J. L. Solche und ähnliche Fragen sind dabei nur einzelne Beispiele des immensen Fragenkatalogs, der sich daraus entwickeln lässt. Den Anfang bildet dabei schon das Problem, was wir unter dem Begriff des Beweises verstehen, denn einen solchen nach der Art der Physik und anderer Naturwissenschaften lässt sich nicht erbringen, da wir ein geistiges, transzendentes Wesen wie Gott mit ihren Methoden nicht fassen können. Die Antwort hierauf befindet sich in der Logik und ihren argumentativen Methoden, denn sie bietet uns die Möglichkeit die Existenz eines Metaphysischen Gegenstandes zu demonstrieren. Wie bei dieser Argumentation vorgegangen wird, führt wiederum zur Unterscheidung der verschiedenen Gottesbeweise, wobei der ontologische, kosmologische und teleologische die am häufigsten vertretenden Arten sind. Diese wurden im Laufe der Zeit von Größen der Philosophie und Theologie wie Aristoteles, Thomas von Aquin, Leibnitz, etc. aufgestellt, kritisiert, umformuliert und weiterentwickelt. Doch seit den Entwicklungen, die in der Neuzeit und der Aufklärung ihren Anfang hatten, zeichnete sich ein enormer Fortschritt innerhalb der Naturwissenschaften ab, sodass diese mit ihrer empirischen Forschung zum Primaten der Erkenntnisgewinnung wurden und damit metaphysische Konzepte wie den Gottesbeweis verdrängten. Denn für einen Wissenschaftsgläubigen besitzt die Philosophie und Theologie keinerlei allgemeingültigen Ergebnisse. Deswegen beschäftigt sich diese Arbeit mit der Frage, in wie weit es heutzutage möglich ist einen Gottesbeweis aufzustellen und diesen dabei in den Kontext mit den Erkenntnissen der modernen Naturwissenschaften zu bringen? Der kosmologische Gottesbeweis wird dabei als Beispiel für diesen Versuch herangezogen, da er zum einen einer der wichtigsten Varianten des Gottesbeweises ist und er zum anderen auch heute noch häufig aufgegriffen und diskutiert wird.

Auch er versuchte, mit philosophischen Argumenten die Existenz Gottes zu beweisen. Er optierte vor allem für die Argumente, die wir kosmologisch nennen können. Das heißt, ausgehend von den Erfahrungen beziehungsweise von den Wirkungen zur Ursache (a posteriori). Mit der Frage, ob Gott existiere (utrum deus sit) beschäftigte sich Thomas gleich am Anfang seiner "somma Theologiae." Dabei schlug er fünf Wege vor, durch die die Existenz Gottes bewiesen werden können. Dieser Wege widmet sich die vorliegende Arbeit. Book excerpt: In Systematicity, Paul Hoyningen-Huene answers the question "What is science?" by proposing that scientific knowledge is primarily distinguished from other forms of knowledge, especially everyday knowledge, by being more systematic. "Science" is here understood in the broadest possible sense, encompassing not only the natural sciences but also mathematics, the social sciences, and the humanities. The author develops his thesis in nine dimensions in which it is claimed that science is more systematic than other forms of knowledge: regarding descriptions, explanations, predictions, the defense of knowledge claims, critical discourse, epistemic connectedness, an ideal of completeness, knowledge generation, and the representation of knowledge. He compares his view with positions on the question held by philosophers from Aristotle to Nicholas Rescher. The book concludes with an exploration of some consequences of Hoyningen-Huene's view concerning the genesis and dynamics of science, the relationship of science and common sense, normative implications of the thesis, and the demarcation criterion between science and pseudo-science.
