Download or read book Radiation Dosimetry Instrumentation and Methods written by Gad Shani and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-12-28 with total page 506 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiation dosimetry has made great progress in the last decade, mainly because radiation therapy is much more widely used. Since the first edition, many new developments have been made in the basic methods for dosimetry, i.e. ionization chambers, TLD, chemical dosimeters, and photographic films. Radiation Dosimetry: Instrumentation and Methods, Second Edition brings to the reader these latest developments. Written at a high level for medical physicists, engineers, and advanced dosimetrists, it concentrates only on evolvement during the last decade, relying on the first edition to provide the basics.

Book Synopsis The Dosimetry of Ionizing Radiation by : Kenneth R. Kase
Download or read book The Dosimetry of Ionizing Radiation written by Kenneth R. Kase and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Dosimetry of Ionizing Radiation, Volume II, attempts to fill the need for updated reference material on the field of radiation dosimetry. This book presents some broad topics in dosimetry and a variety of radiation dosimetry instrumentation and its application. The book opens with a chapter that extends and applies the concepts of microdosimetry to biological systems. This is followed by separate chapters on the state-of-the-art equipment and techniques used to determine neutron spectra; studies to determine recombination effects in ionization chambers exposed to high-intensity pulsed radiation; advances in water and polystyrene calorimetry; and beta-photon dosimetry for radiation protection. This book is clearly a valuable collection of work by outstanding authorities in their individual fields. It has an international flavor, with authors from England, Canada, and the United States. The quality of the work is equal to the best of what has been published in the past.

Book Synopsis Neutron Dosimetry Using a Tissue-Equivalent Ionization Chamber by :
Download or read book Neutron Dosimetry Using a Tissue-Equivalent Ionization Chamber written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A system for the measurement of neutron tissue does or kerma has been assembled and tested. The dosimeter is a tissue-equivalent ionization chamber, of modified commercial design. It is enclosed in an airtight aluminum shell, which can be filled with tissue-equivalent gas and sealed, thereby eliminating the need for continuous gas flow. Ionization current can be measured using either a commercial electrometer or a DREO-constructed electrometer. The latter instrument enables the readout device to be located far from the dosimeter without an increase in the leakage current. Calibration theory and procedures are described, and correction factors discussed. (Author).

Download or read book Neutron and Gamma-ray Dosimetry in an Animal Exposure Volume at a Pulsed Triga Reactor written by R. E. Simpson and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The distribution of steady-state and pulsed, neutron and gamma-ray dose was measured in an animal exposure volume at the TRIGA reactor. The usable volume was restricted to the lower 20 in. of an aluminum irradiation tube having an ID of 9-1/2 in. The tube was inserted into the pool adjacent to the reactor void tank, 134 cm from the core. Dosimetry films were used to determine gamma-ray dose while Sievert ionization chambers were used to determine neutron dose. Gold foils were used to measure the thermal neutron flux. Neutron doses were referenced to sulphur foil monitors. The neutron spectrum was examined with a system of threshold detectors and compared with spectra from Godiva II and the biological port of the Argonne CP-5 reactor. The vertical variation of dose along a lucite board was measured at the midplane of a lucite canister lowered into the tube. The dose in the lower 16 in. varied less than 5%. The ratio of neutron to gamma dose was approximately 6 to 1. A tissue equivalent dog phantom, 20 in. long and 7-1/2 in. in diameter, was designed to determine the absorbed dose in depth. The fast neutron dose was about equal to the gamma-ray dose at the midline of the phantom. The neutron plus gamma-ray dose at the midline was 44% of the dose at the front surface of the phantom. Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Ionizing Radiation Dosimetry by : Pedro Andreo
Download or read book Fundamentals of Ionizing Radiation Dosimetry written by Pedro Andreo and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-08-28 with total page 1000 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new, comprehensively updated edition of the acclaimed textbook by F.H. Attix (Introduction to Radiological Physics and Radiation Dosimetry) taking into account the substantial developments in dosimetry since its first edition. This monograph covers charged and uncharged particle interactions at a level consistent with the advanced use of the Monte Carlo method in dosimetry; radiation quantities, macroscopic behaviour and the characterization of radiation fields and beams are covered in detail. A number of chapters include addenda presenting derivations and discussions that offer new insight into established dosimetric principles and concepts. The theoretical aspects of dosimetry are given in the comprehensive chapter on cavity theory, followed by the description of primary measurement standards, ionization chambers, chemical dosimeters and solid state detectors. Chapters on applications include reference dosimetry for standard and small fields in radiotherapy, diagnostic radiology and interventional procedures, dosimetry of unsealed and sealed radionuclide sources, and neutron beam dosimetry. The topics are presented in a logical, easy-to-follow sequence and the text is supplemented by numerous illustrative diagrams, tables and appendices. For senior undergraduate- or graduate-level students and professionals.
