Elle recense neuf études de groupe, dont un essai contrôlé randomisé, deux modèles combinés de comparaison entre et intra-participant, quatre modèles de comparaison intra-participant, de haute qualité méthodologique, et deux essais cliniques préliminaires. Les interventions ont comparé différentes conditions de traitement et mis en évidence une amélioration significative des résultats d'apprentissage de nouveaux mots lorsque les cibles sont répétées, présentées sous différentes formes ou associées à des gestes iconiques. Ces facteurs peuvent être qualifiés d'ingrédients actifs de l'intervention. Une étude a également montré l'efficacité d'un entrainement explicite des stratégies d'apprentissage de nouveaux mots, visant une certaine autonomie de l'enfant face à ses faiblesses lexico-sémantiques. Bien que l'intensité d'une intervention soit un facteur prédicteur de la réponse au traitement, aucune des études n'a noté d'impact du nombre ou de la durée des séances sur l'efficacité de l'intervention. La combinaison de la dose et la fréquence de la dose de l'entrainement peut donc être adaptée par le clinicien selon le profil du patient et les problématiques pratiques d'organisation de la prise en soin. Les compétences lexico-sémantiques sont efficacement entrainées en contexte de lecture interactive ou numérique d'histoire et d'activités ludiques comme des chasses au trésor. Même si cette revue systématique de la littérature présente des limites méthodologiques, un manque d'études robustes mettant en œuvre des interventions lexicales ou sémantiques auprès d'enfants d'âge préscolaire dans le cadre d'un trouble développemental du langage est constaté. Un élargissement des critères d'inclusion de la revue pourrait être envisagé pour obtenir plus de données sur les interventions lexico-sémantiques. Néanmoins, la mise en place et l'évaluation de protocoles d'enrichissement des compétences lexicales et sémantiques intégrant les ingrédients actifs sont recommandées.

Ce mémoire, qui s'inscrit dans une approche socio-interactionniste, a pour objectif de rendre compte de la place accordée aux items mis en mots par des verbes dans les épreuves lexico-sémantiques proposées par les tests de langage à destination des enfants de 4 à 8 ans et de questionner leur pertinence. Nous proposons une comparaison des verbes évalués dans de telles épreuves avec ceux produits en situation de jeu symbolique par des enfants TV et TDL. Nos résultats montrent que les verbes sont effectivement peu représentés dans les épreuves lexico-sémantiques et que la plupart des items ne sont pas représentatifs des verbes produits en usage, en termes de fréquence, de variation langagière ou encore de caractéristiques morphosyntaxiques et sémantiques. Les items sélectionnés ne permettent d'apprécier qu'une partie des compétences lexicales. Cette recherche doit constituer pour les orthophonistes une piste de réflexion quant aux outils qu'ils sont amenés à utiliser dans leur pratique. Elle demande à être poursuivie, avec la même méthode, auprès d'enfants présentant d'autres pathologies du langage oral et en explorant d'autres situations naturelles.

Dans un protocole d'entraînement hebdomadaire réparti sur 4 semaines, nous avons évalué l'ajout d'un signe de la LSF sur l'apprentissage de 20 nouvelles unités lexicales, correspondant chacune à un nom de la langue française, 10 étant entraînées avecsigne et 10 sans signe. Ce protocole visait à reproduire des conditions d'intervention orthophonique, tant dans le format de l'interaction que dans les activités proposées et l'organisation temporelle. Chez les enfants au développement langagier typique de notre échantillon, nos résultats indiquent que le geste favorise l'acquisition de mots, de manière nuancée en lexique passif et de manière plus marquée en lexique actif. Le recours au geste semble également faciliter l'accès lexical. Chez l'enfant présentant un trouble du langage, en revanche, nos résultats ne mettent en évidence aucun effet du geste. Néanmoins des limites méthodologiques sont discutées et laissent entrevoir un effet prometteur du geste dans la pratique orthophonique.

De même très peu d'études analysent l'impact d'un l'accompagnement parental sur les troubles de la pragmatique dans cette pathologie. Nous avons bilanté trois enfants, entre 10 et 12 ans, avec un trouble développemental du langage et un trouble de la pragmatique et un enfant témoin présentant les mêmes pathologies. Leurs parents ont été conviés à former un groupe se réunissant une fois par mois pour aborder un domaine de la pragmatique. Les enfants ont a nouveau été testé sept mois plus tard et nous avons comparé les résultats de l'enfant témoin à ceux dont les parents ont reçu des clés sur la pragmatique afin d'observer l'évolution de celle-ci. Les enfants du groupe montrent une augmentation dans tous les domaines de la pragmatique abordés lors des séances. L'enfant témoin présente une amélioration moindre dans certains domaines relevant le fait que la pragmatique progresse d'elle-même sur une année. Nous pouvons donc en conclure que le groupe a eu un effet positif sur la pragmatique des enfants. Cependant, l'échantillon et la durée de prise en charge ne sont pas suffisant, ne permettant pas une généralisation de nos observations. Il serait intéressant de poursuivre cette étude sur une population plus large, des âges divers et sur une période plus longue afin d'analyser les effets à long terme sur le quotidien des enfants et des parents.

Although some disorders are fairly easily recognizable (e.g., mental retardation) or very specific to single components of performance and quite rare (e.g., developmental dyscalculia), schools must consider much larger populations of children with learning difficulties who cannot always be readily classified. These children present high-level learning difficulties that affect their performance on a variety of school tasks, but the underlying problem is often their difficulty in understanding written text. In many instances, despite good intellectual abilities and a superficial ability to cope with written texts and to use language appropriately, some children do not seem to grasp the most important elements, or cannot find the pieces of information they are looking for. Sometimes these difficulties are not immediately detected by the teacher in the early school years. They may be hidden because the most obvious early indicators of reading progress in the teacher's eyes do not involve comprehension of written texts or because the first texts a child encounters are quite simple and reflect only the difficulty level of the oral messages (sentences, short stories, etc.) with which the child is already familiar. However, as years go by and texts get more complex, comprehension difficulties will become increasingly apparent and increasingly detrimental to effective school learning. In turn, studying, assimilating new information, and many other situations requiring text comprehension -- from problem solving to reasoning with linguistic contents -- could be affected. Problems with decoding, dyslexia, and language disorders have attracted more interest from researchers than have specific comprehension problems and have occupied more room in specialized journals. Normal reading comprehension has also been a favorite with researchers. However, scarce interest has been paid to subjects who have comprehension difficulties. This book is an attempt to remedy this situation. In so doing, this volume answers the following questions: * Does a reading comprehension problem exist in schools? * How important and widespread is the problem? * Is the problem specific? * How can a reading comprehension difficulty be defined and identified? * Does the "syndrome" have a single pattern or can different subtypes be identified? * What are the main characteristics associated with a reading comprehension difficulty? * When can other well-identified problems add to our understanding of reading comprehension difficulties? * Which educational strategies are effective in preventing and treating reading comprehension difficulties? * What supplementary information can we get from an international perspective?
