Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whether it be over politics, religion, or types of flooring in their houses, the younger generations seem to always end up falling short of the older generation's standards. Perhaps deservedly so, the younger generations are keenly aware of the criticisms they receive from their elders, especially when it comes to the Church and Christianity. Join Dustin as he navigates through the religious and cultural foundations in which the younger generations were reared, and search for clues as to why the younger generations always seem to get stuck with the brunt of the blame for the current state of the Modern Church. Who is truly at fault? Did these younger generations get dealt a bad hand? Or are they just selfishly abusing and carelessly handling what was given to them? Insincere, Irrelevant, Invalid seeks to shed light on what has happened to these younger generations and help readers understand exactly why there is such a rapidly growing schism between the Modern Church and the younger generations, while properly defining what Church is, who it is for, man's role, and why we Worship.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When is it morally permissible to engage in self-defense or the defense of others? Jonathan Quong defends a variety of novel ideas in this book about the morality of defensive force, providing an original philosophical account of the central moral principles that should regulate its use. We cannot understand the morality of defensive force, he reasons, until we ask and answer deeper questions about how the use of defensive force fits with a more general account of justice and moral rights. In developing this stance, Quong presents new views on liability, proportionality, and necessity. He argues that self-defense can sometimes be justified on the basis of an agent-relative prerogative to give greater weight to one's own life and interests, contrary to the dominant view in the literature. Additionally Quong develops a novel conception of individual rights against harm. Unlike some, who believe that our rights against harm are fact-relative, he argues that our rights against being harmed by others must, in certain respects, be sensitive to the evidence that others can reasonably be expected to possess. The book concludes with Quong's extended defense of the means principle, a principle that prohibits harmfully using other persons' bodies or other rightful property unless those persons are duty bound to permit this use or have otherwise waived their claims against such use.

Book excerpt: Book Description: Why are millions disgusted with our political parties? Did the huge explosion in the federal building in Oklahoma City make any sense? We wait nervously for another school shooting. What's next? America is changing so fast that laws and culture are almost meaningless. Escape from Time is the story of how we are divorcing the past. We are rid of the worst and the best of our inherited culture. We are what no other country has ever been. Culture--laws, religion, the "story of America"--belong to the immigrants who came looking for a future. Those immigrants are history. They lived for the future. We live for "right now." Past and future are not our psychological radar. We live by impulse. If it feelsright, it isright. We don't understand our culture, certainly not our laws and institutions. These relics manufacture "crimes" from what we call everday life, and we can't build enough prisons to keep up. Escape from Time is the story of a new way of life in America--life in the NOW! Read it and understand who we are; escape the fiction that we are who we were. Author bio: Frederick Kile—engineer, theologian, corporate futurist. As parish pastor, he encountered wealthy and poor, “old-timers” and social rebels. Engineering experience includes Project Apollo and designing global socioeconomic computer models. Currently adult education director in a large Lutheran church, Fred also chairs a multinational committee of engineers studying international stability.
