It also explores the future roadmap of internationalization and the risks involved in the process, in order to provide reference resource for Chinese banks. Based on the CBII (Chinese Bank Internationalization Index), which was first released in 2015, the book introduces the Banks’ Internationalization Index (“BII”) and expands the BII by examining two groups of data, including the number of overseas branches, overseas assets and revenue. In addition it analyzes representative Chinese banks’ internationalization, using 16 of the Global Systemically Important Banks (G-SIBs) as benchmarks.

Book excerpt: Think! In Mark 12:24 Jesus said, "Are you not therefore deceived, not being acquainted with the Scriptures nor yet the Power of God?" Be knowing, the Scriptures are the Word - the complete expression of God's Thought and contain the Power of God's Thought. The Bible on the other hand is but the letter, men's letters, men's interpretations of the Scriptures and contain not the Power of God's Word but contain only the force of men's reasoning, men's intellect. One could say that the Bible is but the survey for the Scripture Digs. The Great Journey in Pursuit of Jesus' Way, Truth & Life is my personal daily journal during the years of 1998 and 1999. Everything I write is hand written so great care was taken in transcribing my written journal into this format. By great care I mean transcribing word for word along with their misspellings and errors so that it would allow you the reader to travel with me every day. In this journal I share what I took notice of and took notes on during my journey. Some things I perceived during this journey gave me new questions to question as well as answers to questions that I have repeatedly asked myself over many years. Travel with me through my 1998-1999 journal as we embark on this Great Journey in pursuit of Jesus' Way, Truth and Life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a career spanning almost five decades, Baruch Levine’s numerous publications reflect his wide-ranging interests and areas of expertise in the study of the Hebrew Bible, the ancient Near East, and early Judaism. In Pursuit of Meaning brings together 51 of the most important articles that Professor Levine produced during his years at Brandeis University (1962–69) and New York University (1969–2000, emeritus 2000–). The first volume, containing 27 articles, focuses on the study of religion in the biblical and ancient Near Eastern worlds from a number of perspectives, ranging from close philological analysis of written sources to anthropological studies of ancient cultic practices. In the 24 articles of the second volume, Levine engages broader aspects of ancient Near Eastern society, from legal institutions of various types to larger societal forms of organization. This volume also contains some of his more incisive lexicographical and philological contributions to the study of the Hebrew and Aramaic languages. The flavor of Prof. Levine’s work is captured in this paragraph from his introduction to these two volumes: “Looking back, and reviewing my writings, I realize what it is that I have been seeking all along. I have been in pursuit of meaning, employing scholarly methods, primarily philology and semantics, to the exegesis of ancient Near Eastern texts, preserved in several languages, principally the Hebrew Bible. I regard language as the key to meaning. This conclusion would appear to be self-evident, and yet, philology is often sidelined in favor of engaging larger frameworks. Most of all, I challenge the notion that we already know the meaning of the words and clauses central to the texts under investigation, and may proceed directly to other considerations without first re-examining the smaller units. Again and again, that policy has resulted in flawed interpretation, and in missed opportunities for learning. This is not to say that scholars should stop at the smaller units, and, indeed, the tendency to do so has been largely responsible for the reaction against Semitic philology so noticeable since the latter part of the 20th century. It is our challenge to move outward from focal points to the circumference, from text to context, from content to structure.”

Book excerpt: Setting out to explore the intersections of economy and geography, this book brings together contributions from the world's top economic geographers. Over forty contributors draw upon contemporary theory and experience to explore the cultural and social constitution of economic geographies, processes of globalisation and new forms of political regulation and practice. Although focusing upon 'new' economic geography, the book also illustrates the many connections with previous scholarship as scholars seek to reconstruct the traditions of political economy to understand the contemporary world. Highlighting and illustrating contemporary developments, the book opens up discussion about the implications of the complex geographies involved. In pointing to new directions of research and debate, this major statement in state of the art economic geography demonstrates the central relevance of economic geography not only in understanding the trajectories of change but in proposing alternatives.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suffering and death are two topics that are frequently referred to in the Epistle to the Hebrews, but have rarely been examined within scholarship on this important New Testament text. Dyer redresses the balance in this study of these topics, conducting a thorough investigation using semantic domain analysis. He incorporates recent advancements in modern linguistics, in particular the 'context of situation', and then connects these topics to the social situation addressed in Hebrews. In so doing he is able to reveal how the author is responding to the reality of suffering in the lives of his audience. With this awareness, it becomes clear how the author also responds to his audience's pain by creating models of endurance in suffering and death. These serve to motivate his audience toward similar endurance within their own social context. Dyer shows that it is possible to make significant determinations about the social setting of Hebrews based upon an examination and analysis of the language used therein.
