Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A thick white mist hangs over the Eastern Sea, covering all of the ships that are attempting to navigate the grey waters. The pirates sit on the bottom of their sleek ship, huddled amongst their chests of gold, shivering in fear despite the warmth of the night. Humfard the one-eyed hobgoblin jumps lithely up onto the aft castle towards Elkira, who steers the ship. “It’s unnatural, this fog,” he grumbles, “at this time of year it is.” “Aye, Humfard,” responds the pirate woman, “I sense the work of a spell caster. Look, I cannot even see the bottom of the ship from up here.” Through the fog on the forecastle, two pirates stand and look over the side, trying to peer through the deep forbidding wall of whiteness. “Did you hear something?” one of them asks. “It was like a splashing on the water.” “It is just the ship.” “Actually, it was me,” says a feminine voice from the gloom. They jump up, startled, as a soaking wet Mora steps from the ship’s wooden railing onto the top of the forecastle. The water on her cape and hood is evaporating, turning into steam as she moves. “I am looking for a band of travellers who stole the cargo of a ship called the Peregrine.” “How?” stammers one of the pirates. The other draws his falchion and jumps at the cloaked figure. The scythe spins around and the man falls back, his arm severed. The second pirate jumps to the back of the forecastle and yells for help. Mora’s scythe slices across and cuts off his cry in mid-yell. His head falls down from the forecastle amongst his comrades. The second pirate is pulling himself away from Mora, dragging himself with his left hand. She is almost nonchalant in her execution of him, the point of her scythe stabbing down as she investigates the remainder of the forecastle. She walks to the edge of the forecastle and looks into the mist-filled hull of the ship. She can hear the shouts and yells of the pirates and she smiles to herself. She readies her scythe and jumps down from the forecastle, amongst the confused pirates. Humfard stares intently into the mist. “What is happening?” he growls. “I cannot see a thing.” Behind him, Elkira ties the steering in place and draws her falchion. “We must investigate,” she says. “Our dog-brothers need our help.” “No,” he mutters. “If we go down into the mist, we will be ambushed. We will wait up here and catch them if they come up the ladder.” They wait, standing at the top of the ladder that leads from the hull. They can hear the sounds: of cries and shrieks, of muffled movements and the swish of sword and scythe strikes. A head flies out of the mist and crashes against the side of the forecastle, before dropping back into the hull. Two pirates run out of the mist towards the forecastle, screaming in fright. One appears to trip over and his body falls forward. Elkira notices that his legs are severed below the knee. The second pirate jumps up onto the ladder and Humfard reaches down a hand to help him up. He grabs the pirate by the hand and pulls him upwards, dragging him towards the top. The pirate shrieks in pain and Humfard grunts, unable to drag any further. Then the pirate is free and Humfard falls backwards; the body of the pirate falls onto him. Elkira gasps in fright; there is a huge hole in the pirate’s back. Elkira turns back to the ladder and looks into the depths of the fog, her falchion ready. Humfard pushes the body from him and staggers to his feet. Humfard backs away from the edge with fear in his eyes. He hears a creaking sound behind him, like a door opening, and he turns around slowly. Mora is standing behind him, next to the trapdoor that leads from the cabin below, inside the aft castle. There are cuts on her cloak and blood splattered over it. Elkira notices that, although most of the blood is red, some of appears to be white and actually burns the cloak where it drips onto

Book excerpt: Between 1500 and 1870, European traders transported millions of Africans to the Americas to work as slaves—yet despite the wealth of scholarship on this period, many people remain uninformed about the history of the slave trade and its implications for the modern black experience. Published to accompany a permanent gallery in the Merseyside Maritime Museum, Transatlantic Slavery documents this era through essays on women in slavery, the impact of slavery on West and Central Africa, and the African view of the slave trade. Richly illustrated, it reveals how the slave trade shaped the history of three continents—Africa, the Americas, and Europe—and how all of us continue to live with its consequences.

Book excerpt: They were a fierce tribe of women warriors who had terrorized half a continent for centuries until colonizing French forces arrived the coast of their fertile homeland. The female warriors battled the vastly superior French armies to a standstill, pinning them to the coast for several months. In the end, they lost, but did not surrender. They regrouped and went marching out of their homeland, never to be heard of or seen again. They were The Last Amazon Warrior Women tribe on earth according to history. Three hundred years later.... It was an old myth that struck terror in the hearts of the natives who had lived in the region for generations, keeping them away from the great mountains, The Forbidden Mountains. It was the myth of The Demon daughters of Blood and Death. Some tales had it that they were evil demons, others portrayed them as terrible women warriors, descendants of ancient Amazon warrior women. No one really knew the truth except that they haunted the heavily forested lands and valleys that lay within the vast mountains and brought instant death to all who ventured there. Even the authorities of the two countries bordering the region wouldn't go into those mountains. Everyone stayed away as they had done for centuries. When the joint team of American and African Special Forces commandos arrived at the foothills of the remote Northern Cameroonian Mountains, after tracking an Islamic State killer squad across two continents, they heard the stories, the myths and legends. They knew the vast region was completely unknown territory, very rugged and inaccessible, made extremely dangerous by the presence of the deadliest terror group in the world. The commandos were backed by the CIA who wanted something the terrorists had stolen; something the Russians, Israelis, Iranians, and the Syrians wanted just as badly. Eight Special Forces commandos went in, the best of their kind. Nothing prepared them for the strange things they found in the great unknown that was The Forbidden Mountains. Danger was at every step, death at the end of every trail, and then... a terrible legend came alive before their eyes. It engulfed them. The Last Amazon Warrior Women (The complete series) is history, mystery, romance, action, and adventure rolled into one of the most fascinating terrorist thrillers you'll ever read. This is three Amazon warrior stories in one book, raw and pure. You can't get better.

The final decisive action is taken by Satan. The book is foremost an explosion of unlimited fantasy, and (sometimes dark) humor, in a universe where almost everything is possible. The moral boundaries between good and evil “heroes” aren’t always clear.

Book excerpt: Dado, an accomplished Amazon warrior now living in the Amazon village of Providence, learns twenty-five of her warrior sisters have been ambushed and the surviving few have been taken hostage. Dado and the remaining Providence warriors must plan a rescue and time is of the essence. The castle where the warriors are being held has a ruthless reputation of torture by the villainous executioner Prattroski. Dado is still conflicted with fragmented memories of her brutal heritage as the daughter of a vicious Viking Chieftain. She embarks on this mission with a taste for vengeance. There is a mastermind at play in the castle and the Amazon warriors must be willing to improvise their rescue attempt. They hope the Amazon warriors from Thun Lake will make it there in time to help. The Thun Lake women are an unforgettable tribe. Dado, Neely, Ainn, and their warriors are recusants both heroic and courageous, who transport readers to a time in history where women were killers with loyalty and heart. They made all the rules. Amazon women were real. They are ancestors to most of us and you’ll remember them in your bones.
