Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Introduction to 6800/6802 Microprocessor Systems: Hardware, Software and Experimentation introduces the reader to the features, characteristics, operation, and applications of the 6800/6802 microprocessor and associated family of devices. Many worked examples are included to illustrate the theoretical and practical aspects of the 6800/6802 microprocessor. Comprised of six chapters, this book begins by presenting several aspects of digital systems before introducing the concepts of fetching and execution of a microprocessor instruction. Details and descriptions of hardware elements (MPU, RAM, ROM, PIA, etc.) necessary for the design and implementation of dedicated systems are also considered. Subsequent chapters focus on how the 6800/6802 microprocessor can be programmed at the machine-code level and by assembler programming techniques; the principles involved in interfacing the MPU system to peripheral equipment; practical aspects of parallel and serial data transfer techniques using the PIA and ACIA, respectively; hardware and software features of the Motorola MEK6802D5E evaluation system. The book concludes by discussing details of 12 investigations that may be undertaken using the MEK6802D5E evaluation system. This monograph is intended for students, technicians, scientists, and engineers.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A unique solution to the problem of a microcomputer development system is described here. Special-purpose hardware was built for communications between the Motorola 6800 microprocessor and the MODCOMP IV computer. This hardware allows for the transmission of 8 bits of data in either direction at the initiative of the microprocessor. Computer programs were then written for both the microprocessor and the minicomputer to permit the use of the microprocessor Loader and Assembler on source and binary program files stored on the MODCOMP. This system allows the programmer to take advantage of the editing, disc storage and high speed line printer capabilities of the MODCOMP while using the actual M6800 Loader, Assembler, and MPU. Sufficiently fast and reliable data transfer rates were achieved such that this system has provided us with an effective development tool. Further, by additions to the programs in the two machines, this interface can easily be expanded to include the M6800 Macro Assembler and Link Loader. (Author).

Book excerpt: This comprehensive and thoroughly updated text now in its second edition continues to provide the complete knowledge about the Intel's 8085 microprocessors, its programming and concept of interfacing of memory, input/output devices and programmable peripheral chips. Organized in four parts, Part I (Chapters 1-9) covers a review of the analog and digital signals as well as hardware and software related aspects of microprocessor 8085. Part II (Chapters 10 and 11) discusses memory and input-output concepts, analog to digital and digital to analog converters and various memory and IO address decoding techniques. Part III (Chapters 12-17) explains the programmable interfacing chips with extensive interfacing examples. Part IV (Chapters 18 and 19) presents a brief discussion on other 8-bit microprocessors along with 16 and 32-bit Intel Processors. Each topic has been supported with numerous examples that will help students apply the concepts to other microprocessors in the course at advanced level. This book is designed specifically for the undergraduate students of electronics and communication engineering, computer science and engineering, and information technology. New to this Edition: Chapters on "Architecture and Organization of Microprocessor" and "Instruction Set of 8085 Microprocessor" have been revised and modified substantially. Multiple choice questions have been added to all the chapters.
