From tossing those graduation caps and framing that hard-earned diplomas, we think life can only get better from that ceremony onwards. But life kicks in and it does not run on grades and thesis defense anymore. It sends you to a court where fouls and strikes don’t stop the clock, rules are not automatically laid down, and players are going where you’ve never gone to before. Good news? You are not alone. Adulting As We (Do Not) Know It is a bridge to help you transition into this tricky phase called adulthood. It offers a kind lift for you to go over the messy waves of heart breaks and statutory deductions. Drawn from the author’s personal experiences, let’s all take a front-row view and be inspired by flipping through the repository of life lessons she has been collecting from her young adult journey. After all, some things, like adulting, get better when shared.

This book was released on 2010-05 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book takes the view that Christian truth is the basis for all answers to social issues and that there are not two opposing but equal answers within Christian truth that are equally valid and equally acceptable to God. Any so called truth or "right" that circumvents or undercuts the required sacrifices, disciplines and self denial demanded by God in any given social or moral issue ceases to be truth, ceases to be right the moment it becomes a force unto itself, outside of or independent of the Scripturally required obedience. Human history has shown over the millennia that when the letter and spirit of God's laws are not obeyed, the truth is abused, nations become confused and people are used. Many of our political and social issues are rooted in our misplaced belief that tolerance, inclusion, equal respect for unequal truth and live and let live is the way to greater peace and prosperity. They are all wrong. Each individual, government and nation is judged by their response to Christ. The Christian nation or one which ascribes to being one, is tasked to set the Christian standard as every nation's point of reference. It is the Christian's duty to show that the valid rule of God's law, the letter of God's law and the spirit of God's law are superior to any other alternative standard. The biggest obstacle to Christianity today is the undisciplined, misinformed and unfaithful lifestyles of professing Christians. The Church has become so indoctrinated in its aversion to any form of discrimination that it has placed a higher priority on keeping the peace by compromising than by keeping the truth by discriminating. By accepting a false peace and rejecting a hard truth that resists compromise, it begets neither peace nor truth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book contains more than 6,100 questions. Its value is not in the answers, but rather in the way the questions are formulated and in the information they contain. Because the questions are arranged chronologically, the book can be used as a study guide. Although there are questions that require to memorize certain details, most of them contain enough clues within themselves which give the reader the opportunity to find the correct answer by using comparisons and logic. Since the book was conceived with the purpose of using it in Bible contests, most of the questions require one-word answers. The material contained in this book is useful in bringing out things that many readers omit when they read the Bible. It is also useful for getting ideas for sermon subjects, for Bible contests, for obtaining information, etc. There are a variety of types of questions: 1. Simple and straightforward questions 2. Multiple choice questions 3. True and false questions 4. Tricky questions 5. Questions that require logic 6. Questions that require general knowledge 7. Questions that require to know Bible details 8. Interesting questions 9. Questions focused on unique things in the Bible 10. Questions that deal with controversial issues 11. Questions that require a list of names 12. Questions that require special knowledge 13. Doctrinal questions 14. Questions that combine the Old Testament and New Testament 15. Bible geography questions 16. Questions that require memorizing verses Take a look at a few sample questions and answers: Tricky question: "David, Solomon, Jeroboam, Ahab, Jehoiakim, and Omri were just a few of the Kings of Israel. Some of them had problems with the Egyptians, and Israel and Egypt were often at war. So, king of Egypt, came and attacked Israel. If you paid attention, the name of the Egyptian king has already been mentioned. Give his name." Question that requires logic: "Alexander the Great, around 250 BC, gathered in Alexandria, Egypt, 70 Hebrew scholars to translate the Scriptures from Hebrew into Greek. This translation is known under the name of Septuagint (LXX). What part of the Bible did they translate? Was it the Old Testament, the New Testament, or the whole Bible?" Question focused on unique things in the Bible: "This gospel contains nothing about the life of Jesus before he was about 30 years old." Answers: Tricky question: So Questions that require logic: OT (One should know that there was no NT in 250 BC, and the NT was already written in Greek) Questions focused on unique things in the Bible: Mark

He loves us as He detonates our spiritual assumptions, turning our religious worlds upside down. In The God We Do Not Know, we will attempt to gain insight into a God who demolishes us, it seems, at every turn. He possesses mind-bending intelligence, creativity, power, and love. Therefore, if we truly want to know Him, His truths will inevitably lead us into rough, unpredictable--but wondrous--terrain. We must investigate these truths; be stormed, shattered, and swept away, in love, by them. At times this journey is spiny and steep but, in every case, brimming with joy, with compassion, with wonder.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores the question: How did the rabbis of the first two centuries CE approach bodies that are born with variant genitals—bodies that they could not identify as definitely male or female? The rabbis had constructed a system in which every behavior was governed by one’s sex/gender, posing a conundrum both for people who did not fit into that model and for the rabbinic enterprise itself. Despite this, their texts contain dozens of references to intersex. And the Sages Did Not Know examines the rabbis’ legal texts and concludes that they had multiple approaches to intersex people. Sarra Lev analyzes seven different rabbinic responses to this conflict of their own making. Through their rulings on how intersex people should conduct themselves in multiple circumstances, the early rabbis treat intersex people as unidentifiable males or females, as indeterminate, as male, as non-gendered, as sui generis, as part-male/part-female, as a sustainable paradox, and, finally, as a way for them to think about gender, having nothing to do with intersex people themselves. This is the first such work that concentrates primarily on the potential effects of these rabbinic texts on intersex persons themselves rather than focusing on what the texts offer readers whose interest is rabbinic approaches to sex and gender or gender diversity. Although the rabbinic texts do not include the voices of known intersex people, these materials do offer us a window into how one small group of people approached intersex bodies, and how those approaches were both similar to and different from those we recognize today.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 New York Times Bestseller Over 10 million copies sold In this generation-defining self-help guide, a superstar blogger cuts through the crap to show us how to stop trying to be "positive" all the time so that we can truly become better, happier people. For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. "F**k positivity," Mark Manson says. "Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it." In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected American society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up. Manson makes the argument, backed both by academic research and well-timed poop jokes, that improving our lives hinges not on our ability to turn lemons into lemonade, but on learning to stomach lemons better. Human beings are flawed and limited—"not everybody can be extraordinary, there are winners and losers in society, and some of it is not fair or your fault." Manson advises us to get to know our limitations and accept them. Once we embrace our fears, faults, and uncertainties, once we stop running and avoiding and start confronting painful truths, we can begin to find the courage, perseverance, honesty, responsibility, curiosity, and forgiveness we seek. There are only so many things we can give a f**k about so we need to figure out which ones really matter, Manson makes clear. While money is nice, caring about what you do with your life is better, because true wealth is about experience. A much-needed grab-you-by-the-shoulders-and-look-you-in-the-eye moment of real-talk, filled with entertaining stories and profane, ruthless humor, The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is a refreshing slap for a generation to help them lead contented, grounded lives.
