The Committee plans to monitor progress of the Green Deal over the coming years. This report sets out seven key areas in which it will focus its scrutiny: public awareness and communications; take-up levels; energy and carbon savings; financial savings and value for money; access to the Green Deal and ECO; customer satisfaction; and supply chain and job creation. It identifies a number of potential challenges, which could lead to low take up of the Green Deal. For example, people in rented accommodation might have difficulty gaining consents from their landlords, households might find the "hassle" of building works too much to want to upgrade their property, or cheaper sources of finance might be available from other sources. If take up levels are low, it will be important to understand why this is, so that the policy can be improved. The report calls on the Government to publish information showing how well the Green Deal is progressing. The Committee also says that DECC should seek opportunities to collaborate with research organisations to maximise its understanding of whether the scheme is working well.

There are many unresolved questions including whether we consider jobs in the nuclear fuel industry to be green jobs? Or is a worker at a glass making company which supplies the glass for the solar photovoltaic industry doing a green job given that glass making is a ‘dirty’ industry? This book deals with the relationship between "green" concepts (green jobs, green economy, green growth) and sustainable development. It examines to which extent creation of green jobs supports overall economic development as opposed to creation of elitist jobs and greenwashing. In order to do so, general conceptual frameworks for green jobs, green economy, green growth and green policy are presented as well as their implementation in ten countries selected among the Group of Twenty. The selection includes advanced (the European Union, the United States of America, Australia, Canada, Republic of Korea, Japan) and developing countries (Mexico, China, Turkey and Brazil). The analysis presented in this book shows that although green concept is well-intentioned, its implementation depends on local circumstances – economic, political and social. Developed countries perceive green growth as a way to create new markets and demand, while developing countries rely more on labor intensive growth and less expensive green jobs. Thus, greening the economy does not diminish differences between rich and poor. This book is suitable for those who study and work in Ecological Economics, Sustainable Development and Labor Economics.

What the Green New Deal was designed to be was JUST THIS KIND OF SCENARIO but without the PANDEMIC. If it takes a Pandemic to save the Earth, I'm all for it. A few million people may have to be sacrificed and they will perish in a most horrific way since the Corona Virus SUFFOCATES its victions. BUT, this is a way to DEMONSTRATE JUST HOW ALL OF US WOULD DIE IF WE DON'T STOP POLLUTING OUR ATMOSPERHE WITH CO2. This course is for anyone who wants to learn how they can become part of the SOLUTION and help SAVE THE HUMAN RACE by continuing to live in this NEW AGE of FAR LESS CONSUMPTION. One thing the VIRUS has proven is that WE CAN ALL STAY AT HOME AND GET PAID TO BE PART OF THE SOLUTION INSTEAD OF PART OF THE PROBLEM. Yes, we will be FORCED TO continue to make sacrifices, but these sacrifices OF TODAY are NOTHING compared to the sacrifices we will have to make if we let things go much further and we find ourselves on the BRINK.
