Download or read book Being the Bad Guys written by Stephen McAlpine and published by The Good Book Company. This book was released on 2021-02-01 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to live confidently for Jesus in today's world. The church used to be recognized as a force for good, but this is changing rapidly. Christians are now often seen as the bad guys, losing both respect and influence. In our post-Christian culture, how do we offer the gospel to those around us who view it as not only wrong but possibly dangerous? And how do we ensure that the secular worldview does not entice us away with its constant barrage, online and elsewhere, of messages about self-determinism? Author Stephen McAlpine offers an analysis of how our culture ended up this way and explains key points of tension between biblical Christianity and secular culture. He encourages Christians not to be ashamed of the gospel as it is more liberating, fulfilling and joyful than anything the world has to offer. He also offers strategies for coping in this world, with its opposing values, and for reaching out to others wisely with the truth.

Book Synopsis Brian Donlevy, the Good Bad Guy by : Derek Sculthorpe
Download or read book Brian Donlevy, the Good Bad Guy written by Derek Sculthorpe and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2017-01-25 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brian Donlevy (1901-1972) was an underrated film actor with surprising range and a little-heralded gift for comedy. Often typecast as a villain, he played the definitive bad guy in such films as Destry Rides Again, Union Pacific and Beau Geste (all in 1939). He showed his versatility in the title role of Preston Sturges' political satire The Great McGinty (1940) and impressed both New York critics and the Soviet government as the cooly authoritative Major Caton in Wake Island (1942). Donlevy was fondly remembered as globe-trotting U.S. Special Agent Steve Mitchell in the television series Dangerous Assignment (1952) and as Professor Quatermass in two acclaimed science fiction films. This first ever biography of Donlevy covers his colorful early life as a boy soldier, his years playing comedy roles on Broadway and his long career in Hollywood.

A scoundrel who will set the world on fire if that means he gets what he wants. That's me. I'm the bad guy.

Book Synopsis The Good Guy, the Bad Guy, and the Ugly Truth by : Justin Nutt
Download or read book The Good Guy, the Bad Guy, and the Ugly Truth written by Justin Nutt and published by Ark Company. This book was released on 2014 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Good Guy, the Bad Guy, and the Ugly Truth, looks at the fact that when a man or woman is in more than one unhealthy relationship, be it physical, verbal or emotional abuse that comes to be seen as normal. While the person may state that they desire a healthy and loving relationship they tend to reject those potential partners where a healthy relationship is possible and tend to accept those partners who treat them poorly as that is what they understand. Two reasons exist for this 1. they have come to believe that the "good guy" (or girl) is an act and when the truly good person doesn't change into the "bad guy" or girl they feel they are still experiencing the act. 2. They have a damaged self esteem and self-worth and feel as thought they don't deserve better and this leads to them rejecting the person. Generally it is a combination of the two. The book examines this idea and explains it in an easy to read way without losing therapeutic value. After the subjects and ideas have been explained there are multiple self-designed exercises which are intended to help the person examine him or herself as well as their past relationships and what they truly want. They include things like the persons strengths, their weaknesses, guilt, and resentments, accountability of self and other and many more. The last section of the book talks about how a healthy relationship should exist as far as communication, sharing, time apart, respect, sexuality, and other aspects. The book is designed not only for those who have been through unhealthy relationship, but also those who have been effected by attempting to or being in a relationship with those who had unhealthy relationships. The exercises work for both men and women no matter which side they were on as well as individuals of any sexual orientation.

Book Synopsis Good Guys, Bad Guys by : Emily K. Carian
Download or read book Good Guys, Bad Guys written by Emily K. Carian and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2024-05-07 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores questions of masculinity, privilege, and identity to explain why some men become feminists while others become men’s rights activists In the evolving landscape of gender activism in the United States, it is intriguing that four-in-ten American men now identify as feminists. Despite this seemingly positive shift, gender inequality remains deeply rooted in the US. Good Guys, Bad Guys delves into this paradox, unraveling the complexities of men’s feminist allyship and its limitations in propelling genuine progress. Emily K. Carian masterfully dissects the narratives of two distinct groups of gender activists: feminist men and men who belong to the men's rights movement, which opposes feminism. By engaging directly with the men themselves, Carian constructs a compelling analysis of their journeys into these contrasting social movements. Surprisingly, Carian finds that both feminist men and men’s rights activists share a common motivation for their engagement in gender activism: the desire to be perceived as “good men.” However, this well-intentioned yet superficial drive hinders feminist men from envisioning concrete and effective strategies to challenge gender inequality. Conversely, it fuels men’s rights activists’ participation in a movement that fosters a virulent misogyny. Good Guys, Bad Guys exposes how even self-proclaimed feminist men inadvertently perpetuate gender inequality through their attitudes, behaviors, and relationships. As society navigates the complexities of gender activism, this book serves as a valuable resource in guiding the path towards a truly equal and inclusive future.
