Book excerpt: "International bankers are gathered in New York City at the height of the world debt crisis of the 1980s to chart a course through danger, but one of the lead negotiators for America's top banking consortium turns up a corpse after a night of routine dining, carousing, and reserved indulgence. P.I. Paul Baxton, a studious lover of New York City street history, turns up the suspects and works with all the usual agencies sent to tackle the questionable death. When bureaucrats, spies, and police think they have the operative cornered, Baxton-who journeyed as far as Seattle for clues-nudges an unusual confession as everyone else is hoping to turn up a more promising lead." -- back cover.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, Norvell reveals an amazing new formula for achieving all things that you desire. From his years of studying and guiding people to a better way of life, Norvell has evolved this formula which can lead you to the achievement of your $100,000 dream! What is this amazing power? It is called "Psycho-Imagery" and with its help, you can instantly "focus" on any amount of money in your Higher Mind-and then project this mental energy to the outer world of reality. Whether you have focused on $1, $100, $1000 or even $100,000, it will materialize faster than you could ever expect, says Norvell. "And remember," he continues, "the first hundred thousand dollars is the most important thing to concentrate on. After that has been attained you can make a million as easily as you made that first hundred thousand dollars!" HOW "PSYCHO-IMAGERY" WAS DISCOVERED! For over 25 years, Norvell studied the lives of ten thousand successful people who have achieved fame and fortune. From this study, he evolved a scientific formula which he calls "Psycho- Imagery." And Norvell claims, it can help you achieve your $100,000 dream with effortless ease, without having to wait for years to accomplish it. With this mind projector principle you can re- lease mental images of money, cars, houses, jewels and other things of value, and they will automatically come into being in the world of matter. Book excerpt: In the early twentieth century a movement flourished in the Midwestern states bordering the Great Lakes to champion the St. Lawrence route as the answer to easily transporting goods in and out of the centre of the continent. Internal rivalries in the United States and Canada held back the project for fifty years until Canada suddenly decided to build a seaway alone, pressuring the American Congress to co-operate. The building of the Seaway and its completion in 1959, involved engineering on an unprecedented scale and significant human dislocation. During construction, communities along the Great Lakes planned for increased prosperity, but changes in transportation, aging infrastructure, and environmental problems have mean that "the Golden Dream" has not been fully realized, even today. This popular history chronicles the rise of one of the great engineering projects in Canadian history and its controversial impact on the people living along the St. Lawrence River.

Once Upon a Dream marks the second book in a new YA line that reimagines classic Disney stories in surprising new ways. It should be simple--a dragon defeated, a slumbering princess in a castle, a prince poised to wake her. But when the prince falls asleep as his lips touch the fair maiden's, it is clear that this fairy tale is far from over. With a desperate fairy's last curse controlling her mind, Princess Aurora must escape from a different castle of thorns and navigate a dangerously magical landscape--created from her very own dreams. Aurora isn't alone--a charming prince is eager to join her quest, and old friends offer their help. But as Maleficent's agents follow her every move, Aurora struggles to discover who her true allies are and, moreover, who she truly is. Time is running out. Will the sleeping beauty be able to wake herself up?

Book excerpt: Christian speaker and Bible teacher Wade Joye pushes back against the dominant self-help teaching of the day—to follow your dreams—and encourages us to let go and surrender our lives to God in order to truly live. “Follow your dreams” is the self-help message of our day. In our schools and universities, media, and culture, and even in church, we are taught to dream big, work hard, and find true happiness in living our dreams. And so we spend our lives chasing. But as we chase our dreams, we can be met with exhaustion, anxiety, and disappointment. Our circumstances may put our dreams in jeopardy, or even deny them—and we’re heartbroken. Or we achieve them and just want more. Wade Joye offers here a different way. Release your grip on your dreams and trust God with your whole life. Joye shows that by letting go we are freed from the pressure to secure some ideal, unattainable life, and instead become open to God and his plans. Living a life of daily surrender to God’s purpose we begin to see glimpses of God in our present circumstance, as he shows us that he, more than anyone, can be trusted. With deep wisdom, frank teaching, and a pastor’s heart, Wade guides readers step-by-step to the place of letting go, the place where we find real life.

Book excerpt: NOW IS A TIME OF GREAT CHANGE ON PLANET EARTH. The experts remind us that we are now seven billion people in competition for earths resources and straining her capacity to provide. We must evolve a new paradigm where Earths gifts are acknowledged and revered, recognize that there is enough for all if we let go our fear-spawned greed. As we are all related, each a part of a magnificent whole, all dependent upon Mother Earth, we can learn to work together in love, awareness and compassion. The great impediment to achieving this lofty mind-set is Fear, set in place and handed down over generations and manifesting in suspicion and judgment of others, feelings of scarcity, and often, self-doubt. It is the task of each of us to take a look inside and try to understand the source of our own fears. This work describes such a journey, stepping as it does from Dream to Dream, banishing the darkness where fear had reigned.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gold fever is sweeping America, and young Englishman Ned Sinton is keen to reach America, join the gold rush, and seek his fortune. Ned faces plenty of obstacles along the way, including a perilous sea journey and the wilderness of the American West before he reaches the promised land of California. Written just a few years after gold was first discovered in America, this is a thrilling children’s adventure novel by author R.M. Ballantyne which truly captures the excitement and frenzy of the period. R.M. Ballantyne (1825-1894) was a Scottish artist and prolific author of mostly children’s fiction. Born in Edinburgh, Ballantyne was the ninth of ten children. At the age of 16 Ballantyne moved to Canada, where he worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company, travelling all over the country to trade for fur. He returned to Scotland in 1847 following the death of his father, and it was then that he began his literary career in earnest, writing over 100 children’s adventure books over the course of his life. Stories such as ‘The Coral Island’ and ‘The Young Fur Traders’ were hugely popular, and many of them drew on his own experiences of travelling throughout Canada. A stickler for detail, Ballantyne continued to travel widely to research the backgrounds and settings for his exciting stories. His tales became an inspiration for authors of the future, including ‘Treasure Island’ novelist Robert Louis Stevenson. Ballantyne spent the latter period of his life living in London and Italy for the sake of his health. He died in Rome in 1894 at the age of 68.
