Yes, we are in the midst of a battle that will only increase in strength, but the victory has already been promised. Outlining the next 7-year period of spiritual war, 2008-2015, Pierce shows how God will advance His kingdom, causing the faithful to rise up and God's will to be done here on Earth as it is in Heaven. Gods Unfolding Battle Plan offers a glimpse into whats ahead, as well as encouragement to triumph over the attending forces of lawlessness, hopelessness, and violence. Discover what God has said to Pierce about the upcoming period and learn how to prosper through strategic intercession, worship warfare, and a powerful new weapon of intercession, the four watches of the night.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Welcome to our peaceful protest.” In the spring of 2020, government mandates forced churches across North America to close their doors in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As societal fear and unrest increased, Christians were forced to grapple with how God wanted them to respond to these state-imposed restrictions. After all, didn’t the closure of churches pose a serious threat in a time when people needed spiritual direction more than ever? God vs. Government follows two churches’ courageous decisions to reopen despite orders to remain closed. Guided by the command in Hebrews 10:25 that churches not forsake meeting together, pastors John MacArthur and James Coates led their congregations to return to in-person meetings—and were swiftly met by unsympathetic governing authorities ready to shut them down again. The ensuing legal battles raised important questions about religious freedom, and more importantly, illuminated what it looks like to take a stand when Christ and compliance collide. How do we react with wisdom and discernment when the state encroaches upon the church? God vs. Government tells two incredible accounts that affirm our need to be faithful to the Lord’s commands no matter the circumstances.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 2011 Winner of the Book Awards Contest in the Discipline of Theology Presented by Alpha Sigma Nu The apostle Paul wrote that "All of you are one in Christ Jesus." Given Paul’s vision of God’s kingdom defined by the breakdown of all distinctions and relationships of domination—no longer Jew or Greek, slave or free, male or female—how do we make sense of ethnic particularity within the church’s theological formulations? Racism and God-Talk explores the biblical and religious dimensions of North American racism while highlighting examples of resistance within the Christian religious tradition. Social historians have seldom analyzed the problematic of race from a primarily theological perspective. This volume undertakes a critical examination of explicitly theological and confessional perspectives for understanding and transforming North American racism. Rosario Rodriguez offers insights from Latino/a theology for broader scholarly and social discussions concerning racism, borders, and immigration. The first to analyze race and racism from a Latino/a theological perspective, the volume makes use of a broadened conceptualization of "mestizaje," or mutual cultural exchange, to challenge the church to recognize the effects of racial and ethnic particularity in all theological construction.

Book excerpt: The evidence found in the Old and New Testament of His return is overwhelming, therefore it is safe to conclude, “He is coming back.” So it is evident Jesus is coming back to the Mount of Olives. We see that there is going to be a time of upset, wars, troubles, and earthquakes about and around that time. So when Christ comes back, the earth will undergo a time of great change, trouble and unrest. Scripture is given, not to frighten us, but to tell us something that is certain to happen just before He comes, so we are not asleep but we are eagerly anticipating the coming events.

Book excerpt: This book aims to clarify some of the erroneous concepts we have about end-time events predicted to take place before Christ returns again to this earth. Our misunderstood positions among Christian denominations is no different from that which happened in Jesus' time when His words were often misunderstood. This study attempts to understand wedding ceremonies as Jesus knew them, Jacob's Trouble as Jeremiah taught, God's strange act at the end-time of this world, and the destiny of devoted Christians who have died not having received their reward that Jesus promised in John 14:1-3. This also includes my understanding of the doctrine concerning the 144,000 as mentioned in Revelation 7. All this removes our fear of how we will survive the chaos so many people expect.

Book excerpt: Designed to include all of the texts from Presocratics through Machiavelli likely to be read in an undergraduate course on classical political thought, this anthology has at its core generous selections from Plato and Aristotle. Building on this core is a sufficiently diverse and substantial selection of texts from other writers--including Thucydides and the Sophists--to allow for inquiry into the variety of Classical Greek approaches to politics, as well as into Roman, Medieval and Renaissance developments of the classical tradition. Preeminent translations and the editor's own thoughtful introductions further distinguish this unique anthology.

Book excerpt: In our rapidly changing and progressively globalized world, Christians and Muslims are faced with the prospect of directly encountering and responding to people of other faiths and cultures. This has pushed us all to address the vital question of how best to live with, work beside, and love one other as fellow citizens of our planet. Using resources from Christian theologian Wolfhart Pannenberg, Muslim ethicist Abdulaziz Sachedina, and several others, Winkler argues that we must continually dialogue with one another--not only about the beliefs and practices held in common between us, but also about the ways in which we are distinctively different. Only then can we take the opportunity more comprehensively to understand, appreciate, and cooperate with each other to build just, moral, and cohesive communities of hope in our often uncertain and unsettling times.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1758, a Quaker tailor and sometime shopkeeper and school teacher stood up in a Quaker meeting and declared that the time had come for Friends to reject the practice of slavery. That man was John Woolman, and that moment was a significant step, among many, toward the abolition of slavery in the United States. Woolman's antislavery position was only one essential piece of his comprehensive theological vision for colonial American society. Drawing on Woolman's entire body of writing, Jon R. Kershner reveals that the theological and spiritual underpinnings of Woolman's alternative vision for the British Atlantic world were nothing less than a direct, spiritual christocracy on earth, what Woolman referred to as "the Government of Christ." Kershner argues that Woolman's theology is best understood as apocalyptic-centered on a supernatural revelation of Christ's immediate presence governing all aspects of human affairs, and envisaging the impending victory of God's reign over apostasy. John Woolman and the Government of Christ explores the theological reasoning behind Woolman's critique of the burgeoning trans-Atlantic economy, slavery, and British imperial conflicts, and fundamentally reinterprets 18th-century Quakerism by demonstrating the continuing influence of early Quaker apocalypticism.
