Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Read God’s Intangible Senses as a way to explore your own senses and learn how they really connect us all as family in the eyes of our Savior. Understand how the power of prayer can govern our outlook and can offer a different view of situations. Instead of living a disappointing life, why not expose your emotions and attempt to see we are all connected as one by Christ? Dominate your feelings and examine your own soul. It may be unfamiliar territory, though. Keep in mind and know that angels keep a close watch over us and give us support and aid. Observe that we are all of the same “skin” and invent a new perspective and “grip” on your relationships as you find out we are all the same in God’s eyes. Brokenness can actually open many doors and create an explosion of senses. Let it be a blessing and let it change you for the good. Investigate what you can do for someone else to make them smile. We are all longing for acceptance and approval. Prayer and the presence of God on your “team” can immensely alter a perspective and “color” your world again. Overrule all of your negative senses, pray to our Lord, our God, and obtain an uplifting attitude that relays that everything is for the best.

Book excerpt: "God's Bits of Wood is a fictionalized account of the Dakar-Niger train strikes which took in the 1940s. The novel looks at both the political and personal sacrifices the strikers and their families made. The political power is portrayed here as the strikers try to win back pensions, annual paid vacations, and family allowances from the Europeans. The novel can be seen as a shift of power between the African strikers and their European bosses. The Europeans have the political process and violence as a leverage of power, which they use both insistently and mindlessly. One of the European delegates for the railway company accidentally shoots young boys who are playing along the tracks. The delegate isn't charged with their murders. The Europeans also prevent the strikers and their families from having access to water. Yet the strikers also have the masses as their power. The strikers gain powerful allies in their own women. In the beginning of the novel, the women are not told the details of the strike, though they are asked to support their men. Only the small child, Ad'jibid'ji, shows any interest and insists that her grandfather take her to a meeting of the strikers. Yet as the novel continues, the women become more and more involved in the strike. This is because the strike has hit home to them in a literal way. There is no water nor food to eat. The women and children begin to starve. The women suffer in silence until they begin to fight back. Two of the more striking sequences in the novel are the siege between the women of N'Diayene and the policemen who have come to arrest Ramatoulaye, and leads to the burning down of the village, and the march the women go on to Dakar to protest their treatment and to support the strikers. The strike breaks down the barriers which cause inequality between men and women, black and white." -- from www.associatedcontent.com (Oct. 22, 2010).

Most of us probably have at some point in life, and for some it seems to be a normal part of life. Author Lawrence Kinny was a successful DJ-and in fact he found success in many careers, including customer service representative, cruise ship sailor, and businessman. Still, he felt there had to be more. His new guide, Follow God's Plan and Stop Making Sense, helps you understand how you can be yourself and be successful; they are not mutually exclusive. You can discover your values and align your values, goals, plans, and actions. Kinny uses his personal experiences to show you how to use your God-given gifts and past to design your present and future. Follow God's Plan and Stop Making Sense demonstrates that making even small changes can lead you to a better life. Manage your perceptions in a way that empowers you. Book excerpt: Where is Home? This question troubles many of us. We may live far from where we grew up, away from those we love or in a culture not our own. But we all need somewhere to belong, to find a sense of home in this world. Jo Swinney was born in the UK, but grew up in Portugal and France. She went to an English boarding school, did a gap year in southern Africa and in her twenties studied theology in Canada, where she met her American husband. Now back in the UK, she's had more reason than most to wonder what 'home' really means. Is home where you come from - where you live now - where the people you love are - or what? Interweaving a frank and poignant retelling of her own story with theological and psychological insights, Jo's original and authentic exploration of home in all its many and varied forms is a heartfelt call to find our home in the things that are truly of most value.

Book excerpt: Contemporary Chinese churches show an extreme privatization tendency, advocating that religion is a private affair and has nothing to do with politics. So Christians are only about the salvation of their own personal souls, and they do not care about all public affairs. In order to escape the harsh reality, not hesitate to distort the true principle of separation of church and state, and even frequently bring out the words of Jesus "God belongs to God and Caesar belongs to Caesar" to prove that religion must draw a clear line with politics, and do not interfere with each other. On the other hand, it is also wrong for the church as a religious organization directly gets involved in the elections or gives the churchgoers pressure to vote for the church's favored candidate. The church is not supposed to be a tool for politicians' elections but for the spiritual salvation of the people, including churchgoers or not churchgoers, regardless of their political attitudes. Although the Bible can interpret a variety of different theological themes, political theology, peace theology, human rights theology, liberation theology, women's theology, ecological theology, etc., it will always be for the liberation of the victims, the oppressed and the criticism of the murderer of suffering! For the righteousness of the oppressed and suffering people is the most indispensable part of Christians' love for their neighbors and eventually for society as a whole! Is the only evidence of a Christian's love for God.

Book excerpt: In this book, Sunny Kuan-Hui Wang explores the relationship between sense perception and testimony in the Gospel of John. While Johannine scholars tend to focus on one or the other, she shows that sense perception and testimony are both significant and are used together with the intention of drawing readers into the narrative so that they become witnesses in an emotionally engaged way. It is argued that John's use of sense perception together with testimony is rooted in Jewish literature. Yet John also employs a Graeco-Roman rhetorical technique, enargeia , which appeals to the persuasive power of sense perception to make his narrative vivid. John does not downplay sense perception. Rather, he uses it in the context of testimony as a means of persuasion to draw the readers, in their imagination, into the experience of the first disciples and thus deeper into faith and witness.

All these miracles come from One Source: the power of DIVINE INDWELLING. These stories are not fictions. They are real experiences of miracles that made me write the book in order to share with people who with their FAITH can get into the Threshold of God's Presence within the soul and let the LIGHT of God's Power shine forth to drive evil away. The Truth is in the book. The Process, that even a little child can do, is in the book. But for one story among hundreds of stories, let me share this one. "A male teenager came to my office at midnight, trembling pale drunk high with drugs, carrying a knife urged by his hallucinations to kill someone, and that was me. I knew at that moment the Lord sent this poor guy to me to be healed by the power of God's Divine Indwelling. Gently yet carefully I led him to God's Presence within him, and with the power of the prayer of faith, Iby the power of God simply commanded the evil of drug addiction to leave. Right at that moment the guy was healed. The power of God in the soul of believers is truly REAL." As I said, I can share several stories of my experiences of miracles because of God's Divine Indwelling, the very "key that opens all the treasures of God's wisdom and knowledge" (Col 2:2-3) One who is serious in following what is written in this book can also see the experience of the power of God. Hence I wrote the book to help as many as are looking for hope and peace within them. Praise our awesome God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All over the world people talk about God and argue endlessly about what God said and what, if anything, we should do about it. Do they know what are they talking about? Do they ever seriously consider what it might look like or feel like if God actually spoke to you? How could you tell, if someone said God spoke to them, whether they were deluded, bluffing, or high on drugs? The reflections, dialogues, and arguments in this book address such questions, often with humor, sometimes provocatively as when the author suggests the ancient gods have returned to invade the institutions of our great religions, or when two spirits, William and James, viewing the world from afar, voice their doubt as to whether the human species will ever attain the pinnacles of cooperation, reason, beauty, and love. Ancient texts from the Mayan Popol Vuh through the Bible to the Chinese classics are invoked, and the discoveries of modern science from anthropology to zoology are brought into play as the reader is gently led to an appreciation of the role of religious language in modern society.

He clutches onto both aspects with his bewildered mind, pondering his own senses. As he stands there, his mind races with questions. What is the meaning of his existence? Why has he been placed in this moment, at this time, with these thoughts and feelings? Is there a purpose to his life, or is it all just a random series of events? ‘I know God smells terribly bad, and I’m ready to bury him deep in the ground. But is this really the right thing to do? Is there a better solution? Should I try to make the smell more bearable, or is this the only course of action? I’m torn between doing what’s best for God and the reality of the situation,’ he thinks. Has he fallen into the river of dilemma and been washed away from his suffering? Will this man unravel the mystery of his existence, or will he be swallowed up by the abyss of his own mind?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “FEW PEOPLE think of life as a creative experiment. Most of us are so busy with routines that we take life for granted. We expect an endless routine of work, a hectic social life each weekend and two weeks’ vacation each year. I trust that the readers of this book will derive from it a new interest in life, a zest for doing what needs to be done, and a technique to live with joyous enthusiasm. “Looking at life from an inspired viewpoint you can see those things which are on the side of greatness and cease resisting the petty and the unimportant. Life is a process of intelligence. It always acts intelligently. Problems are the result of living life unintelligently. “The universe is actually a mental system. Its primary nature is the process of ideas becoming form. Every fact in your world is also an idea in your mind. To get new things in your world you must have new ideas in your consciousness. Few people do enough abstract thinking to create new ideas in their minds. They continually think about what they already know and have known for years. This explains the monotony of their lives. “Select the idea of some new experience you want and then think it without ceasing. Mind will deliver to you everything you need in order to accomplish your demonstration. This is far from being impossible. The great, the wise, and the true have proven this to be so. You have done it and so have your friends. You may not have thought of the process as being either spiritual or psychological. You intuitively knew a new idea. Your thinking in terms of this idea caused something to happen in your experience. “This book has been written for that large section of today’s population which is spiritually liberal and psychologically aware. Those bound by traditional beliefs will cast it aside. It is my desire that thousands will be helped and healed by reading these pages.”—Raymond Charles Barker

Book excerpt: The Christian Tradition, formerly published by Pearson/Prentice Hall, introduces students at the beginning of the third millennium to a religion that has evolved over and shaped two previous millennia. With particular focus placed on the social and cultural background to this tradition, the text provides a stimulating survey of the history of Christianity from its Jewish roots to the challenges it faces in the twenty-first century. This innovative text weaves a consideration of the arts, spirituality, religious life and practice—especially among the laity, women, and others outside the dominant institutional tradition—into its rich historical narrative, and offers a comprehensive and diverse view of the course of Christian history
